Chapter 489: Luke's Intentions (1)

The Interrogation

Bai Yan lasted only four minutes before he couldn't hold on any longer. Excessive blood loss caused his body to weaken rapidly, and he was finally pinned to the ground by the feral Jiu.

"Alright, Jiu, stop now!"

Luke walked out of the tent. "Go wash up in the river. Come back when you're clean."

The boy obediently nodded, released the pale-faced Bai Yan, and hopped toward the river. He was clearly happy, humming a tune that couldn't be understood.

He had just killed six people without an ounce of guilt.

Luke's eyes lit up. This child was excellent. If trained properly, he could become a blade that killed without shedding a drop of blood.

Linda asked, puzzled, "Why did you leave him alive?"

"He's useful to me."

Luke walked up to Bai Yan, looking him up and down, and chuckled.

"You should know who I am, right?"

Bai Yan tried to argue. "W-We were just passing by and wanted to make friends with you. We had no other intentions."

Luke sneered. He waved to the boy, who hadn't gone far.

"Jiu, come back! Throw this guy in the river."

The boy immediately turned and ran back. Bai Yan's face turned deathly pale. He was covered in claw marks, many of which were still bleeding. If he was soaked in the river overnight, he wouldn't survive.

"Little brother, I beg you, don't! We really were just passing by!"

Luke didn't bother with him and turned to walk toward the tent. Bai Yan couldn't take it anymore and roared,

"Luke Shaw! What exactly do you want?"

The roar didn't change his situation. Jiu grabbed his hair and began dragging him toward the river. Bai Yan struggled desperately but couldn't break free. The grass rubbed against his wounds, making the pain worse. Seeing the river getting closer, he finally let out a desperate cry,

"Spare me! I'll tell you everything! Please, Luke Shaw, Young Master Shaw, spare my life! Spare me!"

"Alright, Jiu, bring him back."

The boy didn't hesitate, dragging him back to the original spot.

Luke sighed inwardly. This simple-minded boy was surprisingly easy to use.

The series of movements left Bai Yan feeling like his body was falling apart. He coughed, clutching his chest, his face frighteningly white.

Luke squatted in front of him.

"Mr. Bai, are you ready to tell the truth now? Or will you keep lying?"

Bai Yan's pupils contracted. The other party knew his name!

"Since you're unwilling to speak, Jiu..."

"Wait a minute!"

Bai Yan pleaded, "Let's talk this out nicely. There's no need for violence."

"Fine, then talk. I'm all ears."

Luke looked at him with interest, his green eyes holding a malicious smile, like a cat toying with its prey. Bai Yan felt waves of terror spreading in his heart, making him shiver uncontrollably.

Anger brewed inside, turning into an unforgettable humiliation.

However, the situation demanded deference. At this point, saving his life was the most important thing; everything else had to be put aside.

Bai Yan gritted his teeth and whispered,

"My brothers and I came here under Master's orders. Young Master Shaw, I have no intention of making an enemy of you, nor do I have the guts to attack you."

"Who is your Master?"

"Yue Buqun, the Sect Leader of the Five Sacred Peaks Sect."

Luke blinked, unable to help himself. "You said your Master's name is Yue Buqun, and he's the Sect Leader of the Five Sacred Peaks Sect?"

"Do you know my Master?"

"No, I don't know any Yue Buqun."

The world truly was interesting. Someone was actually named Yue Buqun. Alright, Luke coughed and continued,

"Tell me everything related to your Master. If you tell the truth, I will spare your life. If you lie, I will break your legs and throw you into the river to feed the fish."

Bai Yan's expression was shaken. "Really?"

"What is your status, and what is mine? It would be shameful for me to lie to you."

The calm words carried an innate arrogance, like a high-and-mighty prince looking down on a beggar in the mud pit. Bai Yan's face flushed crimson. Never had he, born into wealth, suffered such humiliation.

After a long silence, he finally lowered his head and told them everything—the entire sequence of events and all the stories related to his Master.

Luke kept his word. He not only released him but also thoughtfully gave him medicine for his injuries.

"I wish you luck, Mr. Bai."

Bai Yan took the first aid box, not daring to look up. He limped away. He didn't stop until he was out of sight of the camp. Remembering everything that had just happened, he couldn't help but clench his fists and let out a howl like a lone wolf.

Fratricide for the Scripture

After dealing with this incident, Luke lost the mood for camping. The three of them quickly packed up and drove back to the provincial capital. As for the bodies, the grassland lacked nothing, and the only thing it had in abundance was wolves.

In the car, seeing Linda lost in silence, Luke couldn't help but shake his head.

"Now you know why I didn't want you to go, don't you?"

The girl asked, puzzled, "Is the Tiger Fiend Scripture really that important?"

Luke smiled. "Different places have different customs. To an outsider, the Tiger Fiend Scripture is no different from a Buddhist sutra, but to the people of China, especially the ancient martial arts world, that technique is a coveted thing—worth fighting for with their lives."

"But..."

Linda couldn't help but say, "The Tiger Fiend Scripture isn't easy to practice. It requires extreme talent. Even a master like my teacher couldn't achieve it, let alone others. What good is it to them even if they manage to steal it?"

"You're still young. You'll understand in a few years."

Night ended, and the sun rose.

In the suburban villa, Pei Qingsong, who had waited all night without seeing anyone, paced restlessly in the living room.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

He rushed over. When the door opened, a figure with blood-stained clothes and a nearly ashen face collapsed on the ground.

"Senior Brother?"

Pei Qingsong's face drastically changed. He immediately pulled out his phone.

"No, don't call!"

The physically depleted Bai Yan hissed,

"Go to a private clinic. Get a doctor, fast."

Pei Qingsong didn't know what had happened to make his Senior Brother this way. To be cautious, he spent a large sum to invite the best surgeon to the villa. After a round of treatment, the injuries were finally stabilized.

"Senior Brother, how are you doing?"

Bai Yan opened his eyes and said word by word,

"Call Master. The Tiger Fiend Scripture is in that girl's hands."

"This..."

"This is news I paid for with my life! Go call him, quickly!"

Bai Yan suddenly roared, his expression extremely ferocious. Pei Qingsong was confused but could only take out his phone and go to the living room. He felt a sense of apprehension—he couldn't shake the feeling that his Senior Brother's gaze was shifty, as if hiding something.

Seven people participated in last night's operation, yet only his Senior Brother returned.

It was hard not to be suspicious about what had happened.

"It couldn't be..."

A thought struck Pei Qingsong, and his face slightly changed. Just then, there was a noise from the bedroom. He quickly pushed open the door and saw Bai Yan lying on the floor beside the bed.

"Senior Brother, are you alright?"

"It's nothing. I just slipped."

Pei Qingsong shook his head and helped him up by the arm. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his chest. Pei Qingsong lowered his head blankly and saw a surgical knife plunged into his heart. Unspeakable horror filled his eyes.

"Senior Brother, you..."

Bai Yan looked down and said nothing. His right hand exerted force again.

Pfft!

His heart was pierced. Pei Qingsong trembled a few times, then collapsed onto the ground with an expression of bitter resentment.
