Chapter 575: The Limitations of Reality Warping
The Soul Incarnate
The ethereal figure grew rapidly, quickly reaching the height of a three-story building. A sheen of light flowed across its surface, revealing armor resembling that of an ancient warrior. Green flame burned on the armor, transforming into speckles of runes.
Simultaneously, two new arms sprouted from its shoulders. Each of the total six arms wielded a weapon: a saber, a sword, a mace, a bow, arrows, and a spear. A colossal soul fluctuation emanated from its body, creating ripples in the void.
Linda had never witnessed such a sight and was completely dumbfounded.
Luke mentally transmitted,
"Take my body away."
The girl immediately reacted, quickly lifting his unresponsive physical form and retreating to the side. The Luke standing before her was completely different from before; the soul-deep pressure was enough to make her skin crawl.
"Such a powerful soul."
Sinestro ceased smiling and became extremely serious. "This is the first time I've seen a soul manifest into a solid entity. No wonder you could perceive my attacks. Earthling, you truly astonish me."
Luke drew his longsword and pointed it menacingly at his opponent.
"I'll give you one last chance: leave the Solar System."
Sinestro gave a cold laugh. "You think you can defeat me with that?"
Twang!
Luke drew the bow with his left hand and nocked an arrow with his right. The green arrow turned into a streak of light, aimed directly at Sinestro's face. Sinestro raised his right hand. The next second, the arrow suddenly accelerated, slamming hard into his head.
Boom!
A green shockwave exploded in the void. Sinestro was sent flying backward. He clutched his eye, his body trembling slightly from the intense pain.
Linda was stunned. Didn't he say he could warp reality? How did he still get hit?
Luke sneered.
"It seems you don't fully understand your own ability."
With that, he soared into the air, wings growing from his back, and sped forward. In its soul state, his body was unaffected by physical laws, making his speed incredibly fast—even faster than Clark flying at full throttle.
His massive soul-body tore through the void. Upon reaching Sinestro, he brought his mace down. Electric arcs spilled from the mace, carrying a fierce shriek.
Clang!
The mace grazed Sinestro's arm and struck his helmet. The electric arcs dispersed, blocked by a barrier. Luke snorted and brought his saber and sword down, attacking furiously.
Blades flashed and struck over a hundred times in the blink of an eye. Sinestro's personal barrier was shattered, and he suffered over a dozen wounds.
The wounds weren't the main problem; what hurt was the soul-deep agony. The opponent's attacks could injure not only the body but also the soul.
Luke continued to attack while mocking him.
"Surprised? Confused? Why didn't reality warping work? You tried to turn me into foam, but you failed several times. Do you know why?"
"Because I am a soul."
He brought the saber and sword together, slicing down with roaring green flames.
Shhhtt!
Blood splattered out. Two massive wounds appeared on Sinestro's chest, nearly splitting him into four sections. Sinestro roared, unleashing a powerful pulse wave that blasted Luke away.
Luke gave a cold grunt and flew back in, nocking another arrow. He fired seven soul arrows wreathed in green flame. Sinestro gritted his teeth, attempting to activate his reality-warping ability again.
Two seconds later, his body was pierced by the seven arrows. Luke closed the distance, slamming his mace into Sinestro's head.
The blow completely stunned Sinestro, sending him flying backward. He skidded several thousand meters before stopping. Blood oozed from his wounds, coupled with the searing pain of his soul being burned. Parallax roared as well.
"Damn it, Thaal! You'd better figure this out! I don't want to see green flames anymore!"
Sinestro took a breath. His wounds healed rapidly, but the soul pain lingered. At this moment, he finally understood why the other half of the Fear Essence had fallen into his opponent's hands.
An unimaginably powerful soul, terrifying green flame, battle armor, and equally strong teammates.
Facing such a group, Parallax's defeat seemed well-deserved.
The Reality-Warping Flaw
Luke reappeared in front of him, drawing his bow. The arrow burned fiercely, casting a phosphorescent green light on the surrounding space.
Sinestro stopped trying to use his reality-warping ability. As he established a defensive barrier around himself, he mentally transmitted,
"How did you know?"
"I figured it out the moment you attacked Diana. You turned her shoulder into foam, but her soul wasn't harmed. And J'onn—you couldn't directly counter his psychic attack; instead, you used Parallax to backlash him."
"Those two incidents made me connect the dots."
"Very few powers in the universe are perfect. They all have inherent flaws, and reality warping is no exception. You can ignore the laws of physics and force an object or energy into another form, but that doesn't mean you can transcend the fundamental rules."
"Time, space, mind, and soul are things outside of pure physical law. If your reality warping could affect those as well, what would be the point of the universe?"
"That is your weakness. It wouldn't matter against anyone else, but you happened to run into me."
Twang!
The arrow shot through the air, leaving a green trace. It hit the barrier and instantly exploded, unleashing a surge of green flame. Luke raised a hand, and eight fire dragons instantly formed, attacking and biting from all directions.
"Get out!"
A roar echoed in the void. A pulse of yellow light shattered the fire dragons. Sinestro burst out of the sea of flames, surrounded by a dense field of energy cannons.
Bang!
The void trembled. Hundreds of destructive light beams rushed toward Luke. Luke neither dodged nor retreated. The moment the light beams reached him, he phased from solid to ethereal. The beams passed through his translucent shadow and disappeared into deep space.
"How is that possible?"
Sinestro was stunned. The next second, a sense of danger surged from the front. He quickly manifested a shield. Luke suddenly appeared above him, his body shifting from ethereal to solid. He brought down a roaring Tiger-Head Saber wreathed in green fire.
Clank!
The saber met the shield, which shattered instantly. The blade's momentum didn't slow, cutting off Sinestro's arm and then slicing from his shoulder to his abdomen, nearly splitting him in two.
Luke changed his magical gesture. The flame shrank, turning into crackling green electric arcs.
Explode!
A pulse wave detonated in the void. The electric arcs rampaged through Sinestro's body like snakes. Sinestro coughed up blood, his face twisted in a mixture of shock and infinite fury.
Energy compressed within his body. His figure suddenly transformed into a sun. The extreme energy created extreme heat. Luke quickly retreated backward.
Blinding light and heat pulse waves spread wildly in all directions. The light faded slowly after more than ten seconds.
Luke squinted, staring expressionlessly at the colossal humanoid beast that rose in the distance.
It had two hideous heads and four strong arms. Each hand wielded a weapon: a burning Sword of Fire, a cold Sword of Frost, a raging Sword of Thunder, and a black Sword of Poison.
This was Sinestro's most proficient combat form. Enhanced by Parallax, the humanoid beast's capabilities reached unimaginable levels.
