Chapter 642: Miss Mohun
A Divine Ancestry?
Luke suddenly became intensely interested in the Demon-Folk (Mo Ren). Since they were allegedly descendants of a God from Earth and a local Demon, they should know something about Earth.
The two walked into the shop. The shelves held few goods, but every item radiated unique energy fluctuations; some weapons even surprised Luke. Clearly, these were all top-tier magical items.
Luke picked up a shield, examining it while speaking casually.
"What's your name?"
The Demon-Folk warrior glanced at them, her expression cold.
"Daquire Mohun."
Luke was curious. "Your name is different from others."
"None of your business. Are you buying or not? If not, leave."
Luke put down the shield and walked up to her, smiling widely.
"I'm very interested in you."
Mohun scoffed. "Sorry, I'm not interested in sleeping with a spirit."
"I'm not talking about sleeping. I'm talking about something else. Have you heard of Humans?"
Mohun's expression froze. She couldn't help but look Luke up and down.
"How do you know about Humans?"
Luke shook his head, feigning disappointment. "Beautiful lady, your intelligence is too outdated. Just recently, four mysterious people appeared in Dragonhold. They aren't Underworld creatures, but a species called Humans. They come from the mortal realm—Earth."
"I heard that the ancestors of the Demon-Folk were Gods from Earth. Could you possibly have ties to those Humans?"
Mohun was completely stunned. She suddenly lunged forward, trying to grab Luke's neck, but her body missed, and she stumbled to the ground.
Luke laughed playfully. "What are you doing? Didn't you say you didn't want to sleep with me?"
Mohun frowned, confused.
"Why can't I catch you?"
She was wearing rings specifically designed to restrain spirits; it was impossible for her to miss her target.
"Don't mistake me for a regular ghost. I'm very strong."
Mohun was silent. She could sense his unusual soul fluctuation. After thinking for a moment, she spoke.
"Is what you said about the four Humans true?"
"Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Why should I tell you?"
Luke laughed heartily and turned to leave. Mohun glared at him angrily, her chest rising and falling dramatically.
Adam was puzzled.
"Young Master, why did you tell her that?"
"To test a theory. I didn't expect to be right."
"Where is the gathering place for the Demon-Folk?"
"I don't know, but there should be other Demon-Folk in the Valley of the Dead."
"How do you know?"
"It's a Demon-Folk tradition. They rarely live alone. Usually, one Demon-Folk will have two or three companions nearby."
Luke nodded, then abruptly said, "You go back first."
With that, he vanished, blending into the crowd like a current of air.
The Interrogation
In a cave in the eastern district of the Valley of the Dead.
Ms. Mohun, having quickly closed her shop, rushed back here. Inside the cave were two other Demon-Folk, a male and a female. Like her, they were young traveling warriors. The three journeyed together: Mohun was the eldest sister, the second was Morn, and the third was Moyin.
"Second and Third, have either of you heard news about Humans?"
"Humans?" Morn asked, confused. "What Humans?"
"The ancestors the Chief used to talk about—the Human Gods, Earth."
The two finally understood, exchanging bewildered glances. Seeing their expressions, Mohun was visibly disappointed.
Moyin asked curiously, "Did you see a Human?"
"No, I just heard a rumor. Four Humans from Earth have appeared near Dragonhold."
"Impossible!" The second one waved his hand. "The Chief said the entrance to the Human World is sealed. It's impossible for any Humans to come to the Underworld."
"But what if? What if something happened and someone actually slipped through..."
A strange silence descended upon the air.
Moyin finally spoke. "Big Sister, are you sure that news is real?"
"I visited an intelligence broker before coming back. It should be arriving soon."
Just as she finished speaking, a spirit appeared at the cave entrance. It wrote a line of text in the void and then drifted away.
Looking at the floating script, the three were dumbfounded.
It's true! Humans really had come to the Underworld.
It was unbelievable. The entrance was so tightly sealed; how did they sneak in?
Mohun immediately made a decision. "Third, go back right away and report this news to the Chief! Second, you and I are going to Dragonhold. We must find those four Humans!"
The two nodded seriously, acting without hesitation.
"Please wait a moment, the three of you."
The air shimmered, and a figure suddenly materialized in front of them.
"If you don't mind, please answer a few questions for me."
"It's you!" Mohun hissed coldly. "You actually dared to follow us."
Morn and Moyin drew their weapons, their eyes blazing with killing intent.
Luke spread his hands. "Everyone, let's not make things so tense. I'm not here to fight. I just have a few questions I'd like to ask. Of course..." He changed his tone. "...If you insist on fighting, then I can only apologize."
"You talk too much nonsense."
Mohun suddenly charged forward. The third sibling, Moyin, chanted a spell, and her body merged with the air. Morn drew a bow and three arrows from his back, aiming them at Luke's vital points. These were no ordinary arrows; they were Demon-Breaking Arrows specifically designed to counter spirits.
Luke shifted from corporeal to ethereal, flashing into the cave's interior. He grabbed hold of the dagger that Moyin was thrusting from the void. Green lightning erupted from his palm, and with a jarring roar, the third sibling screamed and was sent flying backward.
"Big Sister, watch out! This guy is very strong!"
Mohun narrowed her eyes, ignoring her sister. Her focus was only on the enemy.
"Stop fighting. You are simply not my opponents. But never mind, it's useless to tell you that."
Luke shook his head. Green fire surged from his body, instantly enveloping the two remaining warriors. Pain and fear erupted from the depths of their souls. Morn couldn't bear it and shrieked hysterically.
Mohun activated a protective amulet. A layer of fluorescence appeared on her skin, desperately fighting the green fire. Additionally, she used magic power to build a defensive barrier in front of her.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough.
Luke punched through the barrier, grabbed her neck, and slammed her hard against the wall.
The Demon-Folk's natural talent was strong, but they were too young and inexperienced.
Luke set up a barrier around the area, then walked over and sat down in front of the three of them.
"The three of you, please tell me why you are looking for those four Humans."
Mohun said bitterly, "That's our business, and it has nothing to do with you."
Luke chuckled and proposed a deal.
"If you tell me the reason, I will tell you the location of the Humans."
"..."
"..."
"Are you joking?"
"It would be easy for me to kill you. Do I need to joke? This is your only chance. If you agree, we can talk. If you don't..."
His cold gaze swept over the three of them, then suddenly he smiled.
"...I'll just keep you locked up until those four Humans return to Earth."
