Chapter 674: Death Match
The Golden Giant and the Double-Pupilled Woman
"The dead don't need to know such things."
"Humans, you shouldn't have come here."
The male snake-person pulled out his giant sword. His body rapidly expanded, and a golden light erupted from his skin. The light intensified, turning into fiercely burning golden flames.
"Hah! Open!"
A roar exploded in the sky. The Golden Giant raised the golden greatsword high and brought it down with force.
A mountain-like colossal sword shadow appeared in the sky. The sword seemed to cleave the heavens and the earth, rushing toward the trio with an invincible, mighty power.
The air whined, and the airflow became visible as vortices.
The three heroes paled and swiftly dodged aside.
The sword shadow crashed down, splitting the earth in two, creating a massive canyon stretching for thousands of meters.
"Scatter!"
The Giant roared. The enormous sword shadow fragmented into thousands of sword beams, dense and numerous, shooting toward the trio from all directions.
"You're asking for death!"
Diana shifted her stance, vanished, and abruptly reappeared behind the Giant. She raised her long sword, aiming straight for its heart.
Clang!
An ordinary-looking hand appeared right where the sword tip was heading. Light and shadow shifted, and a woman materialized—plain in appearance but with the unsettling, amber double pupils.
She blocked the sharp edge of the Sword of Hephaestus with only her palm.
Disbelief etched on Diana's face, she swung her sword again. The woman pressed her fingers together like a blade and, with ghost-like speed, stabbed toward Diana's chest.
Blood welled up. The attack instantly pierced the defenses of the Valkyrie Armor, leaving a bloody hole in her chest. Had Diana not instinctively shifted left, the strike might have killed her.
"Who... who are you?"
"I have no name."
The woman raised her palm. An invisible light-blade shot out, impossibly fast.
Pfft!
Diana's shoulder armor shattered, and a several-centimeter-deep gash appeared on her shoulder. A chill ran through Diana. She quickly retreated. Suddenly, a sonic boom sounded in her ear, followed by unimaginable agony. She felt like she had been hit by a truck and smashed heavily onto the ground.
"What's going on? Who is attacking me?"
Diana was utterly confused. She looked up and saw the bald snake-person wearing prayer beads, and she seemed to understand.
"Your ability is..."
The bald snake-person put his hands together. Sixty-four glowing characters appeared around him. With a single syllable, Clark, who was fighting the Giant, suddenly clutched his chest in extreme distress. He could only watch helplessly as the Giant's sword descended upon him.
J'onn sensed the danger and quickly sent a telepathic message.
"I'll deal with him. Be careful."
The Three-Way Fight
The bald snake-person was about to attack again when his mind violently fluctuated. The words caught in his throat. He slowly turned to face the Martian Manhunter standing before him.
"It's rare to find such powerful psychic ability among humans."
"I am not human."
J'onn shook his head. Red light beams shot from his eyes. The bald snake-person opened his right hand, and the sixty-four characters arranged themselves into a wall, blocking the light attack.
J'onn continued to blast the light while rapidly closing the distance. The bald snake-person calmly raised his left hand. A whistling sound filled the air. The flowing air coalesced into a giant hand that descended from above, attempting to crush J'onn.
"What kind of hellish ability is this?"
J'onn was stunned. Seeing the giant palm strike, he quickly dodged aside. Before his body could stabilize, a strange sound erupted near his ear. A tremendous force struck him from behind, slamming him onto the ground.
Clark was also struggling. The golden Giant wielding the greatsword was manageable, but the fourth snake-person was incredibly tricky. His speed was terrifying, and he was skilled at concealing his aura, vanishing instantly the moment he was right in front of Clark.
The two attackers worked in tandem, one open and one hidden, without any gaps.
The situation spiraled downward. The snake-people's combat power was clearly a notch above that of the tentacle monsters; they were formidable fighters, even among the Gods.
Facing them, the Justice League's seemingly invincible Big Three were clearly at a disadvantage.
Diana wiped the blood from her mouth, a look of fierce determination in her eyes. She put away the Sword of Hephaestus, grabbed the Soul-Devouring Bow from her back, held the bow in her left hand, and drew the string with her right.
Electric light flickered, and an arrow composed of black lightning slowly formed.
The moment the lightning arrow appeared, the female snake-person's expression finally changed. She lost her previous composure, placing her hands in front of her to prepare for a full defense.
Diana took a deep breath, then suddenly shifted her aim, targeting the distant Golden Giant. Simultaneously, J'onn roared, pushing his psychic ability to its limit. A silent psychic pulse brutally struck all four opponents.
The attack caused a momentary blankness in the four opponents' minds. Despite this, the woman and the bald snake-person still reacted: one set up a barrier in front of the Giant, and the other put his hands up, lunging toward Diana.
Boom!
The bowstring sang. A streak of black light appeared between heaven and earth, aimed not at the Golden Giant, but at the exposed bald snake-person. Time seemed to freeze. The remaining three snake-people were stunned, watching helplessly as the black lightning arrow pierced the bald snake-person's heart and vanished into the sky.
"This... how is this possible?"
The bald snake-person lowered his head in disbelief. Cracks spread from the bloody hole in his chest across his entire body. Death and darkness sprouted within him, consuming all life.
Thud!
The decaying corpse fell to the ground. Time resumed its flow.
Of the four snake-people, one was dead. The fight was now three against three.
Diana put away the Soul-Devouring Bow, drew the Sword of Hephaestus, and stared fiercely at the woman in front of her.
"Come on. Let's fight again."
J'onn wanted to help, but she glared him away. With no choice, he ran over to assist Clark.
The female snake-person said indifferently, "What is your name?"
"Diana Prince. An Amazon Warrior."
"An Amazon, then. No wonder."
The Amazons were famous throughout the world for their fierce fighting spirit. Many Amazon Warriors had fought in the War of the Gods.
Upon learning Diana's identity, the female snake-person stopped holding back. She spread her hands, and white light waves burst from her body. This light was not pure energy but a special substance, like the keen edge of a sword or the sharp point of a knife. Even hundreds of meters away, the heroes could feel the stinging sensation of it cutting their skin.
Under the woman's control, half of the light waves formed a white armor covering her body, and the other half became two long blades.
The blades flashed, and a torrent of white light rushed forward.
Diana roared, swinging her sword to meet the attack.
Clang!
The sound of metal striking metal rang out. The white light was severed with one chop, but the overflowing energy pierced Diana's body, drawing a huge amount of blood.
"Again!"
Diana didn't care. Her eyes were bloodshot, and she entered a frenzy of combat.
The woman frowned slightly, waving her hands and cutting out dozens of sharp rays. The light continuously sliced through the air, leaving behind faint black traces—the wounds left by space being torn open.
Diana held her breath and charged forward instead of retreating. Gripping her sword with both hands, she chopped continuously.
Red light and shadows appeared in the air, looking like the red glow of the Sword of Hephaestus, or the reflection of sunlight passing through drops of blood.
Dozens of sharp rays were completely severed, and the blood-soaked Diana arrived right in front of the female snake-person.
This sight made even the emotionless snake-person feel a chill deep within her soul.
