Chapter 676: Mother Entity vs. Dom
The Cataclysmic Explosion
A gigantic mushroom cloud formed over the Plain of White Bones. Intense light, extreme heat, and a shockwave combined to destroy everything within a fifty-mile radius.
The sounds of the explosion finally began to fade after a full three minutes.
As far as the eye could see, the land was scorched black. The air, warped by the high temperature, looked like a writhing demon. Standing far away, the area resembled the legendary Burning Hell.
Beneath an inconspicuous hill, Clark forcefully pushed away a slab of rock that had been resting on him, then dragged Diana out of the dirt.
When the explosion occurred, Clark had prepared, shielding Diana with J'onn (Rong En). Otherwise, the attack likely would have killed her.
The two flew into the sky. When they saw the bottomless pit below, their mouths trembled violently.
The colossal crater was ten kilometers wide, shrouded in mist and occasionally swept by whirlwinds. Its walls were scorched black, as if baked by raging fire.
One explosion had this much destructive power? It's too unbelievable.
Just then, a figure shot out of the pit. It was Dom, the God of the Underworld. His condition was dire: his body was covered in wounds, and one of his arms was severed.
Clark and J'onn exchanged a look and quickly retreated without a word.
A roar filled with rage echoed from underground. The pit filled with countless specks of light, which rapidly approached, revealing themselves to be hundreds of eyes of different shapes.
Boom!
With a violent impact, an impossibly terrifying monster burst from the earth's surface.
At that moment, the light vanished, leaving only shadow. Clark and J'onn stood paralyzed, their faces filled with utter terror.
The monster was larger than a mountain. Its skin was purplish-black. From a distance, it resembled a giant snail. Its head was covered in hundreds of dense eyes. Its vast body split into countless suction cups, each with a tentacle retracting and extending. Over a hundred tentacles blotted out the sun, spanning the sky. Its power was unimaginably dreadful.
J'onn swallowed hard, his voice dry.
"We might not be going back."
Clark clenched his fists. In the cavern, it was hard to tell, but he felt the Mother Entity was huge. He never imagined it was this big. Compared to it, the Dragon of the Underworld was like the difference between a human and a ping-pong ball.
Its massive size brought massive power. Power alone would be one thing, but the fact that it could fly was simply unbelievable.
"What do we do? Should we help?"
Clark gave a bitter smile. "What can we do to help?"
Dom's Desperate Gambit
As they spoke, Dom launched an attack. A hundred-meter-long black blade of light shot straight at the monster's head. Five tentacles rushed forward, intercepting the light-blade.
Pfft!
Blood sprayed everywhere. The tentacles split into countless fragments, only to immediately recover as if nothing happened.
Seeing this, Dom's expression became extremely solemn. The entity's life force was too strong; it managed to forcibly erase the splitting effect of his attack.
"Pluto Dom, you will become part of me."
A hoarse voice resonated in everyone's minds. The monster's body suddenly inflated. The tips of its tentacles opened, hovering in the sky like flower petals. A point of light appeared in the central mouth-like orifice. The light rapidly grew, forming a giant energy sphere.
This is bad!
Clark's face changed drastically. He grabbed J'onn and ran.
Over a hundred tentacles simultaneously swallowed the energy sphere, then blasted out a gigantic energy cannon. Multi-colored light beams spanned the void, threatening to cleave the world in two.
Dom took a deep breath and quietly chanted:
"Trinity, Three-Dimensional Space."
His remaining eye detached from his body and connected with the two others, forming the triangular barrier. The barrier stood in the path of the light beams. A vortex rotated in its center, sucking in all the energy.
Time seemed to slow to a crawl, passing in a second, yet feeling like a lifetime. After an unknown duration, the sky cleared. Only Dom, bleeding from the mouth, and the triangular barrier remained. A small crack appeared in the eye at the top of the barrier, and the vortex flickered.
The Three-Dimensional Space's energy absorption had a limit. When an energy attack exceeded that limit, it would damage the barrier itself. Dom had lived for so many years and had never encountered this; today was the first time.
"Your attack, returned to you."
He endured the pain and converted the space, releasing all the absorbed energy.
A column of seven-colored light shot out of the barrier, striking the monster hard. Flesh exploded, revealing bone. The energy continued unabated. After piercing the monster's body, it left a bottomless hole in the ground.
The monster let out an earth-shattering roar. It seemed enraged. Using its tentacles as support, it flew into the clouds. Hundreds of eyes simultaneously unleashed light. Dom was hit as if by a meteorite, smashing into the ground.
Mental power! Substantialized mental power!
The Mother Entity, having absorbed hundreds of Gods, had become a terrifying existence beyond words.
Dom gritted his teeth and forcefully sliced out a black blade of light. The blade traveled through the air, but its speed became slower and slower, as if trapped in mud. When it reached five hundred meters from the monster, it suddenly stopped, reversed direction, and rebounded at an even faster speed.
"This isn't enough either?"
Dom muttered to himself, his expression gaining a touch of fierce determination. He reached out, grabbed the remaining eye hovering in front of him, and swallowed it. A strange energy fluctuation emanated from his body.
His physical form vanished, replaced by a constantly writhing black sphere of light.
Bang!
The sphere suddenly exploded. A single point of light shot out from within, traveling several kilometers to reach the monster. It was like a needle, starting at the head and piercing straight through the mountain-sized body.
"What is he doing?" J'onn couldn't help but ask. Clark gently shook his head; he couldn't figure it out either. What effect could such a small needle have?
The Mother Entity also seemed confused, hundreds of eyes showing puzzlement. Suddenly, a wound appeared on its skin, but it healed instantly. Then, a new wound appeared.
More and more wounds, growing longer and spreading from its head to its body.
The Mother Entity sensed the danger. While mobilizing its life force to heal, it searched for Dom's trace. Alas, it couldn't find his location.
Pluto Dom seemed to have vanished from the world, leaving behind only the divine power of disintegration.
The speed at which the wounds appeared far exceeded the speed of healing. Its body was being dismembered piece by piece. Blood rained from the sky, turning into a storm of gore.
The Mother Entity let out a mournful shriek filled with agony. Tentacles detached, skin peeled off, flesh tore away, and eyes separated—everything was being cut apart.
Piles and piles of flesh accumulated.
Even on the ground, the flesh continued to suffer the attack, decomposing and splitting. One centimeter was not enough; only when it broke down into particles invisible to the human eye did it stop.
This kind of attack was truly terrifying.
Clark shivered, a cold dread washing over his back, giving him an intense feeling of horror.
J'onn also tensed up, staring at the scene in disbelief.
The Mother Entity was a monster, unimaginably powerful, rendering even an existence like Dom helpless. They thought defeat was certain, but Dom had launched an attack like this.
Disintegration!
Relying on his powerful divine energy to peel away flesh from the body—the pain of that, even without experiencing it, was conceivable.
