Chapter 4 - First Entry! Demon Slayer

Just like that, two days passed.

Within those two days, Lexon did his best to familiarize himself with the functions of his room and spent a great deal of time surfing the web, from which he gleaned a significant piece of information.

The reality corresponding to this internet was clearly not the one he came from.

On the web, provinces he had never heard of, like Zhongzhou's Xinmin Province, appeared, and the famous figures and major events were also vastly different from his original world.

Lexon could roughly guess that these newcomers and veterans all came from the real world corresponding to the Main God Space, while he himself came from another world entirely. The difference in their methods of arrival was likely due to this.

This made Lexon a bit curious. After the first mission, which real world would he return to?

And was he an isolated case, arriving from another world, or were there others like him?

Aside from this, Lexon didn't do much else. He didn't practice his marksmanship, only slightly familiarizing himself with the operation of the handgun.

As a skill obtained from the system's sign-ins, [Skilled Handgun Use] was deeply ingrained in his body and mind. Practicing for these two days wouldn't have much effect, so he just lazed about.

The other newcomers, however, worked quite hard these past few days, practicing with their handguns. They finally reached a level where they could barely hit one out of three shots at ten meters and could fire a single shot at five meters without it going too wide.

As the clock in the room approached twelve sharp, Lexon was ready.

He wore a black short-sleeved shirt, white loose-fitting sweatpants, and a small bag slung over his shoulder. The handgun and medical supplies were all inside. Looking at him, one might think he was just going out for a spring stroll.

Opening the door, Lexon saw that there were significantly more people than two days ago. In addition to the people he had already met, there were four unfamiliar faces.

'These must be the rest of the veterans.'

Three men and one woman.

One man was burly with knotted muscles, exuding a powerful and steady aura.

Another man was bone-thin, as if terminally ill.

A young man was handsome with refined features, looking like a scholar.

A girl was short in stature, with the delicate appearance of a girl next door.

In other words, Zhongzhou Team Four had a total of five official members, including Youmei.

'Each of these five people really has their own distinct characteristics.'

Lexon thought to himself as he walked toward them.

After Lexon got closer, the muscular man swept a scrutinizing gaze over him and said in an indifferent tone, "You're Lexon, right? I hope you perform well in this mission world. If your abilities are decent, we might let you act with us in the future."

"Act with you in the future?" Lexon asked. "Does that mean we'll be separated for this mission?"

The petite girl jumped in and said, "Because you newcomers are participating, the main quest for this mission will be relatively simple, so we won't be acting with you. We veterans will be going to trigger some other side quests."

"Correct," the muscular man said in a deep voice. "You're too weak and will slow us down."

"But Youmei will go to lead you," the thin man spoke up.

Hearing this, Youmei let out a laugh, holding a cigarette and putting on a disdainful expression. "Heh, I won't be taking too much care of younewbies. You're on your own."

"Then what if our abilities are insufficient and we aren't recruited into the team?" Lexon continued to ask.

"Our team doesn't accept trash," the young man said coldly. "Even if you survive this mission world, we will no longer pay any attention to newcomers with 'insufficient abilities.' We'll let them fend for themselves after that."

Hearing this, the faces of the newcomers, aside from Lexon, changed.

The fat man from before was also among the newcomers. After he woke up, Rin Tabane and the others had explained the current situation to him, so he was being very well-behaved now.

Next, these unfamiliar veterans gave a cursory introduction of themselves.

The muscular man was the captain of Zhongzhou Team Four, named Wokeng.

The thin man was named Lily.

The young man was named Leozhy.

The petite girl was named Rara.

Like Youmei, these people only gave their names and no other personal information. Each team member should have their own role on the team, but they only let the newcomers know that Wokeng was the captain. Perhaps they felt it was useless to say more.

Lexon was quite curious about what bloodlines and skills these veterans had exchanged for. After all, every single one of them made his senses feel an"intense power" from the inside out.

But if they weren't talking, so be it. It wasn't as if he absolutely had to know.

"Listen up," Wokeng said with a serious face. "From my authority as captain, I can tell you that the mission world we are going to this time is called 'Demon Slayer'."

'Demon Slayer?'

Lexon thought to himself.

'So the mission world is an anime world.'

Lexon could be said to know the famous anime Demon Slayer like the back of his hand. Although he wasn't someone who particularly enjoyed watching anime, the [Mastery of Anime/Manga Knowledge] he had signed in for had already made him clearly remember most anime series.

"According to the intelligence we purchased..."

'They have to purchase this kind of intelligence?' Lexon was a bit puzzled, but then he remembered that their real world was completely different from his own, so he was relieved of his confusion about them never having heard of Demon Slayer.

"This world has a special type of creature called 'demons.' These creatures eat people, have extremely strong regenerative abilities, and can only be killed with a tool called a Nichirin Sword, or by exposing them to sunlight. To resist these creatures, a civilian organization called the 'Demon Slayer Corps' was founded. I think the main storyline will unfold within the Demon Slayer Corps."

It was a long speech, all of it information Lexon already knew.

The newcomers, except for Lexon, each carried a large backpack containing things like exchanged gold bars, food, and lighters, having made ample preparations.

The veterans carried nothing, but everyone understood that veterans basically all had spatial accessories.

Therefore, Lexon, who couldn't possibly have a spatial accessory and was only carrying a small shoulder bag, stood out like a crane among chickens. That small bag clearly couldn't hold much.

Under the strange gazes of the crowd, Lexon's expression remained unchanged, calm and unruffled.

"Depart."

Captain Wokeng ordered.

"Main God, transport!"

As the words fell, ten beams of white light descended from above, enveloping all ten Reincarnators.

'What a strange feeling.'

Lexon felt it was bizarre. His own figure was blurring, and a feeling akin to sublimation rose from within his heart.

If he stayed in the white light any longer, he might have felt like he was ascending to immortality.

This feeling didn't last long. The next moment, the scene abruptly changed.

A dirt road, the chirping of summer cicadas, small houses arranged in rows, and passersby in farming clothes and kimonos walking back and forth.

Ten people had suddenly appeared on the dirt road.

The pedestrians on the road seemed not to see them, as if they were completely ignored.

"What's going on?" a newcomer asked.

The petite female veteran, Rara, seemed quite lively and enthusiastic toward the newcomers. Hearing the question, she responded eagerly:

"The Main God is integrating us into this world!"

The next moment, a piece of information suddenly appeared in the minds of all ten people.

[Main Quest:

]

After reading the mission, the veterans relaxed, and the newcomers cheered.

In the eyes of the veterans, although demons had strong regenerative abilities, with their power, even if they couldn't get a special weapon like a Nichirin Sword, they could forcibly drag a demon into the sunlight and let it burn to death.

In the eyes of the newcomers, no matter how strong a demon's regeneration was, could it withstand the power of a firearm? It couldn't possibly recover instantly from a shot to the brain, could it? If they couldn't kill it, they could at least immobilize it and then just wait for the sun to come out.

Only Lexon wasn't so relaxed. He knew that the fact that demons could only be killed by "Nichirin Swords" and "sunlight" was no joke. A demon's head could be cut off and it could still curse you.

Moreover, the speed and strength of demons were not comparable to ordinary people. Even the fated protagonist, Tanjiro, would have died during his first encounter with a demon if not for his sister's help.

The demon faction also had troublesome figures like the Twelve Kizuki.

The Twelve Kizuki were twelve exceptionally powerful demons.

They were the direct subordinates of the first demon and the creator of demons, Muzan Kibutsuji, and were divided into Upper and Lower Ranks, with a heavenly chasm of difference in strength between the two.

If they encountered a Lower Rank, the veterans might be able to put up a fight. But if they accidentally ran into an Upper Rank, the veterans would probably be done for.

The difference in combat power between the Upper and Lower Ranks was not small.

However, considering the population ratio of ordinary demons and the scarcity of the Twelve Kizuki, as long as one didn't intentionally seek them out or have ridiculously good luck, completing the main quest wouldn't require a showdown with that group.

Even the protagonist Tanjiro, after training, with the help of his sister, and with both of them suddenly having a burst of power, couldn't kill a single Lower Rank demon. In the end, it required the Water Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps to kill it.

The strength of the Twelve Kizuki was plain to see.
