Chapter 171 - Xu Dan understood this well.

In the original story, Iron Man carried a nuclear missile and destroyed the Chitauri. In other words, if humanity had launched nuclear missiles toward the space portal from the very beginning, there would have been no need for ground combat at all—disputes could have been settled directly with nuclear weapons.

But now, Xu Dan had maximized the benefits of the battle. Not only had he helped mutants regain dignity and freedom, he had also obtained Chitauri technology, along with the Mind Stone and the Space Stone.

So, to put it plainly—if humanity had simply sent in its air force to resist the Chitauri, would they have succeeded?

Judging from the current performance, there was almost no reason for humanity to lose.

As an alien force invading Earth, were the Chitauri simply too weak?

Their weakness lay in the defense of their battleships.

"How can the defense of this battleship be strengthened?" he asked.

The Red Queen immediately brought up a series of data on the Chitauri mothership's control room main screen and explained, "In fact, the Chitauri had already obtained magnetic shield technology for the battleship, but unfortunately they were defeated by Master before they could implement it."

Xu Dan frowned at the schematic of the battleship's magnetic shield technology displayed on the screen. To be honest, as a layman, looking at this was no different from reading a heavenly scripture without words. The only things he could understand were the diagrams.

Let alone him—even Earth's top experts in related fields would likely struggle to understand it in a short time.

Judging by the diagrams, this so-called magnetic energy shield technology was very much like an eggshell.

When activated, it would envelop the entire hull. As for defensive capability, it could at least withstand the current yield of Earth's nuclear missiles.

"It looks like I'll have to ask Tony Stark for help afterward," Xu Dan sighed. If there was anyone on Earth who could understand and manufacture such technology in the shortest time, it was probably Tony.

"Wait, Red Queen. I remember I enhanced your learning ability before. Can you analyze this technology?"

"Yes, Master."

Hearing her answer, Xu Dan silently let out a breath of relief.

This little Red Queen—like a daughter he had raised—had finally grown up and could now analyze such things.

If he could avoid involving others, all the better. It was always more comfortable using his own people.

"In that case, I think the Chitauri mothership itself also needs modification," Xu Dan said, pointing at the big screen. "Otherwise, the energy shield above will consume far too much power."

The Chitauri battleship was not a conventional shuttle shape. The area the shield had to cover had suddenly increased severalfold.

Every second the magnetic energy shield remained active meant enormous energy expenditure. For a ship like this, the energy consumed in one second was equivalent to four times that of a ship of the same tonnage.

"Master, based on my calculations, if you want to modify the Chitauri mothership, it would be better to build an Earth battleship from scratch."

Hearing this, Xu Dan fell into deep thought. If he were to build a warship on Earth, the first material that came to mind was vibranium.

Imagine constructing a galactic warship out of that super metal—how much would Earth's combat power increase?

It might even be possible for the battleship to ram directly into the enemy during battle, saving the effort of firing altogether.

But the problem was that vibranium was extremely expensive. Even if all of Antarctic Company were sold, they probably still couldn't afford enough vibranium to build a galactic warship. Secondly, vibranium was a non-renewable resource, and no one knew how much remained—perhaps not even enough for such a vessel.

"Forget it. Let's set that issue aside for now. Red Queen, besides these, are there any other gains?"

"Yes—and quite a lot." The Red Queen displayed everything she had retrieved on the main screen. "The Chitauri appear to be space pirates. They stored everything they looted on the mothership."

Xu Dan looked at the big screen and instantly smelled the scent of future industry.

First of all, there was mature exoskeleton equipment technology.

So-called exoskeleton equipment—Iron Man's suit counted, and so did the exoskeleton gauntlets stolen in The Wandering Earth.

But the Chitauri's exoskeleton technology was different from theirs.

Equipment worn by humans had limited variations. Xu Dan valued the "whale ships"—those monsters that could swim through the air.

These were actually classified under exoskeleton equipment!

Incredible.

According to this exoskeleton technology, a fully mechanized version of the "whale ship" could be developed.

This would play a major role in enhancing Earth's overall combat power.

"Yes, I'll gladly accept this first technology. Thank you, Comrade Chitauri!"

Secondly, there were items similar to scepters.

It had to be said—the Chitauri seemed inexplicably fond of such things and loved making scepters.

From Loki's scepter, which could easily channel the Mind Stone's power, to the standard equipment used by ordinary soldiers now displayed on screen.

These individual scepters could fire energy projectiles from the tip, and of course, could also be used as blunt weapons.

Similar to the scepters were the Chitauri's mainstream firearms.

These arm-mounted energy guns were comparable to RPGs, but their recoil was also tremendous. An average person might not withstand many shots before ending up in the hospital.

Of course, that only applied to ordinary people. A well-trained soldier would certainly be able to handle them.

The third type of loot was the Chitauri flying craft.

These small craft, which could operate in groups of two or three, were not as flexible as Tony's Iron Man suit but were definitely more maneuverable than fighter jets. They also carried significant firepower.

Used in medium-scale aerial combat, they would be like grim reapers weaving through the battlefield.

Further back were some more "civilian" technologies. Xu Dan wasn't very interested in these, so he simply collected them and handed them over to Antarctic Technology for research.

"And then, Red Queen, is that everything?" he asked.

Having obtained so much technology, he was already quite satisfied—but he still asked subconsciously.

Hearing this, the Red Queen revealed a very human-like smile. The entire screen hollowed out and transformed into a cage. Inside the cage was a bundle of "light." This "light" seemed alive and struggled continuously.

"What is that?"

"Master, this is the artificial intelligence of the Chitauri mothership."

"Could it be… the Chitauri were under its control?"
