Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Expert Luna!

At sunrise, Rose and Luna woke up and came downstairs.

Lady Butterfly was still sitting by the window, looking outside in boredom.

The message from last night was still in her hand.

The sofa beside the window was now her seat.

Last night, not long after Mr. Morleone fell asleep, the same thing that had happened before happened just in reverse.

While sleepwalking, he went inside the backpack and emerged wearing sleepwear, complete with his headband and wristbands.

Now he was sleeping inside the sleeping bag again.

So she just gave the sofa he was sitting on a try, and after she felt the special effect from it, she couldn't stand up anymore and just sat there until morning.

More interesting was the group of traitors from yesterday, the little monster's treasures, which repaired themselves slowly between midnight and morning...

If a magic treasure broke in their world, it was gone for good, except in cases where you could melt it or retrieve the raw material to recreate it.

But these treasures returned to normal casually, as if nothing had happened to them.

Another reason for her to know he isn't from the cultivation world.

When Lady Butterfly saw Rose and Luna coming down, she whispered,

"I put some groceries inside the kitchen. Make breakfast, please. He might wake up at any moment."

The two nodded and went to the kitchen.

Luna said,

"Shouldn't we wait for him to wake up and ask what he wants?"

Rose thought for a moment and said,

"Whatever has the word 'spirit' on it is fine."

Luna was speechless.

Rose was taking him too lightly because he was her savior, and she thought he was just a kid...

Either way, they started making breakfast for everyone.

They knew this child wouldn't eat alone.

A while later, they brought out the food, and just as they placed it on the table from the night before, the sleeping bag opened, and a little head popped out.

The little boy, with a sleepy face, looked around while sniffing.

When he saw the food, he jumped out and ran to the table.

"Good morning! Did you make breakfast for me, too?"

"Good morning, Sect Master. We specially made it for you. There are spirit eggs and some grapes for dessert."

"Grapes or spirit grapes?"

Luna looked at Rose, who had guessed the way this little guy was thinking, and said,

"Spirit grapes. It's just because everything in the sect mostly has spiritual energy in it that we don't add the word 'spirit' to them."

Little Mortal's sleepy face disappeared.

"Where can I wash my face?"

Luna pointed in a direction, and he ran there and returned in no time, sitting in his chair, waiting for the food to be served in anticipation.

When everyone gathered, Little Mortal started the prayer.

"May all be fed. May all be healed. May all be loved."

Then he turned to Lady Butterfly again.

Lady Butterfly smiled awkwardly.

"Let's begin."

While eating, the inn door opened, and a girl slowly walked in.

She was the same maid from yesterday who had been going to be kidnapped but was saved by Little Mortal.

Seeing all the ladies at the table, eating breakfast, she walked over to greet them.

But when she reached them and was going to say 'hi', she suddenly froze.

The little monster who didn't show respect to any 'immortal master' was here too.

Because he was too small, she hadn't seen him at first.

Yesterday, when they returned from the gathering, her mother told her to stay away from him if possible.

If not, try to be as respectful as possible, and if Expert Luna were there, stay close to her.

This way, everything would be fine.

But thinking about something and doing it were two different things.

She was the first person to have a standoff with him.

They had a staring contest with each other—one that she lost!

And now, especially with all the scary rabbits and cats on his sleepwear that were staring at her, she just stood there, motionless.

While frozen, she saw the little monster raising his head.

Blue smoke was coming out of his mouth, nose, and even ears.

Her breathing stopped; her heart started beating faster and faster.

She thought,

'Is this a volcano that's going to erupt at any moment?!'

But the little monster just waved away the blue smoke in front of his face and said,

"Oh, it's you."

Then he looked at the follower token on her waist and continued,

"Good morning, follower number 100. Have you eaten breakfast yet? Would you like to join us?"

The girl didn't answer and just stood there.

Seeing her traumatized, Luna answered in her place,

"The inn workers eat their food before coming here."

Then she signaled the girl to leave.

The girl came back to her senses, hastily bowed to them, and left.

After that, other workers arrived, and similar incidents occurred.

Luna was going to tell them this wasn't an inn anymore—it was the guardian headquarters—but when she saw her little boss not saying anything, she didn't say anything either.

While eating, Lady Butterfly said,

"By the way, Sect Master, last night, Mr. Morleone left a message."

"For whom?"

"He went to sleep before I could ask."

Little Mortal was speechless...

He scratched his head and said,

"Let me see it."

Then he received the letter from her and read it.

[8 times gens, break his shackles, price for power grass.]

He raised his head and asked her,

"Is this a message or a riddle?"

"He said it was a message."

Little Mortal looked at Luna.

"Is it for you?"

Luna shook her head.

Then he turned to Rose.

"Is it for you, then?"

Rose read it and said,

"I don't understand what it means, so it shouldn't be for me either."

Then she asked her grandmother,

"Did something happen when Mr. Morleone came back last night?"

Lady Butterfly smiled and said,

"He came back with the power grass, gave it to... the research team, and then opened something that he called 'a wormhole' with a treasure called 'mirror' to another world. After that, he went there and brought an object back from it."

At the end, she pointed to the floor close to the sofa.

There, half of a 'silver sphere' was sticking out of the ground—something no one had noticed until now because they thought it was one of the research team's items.

Luna and Rose were speechless.

Something like this happened last night?

While they were asleep, a path to another world was opened under them!

He went to another world and came back with souvenirs?

They looked at Little Mortal, but he seemed to be as speechless as they were.

He was looking blankly at Lady Butterfly, and his spoon was frozen in front of his mouth.

After a brief silence, he took a deep breath and said,

"Excuse me, I didn't hear you clearly.

He did what?"

Lady Butterfly explained what happened last night again.

Little Mortal's expression slowly changed from blank to horrified.

Lady Butterfly felt something was wrong here.

'Wasn't that guy you? What are you afraid of?'

Little Mortal gulped and turned around to look at what Mr. Morleone brought back:

A silver sphere, with half of it in the ground, and two footprints beside it on the inn floor.

Seeing the adult-size footprints, he turned to Lady Butterfly.

Lady Butterfly coughed and, in an embarrassed tone, said,

"I tried to pick it up last night."

Little Mortal didn't care at all and said,

"Come out, little mirror."

The mirror from last night appeared in front of them.

"Where did you open a wormhole to?"

The black surface of the mirror changed, and scenery appeared.

It was the same world with the silver rocks and a new—or another—hurricane on a rampage.

"How long was he there?"

The little crystal flew over and played a scene of him going in and coming out with a timer at the bottom.

It took him 20 seconds.

Little Mortal sighed in relief and cleared the nonexistent sweat on his forehead.

"We got lucky.

It was less than 30 seconds, so we weren't noticed by any of those parasites."

Then he turned to the mirror and said,

"Next time, don't do something risky like this.

I am a temporary illegal immigrant in someone else's home right now.

If I get exposed, I can sneak away, but you guys' ending won't be as good."

Then he raised his hand, knocked the mirror, and in a serious tone said,

"Do you... understand?"

The silent mirror trembled slightly and flew back into the backpack.

The atmosphere became heavy.

The ladies gulped and thought to themselves,

'He's illegally in someone else's home?

What does he mean by 'home'? Is our world someone's home?

And if the other party finds out, he needs to run?

There is actually someone who can make this little monster run away?

The 'parasites' he mentions are the enemy, then?'

Little Mortal walked to the big, round silver sphere and placed his right hand on it.

Then he suddenly applied some force, and his fingers penetrated the silver sphere. Slowly, he took it out of the hole, holding it above his head.

He even threw it up twice, as though he was trying to see how much it weighed.

Lady Butterfly clenched her fist under the table out of frustration.

She had tried to move this thing last night, but she couldn't. She wanted to hit it, but it was as if the force entering it was distributed evenly throughout.

But this three-year-old kid picked it up without sinking into the ground?

Little Mortal put the silver sphere back in the hole and came back to the table.

"Assistant Rose."

"Yes, Sect Master."

"Is that drug dealer — black, muscular, and bald?"

"By 'drug dealer', if you mean Elder Iron, then yes."

And she thought,

'Didn't you see him last night?

Don't tell me Mr. Morleone's memory is separated from yours?'

Little Mortal touched his chin and acted like he was in deep thought.

"Hmm... heavy material, 8 times gens, black, bald, and muscular. My guess is correct.

Who could it be if not 'the King'?"

Rose was surprised,

"Sect Master, Elder Iron is a king?

I didn't know that!"

But Little Mortal shook his head,

"Not that kind of king you think.

He is a true king.

There is only one like him.

A kind of king that will never be forgotten."

Lady Butterfly raised an eyebrow and became interested in this muscle guy's origin.

She just remembered that a dark-skinned kid had once become famous due to his exceptional strength and unique muscle structure in the cultivation world.

But she never remembered him being a king of anything—because from what she recalled, he was obsessed with weightlifting all day, every day.

So why was he a king in the eyes of a little monster like him?

Near the end of breakfast, when they were eating some grapes, the inn door suddenly kicked open, and a rough-looking young man with one ear missing came in arrogantly.

From his clothes, you could tell he was a sect disciple.

He looked around and pointed at one of the maids to come over.

The maid glanced at the little sect master, and when she saw he was looking at them with interest, she walked to the guy with some confidence.

'Now, we have a backer. There's no need to be scared, right?!'

The young man, without looking at her, said,

"I'm here for the spirit rice."

The young maid, taken aback by his words, replied,

"Immortal Master, harvest season is next month.

You are early, and—"

But before she could continue, the young man interrupted her,

"This is my master's order.

I don't care when the harvest time is.

Just give me the city's stored rice instead."

The inn wasn't responsible for the rice, but all the sect disciples would come here to obtain it because the citizens in the city were responsible for cultivating various kinds of plants for the sect. The sect would send someone at specific times to collect them from the granary behind the inn, which was connected to it.

While the maid was at a loss for words, she heard Luna saying,

"Leave. Come back next month."

The young man raised his eyebrows and searched for the person who had just spoken to him, as if she were giving an order.

The workers were dumbfounded. They thought:

'Expert Luna is going to show her hidden power in public?'

Lady Butterfly and Rose were as surprised as the inn workers!

Luna wasn't someone who acted this way at all, so why…?

They were both confused.

And there was one more confused person as well.

Luna herself.

She had just been looking nervously at the young man, but her posture suddenly changed.

She sat straight, delivered an arrogant line, and then started eating her grape like nothing happened.

She didn't even spare him a glance.

And none of that was her doing.

She wanted to ask for help, to beg someone to save her from this evil spirit that had possessed her body, but she had no control over her own movements or words…

The young man recognized her at a glance.

She was Luna, the person responsible for the inn and new recruits—a good friend of Rose, the sect master's daughter, who was sitting beside her.

He knew he couldn't kill her because of that relationship.

But for a mortal to talk to him like that?

He should teach her a lesson.

Immortal disciples like him couldn't be disrespected by mortals like her.

So what if Rose was her friend? He had a master with influence as well.

And his master was none other than the middle-aged lady responsible for the sect's storehouse.

What he didn't know was that his "master" had already discovered the storehouse token wasn't taken by the "sect master" because she was still in seclusion.

Not only that—soon, she found out the library token was missing too.

And when she went to ask for help from the Law Enforcement Hall, everybody there was also missing!

That's why both elders with missing tokens were now standing guard at the library and storehouse.

And this disciple of hers, who saw his master standing guard for some reason without leaving, decided to slip out of the sect for personal matters while he had the chance.

So without consulting her, he came here a month early to complete his task, intending to leave the sect ahead of time to pursue his own affairs.

As the young man started walking toward Luna, she felt more and more pressure.

Against her will, she picked up her fork, placed it on her plate, and put a single grape on it.

What she did seemed completely natural.

Only Lady Butterfly sensed something amiss.

She thought to herself:

'This girl is acting weird… Wait, where's the kid?'

She turned to her right and saw that the chair was empty!

She started looking around, but he was nowhere to be found.

At that moment, the young man arrived beside the table.

He glanced at the other lady, who seemed to have something round stuck inside her cheek, but didn't recognize her.

The "old" Lady Butterfly was famous, but this younger version was unrecognizable to those who hadn't interacted with her.

So he opened his mouth and said,

"Woman, ho—" 'Cough! Cough!'

Before he could finish his second word, a single grape shot into his throat!

The onlookers only saw Luna hit the end of her fork with her index finger, launching the grape into the young man's throat with perfect accuracy.

They all gasped at her "grape-throwing mastery."

Lady Butterfly and Rose were now sure that a certain little boss was messing around.

After all, they'd experienced it themselves once before.

The question was—where was he now?

Luna, who felt like crying, just gave up.

She could guess what Lady Butterfly and Rose had figured out.

Back when this little demon didn't even know any "Harmony Technique," he'd forced her to talk back to three black-robed criminals.

Now that he could directly control her, how could he resist the opportunity?

'Just let him be…'

At that moment, under extreme pressure, Luna suddenly felt enlightened.

All her fears and worries disappeared!

She thought to herself:

'I am the puppet, and the scariest monster in this world is my puppet master.

What is there to fear? I AM FEARLESS!'

While she was psyching herself up, she heard herself saying,

"It's Manager Luna for you. Have some manners."

The young man stopped coughing and stared at her, eyes wide open.

He was so shocked that his brain stopped working.

The workers nodded and thought to themselves:

'So Expert Luna didn't like the way this guy spoke to her and took action!'

Luna slowly stood up and turned to the young man, who was now dumbfounded.

"If you don't know how to talk to a lady, then don't talk. Keep your mouth shut."

Then, with cold eyes, she stared into his eyes and said:

"Do you… understand?"

And before he could respond, she threw a straight kick toward the young man's abdomen!

The young man snapped back to reality, and his shock turned to rage!

How dare a mortal insult him—and attack him first!

Lightning appeared around his right hand as he struck with his palm toward the leg about to hit him.

He was going to destroy it for this disrespect!

But the lightning around his hand suddenly vanished, and his body lost all power!

He felt the same way as he had on his first day in the sect—weak, powerless, at everyone else's mercy…

At the same time, Luna's straight kick arced to the right, changing direction toward his head.

The kick turned into a "question mark kick," slamming into his chin.

His vision darkened for a moment, and dizziness overwhelmed him.

Before he could process what was happening, Luna attacked again!

She performed a leg swap, and now he was suspended midair, horizontal.

Then—' Pah!'

Luna slapped his face midair so hard that he started spinning.

Then, in a horse stance, she threw a palm strike at his abdomen.

The spinning man was hit and hurled out of the inn, rolling on the ground outside.

The crowd's mouths hung open, staring blankly at the body outside…

The maid with the number 100 on her token said,

"The prowess of Expert Luna, after thousands of years hidden in the shadows, today finally sees the light of the sun once again!"

Rose did her best not to laugh.

Lady Butterfly looked away.

And there was a low gasp under the table.

Looks like a certain little sect master was shocked by the incredible praise—meant for someone else's deeds…
