Ruo Qiu stepped out into the unfamiliar corridor and just as she was contemplating on where to head to next, a middle aged man scurried over and greeted her. He must be the butler.
"Young Mistress, you are finally awake!"
"Oh, did this character somehow fall into the water and was unconscious for days? Or perhaps she was on the brink of death and is now resuscitated?" Several of the most common opening scenes of transmigration novels flooded Ruo Qiu's mind.
"How long was I unconscious for?" She asked.
"An hour." He answered.
Ruo Qiu felt embarrassed for asking.
"Madam will be glad to hear that you are awake." The butler led the way while Ruo Qiu followed close behind.
She was led into a space that looks like a dining area. At the round table sat three people — an older woman, a younger woman, and a fine looking young man. The man is surrounded by a faint and subtle blue aura.
"That's it. An aura. He must be the male lead!" She thought.
The older woman looked up just as Ruo Qiu entered. She gestured for her to join them and take a seat at the table. Ruo Qiu figured that this woman must be her mother but why does she not look worried at all when her daughter had just fainted.
"Why are you not worried?" Ruo Qiu asked, out of curiosity rather than angst.
"I am. But I also know that you will just regain consciousness like you always do." She answered just as she took a bowl of congee from the tray that a servant had just served up and placed it right in front of Ruo Qiu. Then she gestured to her to eat up.
"Like I always do?" Ruo Qiu asked with an eyebrow raised. She couldn't help but sigh mentally if this character is some weak damsel.
"You are such a scaredy cat that even the slightest scare will scare you unconscious." Her mother said nonchalantly. She added, "the last time you crossed paths with a gecko, you were out for more than two hours."
Upon hearing that, Ruo Qiu's mouth was left hanging.
"So my character is supposed to be a weak girl?" Ruo Qiu thought as she looked at the ceiling begrudgingly.
"Mother." The young lady nudged the older woman.
"Anyway, we have a guest." Her mother cleared her throat.
Oh right! She almost forgot about the male lead.
Ruo Qiu turned her head and switched her line of vision from her mother to the fine looking young man seated across from her.
The guy stood and bowed slightly. "I am here to apologise to you, Miss…"
"Oh, my name is Sha Ru–" Her lips were still moving but her voice wasn't coming out.
"My name is Sha Ru–" Again, no sound. It was like someone just cut the microphone power midway.
You have to say your name correctly. Otherwise you won't be heard!
"But my name is…oh." Realisation hit and Ruo Qiu glared upwards with a lot of resentment.
I did warn you to choose wisely!
She clicked her tongue in annoyance but at the same time, Ruo Qiu also felt a sense of relief for not having used her other usernames. Like her username on the delivery app, Fairy Descends to Order Takeout.
Ruo Qiu took in a slow, deep breath and calmly said, "I am Shalala Qiubite."
"Miss Shalala Qiubite, nice to meet you. I have been waiting for you to regain consciousness so as to apologise to you." The man said.
"I can introduce myself as Lala, right?" Ruo Qiu asked through clenched teeth.
It is part of your name so that is allowed!
"Just call me Lala will do." Ruo Qiu smiled. Apart from the naming convention mistake that she had just realised she's made, this is actually quite the blissful moment for Ruo Qiu.
"Yes, Miss Lala." The man smiled back.
The jet black hair that contrasts his fair complexion. Doe eyes that make one get sucked in. Ruo Qiu would willingly swim in them for eternity. The high nose bridge…the perfectly sculpted cheekbones and jawline…This is a face that Ruo Qiu can never get sick of staring at.
"You are totally my type." Ruo Qiu blurted, unaware that she was thinking out loud.
