Dream woke up early, bursting with energy he hurried to the cafeteria to grab some food.
The cafeteria was slightly crowded. Dream walked to the start of the line, whistling quietly as he filled his plates with all kinds of delicacies.
Dream looked around for a place to sit but found that all the seats were occupied. With a sigh he saw a near empty seat near the corner and happily skipped over there.
Upon arriving at the seat Dream was slightly taken back. Out of all the things he had expected, he hadn't expected that the lone girl sitting in the corner was blind.
Dream slightly grimaced. But nonetheless sat down. He gave a nod to the social worker helping the girl out. As he was about to dig into his food he was stunned to see that Sunny too was making his way here.
As expected the moment Sunny arrived, he too grimaced. Dream suddenly had an idea, his lips curled up mischievously as he asked in a loud voice, "Sunny! Why did you look uncomfortable when you saw her? Is it that you have a problem with blind people?!"
He asked loudly, drawing everyone's attention.
Sunny seemed surprised at his question, staggering back. He hesitated before glaring at Dream and suddenly spoke in an innocent voice.
"I don't have a problem with blind people." Sunny said, his expression calm but his voice carrying just enough volume for nearby tables to hear. "It's just that I was uncomfortable with you trying to touch her hands. Are you… trying to take advantage of cripples now, Dream?"
Dream grinned. He hadn't expected the little midget to be this clever.
"Hmm potato potato." Dream said while shrugging, "Why don't you take a seat, little shadow." He whispered as he pointed his fork at Sunny.
Sunny's expression soured as he took a seat opposite to Dream.
Dream turned towards the sightless wretch who looked visibly disturbed by their conversation.
"Sorry for that, goldilocks. It's just that… well I don't have a good reason for that, it was just fun." Dream said uncaringly.
Dream ignored Sunny's glare as he tilted his head, waiting for the girl's answer.
But the longer Dream looked at her, the less he found himself caring about her disability. She was hot as fuck.
She looked delicate and shy, her skin almost porcelain in colour. Pale blonde hair spilled in soft waves past her shoulders, gleaming under the cafeteria lights.
Dream wondered how her eyes looked.
She was truly enchanting.
But while Dream was admiring her, he completely missed what she was talking about.
It probably would've been an insult or something of that sort, he didn't much care for that, he was in the wrong anyways.
'It's a shame she'll die in the Dream Realm. Pah! The world is truly cruel.' Dream thought regretfully.
With a sigh, he left the table. Stuffing the food down his throat, he placed his plate in the cleaning area.
***
Dream headed to the Wilderness Survival class after taking a breath of fresh air.
Entering the class, Dream couldn't help but notice Sunny chatting up the professor as they shared a few laughs.
The old man seemed to have sensed his arrival as his eyes shot towards him, widening in surprise.
"My god! Two students?! Is my end nearing? People say that good fortune always comes when your time's about to run out!" He said lively.
Dream raised his eyebrow in surprise, this professor of his was truly eccentric.
"What's your name, boy?" He asked cheerfully.
Dream smiled, climbing down the steps, "It's Morpheus, sir. But Dream for short."
"Morpheus, you say? Now that's a name with weight—and dreams, too!" he exclaimed, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "But that is good, very good! After all, we'll be dealing with Dreams our entire time here."
Sunny's eyes narrowed in confusion, 'This old man will do anything to attract students won't he? This is the exact same dialogue he told me!"
Sunny thought, glancing at the old man skeptically.
"Let's get back to your curriculum. What other courses are you taking?" The old professor asked.
Sunny sighed.
"None. For the next four weeks, I'll be fully concentrated on Wilderness Survival."
Dream thought for a moment. "Combat classes, and tracking and hunting." He answered after a moment.
The professor paused for a moment before glancing at Sunny. "Wonderful! This is wonderful! You're such an astute young man! Don't you worry. In four whole weeks, I will make you immortal…"
The man's eyes then turned towards Dream, and sighed, "Ah, but for you, Morpheus, I'm afraid time isn't such a luxury. I'll only be able to impart with you the knowledge of the most utmost importance."
Dream smiled.
"I'm alright with that."
