Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Framed

Silva was currently running through the streets of the Vatican, dodging the lasers made of light being shot toward him. The shots were fired by teenagers wearing battle clothes that seemed to follow the fashion of angels shown in artworks and large churches.

Though the people wearing them seemed to be in their teens.

"Stop right there, blasphemer. You will not escape for your sin of murder," one of the girls who was firing lasers at him shouted while he dodged all of their attacks.

The city was not filled with plant life, so he had to be careful about his expenditure of energy. If he ran out, they would shoot first and only ask questions later if he was alive.

Kronos set up the perfect trap, if you ask him. While Silva was taking care of the other monsters, a spatial spirit had attacked him from behind, transporting him directly to the Vatican, where he had already prepared the crime scene.

A spatial spirit is formed when the child of a god or goddess related to space dies a tortured and painful death. They turn into spirits with spatial powers that can transfer people to the other side of the planet. But they have heavy weaknesses, including but not limited to light-based attacks and godly sanctuaries. Plus, they are incredibly rare; the chances of one forming are one in a billion.

The moment he brought Silva into the building, the spirit had been completely destroyed, erasing any further evidence that Silva was transported there against his will.

And the moment he recognised where he was, the room's door opened, and several of the temple warriors entered and witnessed Silva holding a silver bow with an arrow inside their priest, which was of the same color.

He tried to say that he was innocent, but they never even gave him the chance and began attacking him with rage and fury.

So for the last few hours, Silva had been running around the city, dodging attacks from multiple temple warriors. He had no idea what their real names were, so he decided to call them temple warriors while trying to convince them that it was not his doing. But all of it seemed to hit an impenetrable wall of stubbornness.

Thankfully, the people in the city were not affected. The moment Silva had crashed out of the window, one of the warriors had used a spell of some sort, and suddenly the citizens of the city began to blur from his sight. From what he could see, the spell actually separated the world into two dimensions: one for mortals and the other for the denizens of the gods.

So any attack he did just passed right through the mortals without harming them in any manner.

"Don't think you can escape," shouted another warrior as he slashed at him with an axe, which Silva parried with his bow. But the next thing he knew, he was bombarded from all sides without mercy.

'Guess I am cornered,' Silva realised as he turned his bow toward the people surrounding him right now.

The time for running away was over. It was time to fight back.

At the same time, in the Layer of the Titans,

"Seems like the plan worked, even if the price taken to complete it was too much to bear. But considering the threat, it was necessary," Kronos said as he gazed at the corpses of hundreds of demigods in front of the altar. They consisted of teenagers as well as old people.

"The other pantheons might interfere if they realise what I have done with their children. But with the only evidence of the spatial spirit already destroyed, they will never be able to trace us in any manner," Kronos said, to which his acolytes nodded in agreement.

"What should we do next, Master? Should we proceed with the already existing plan?" Luke asked as he got out of the shadows.

"Did you get that daughter of Athena?" he asked, to which Luke nodded.

"Good. Leverage her emotions and force her to take the weight from you. We can use her to trap Artemis in Atlas's place permanently."

At the same time, near the cliffside,

Percy was losing his mind at the way Annabeth had fallen down the cliff while taking down the monster. Later, finding out that Silva had disappeared at the same time broke any sort of calm he had in his mind.

Thalia was continuously channelling the power of Zeus within her to inspect the surroundings for any sign of life from the two people who had just gone missing. She was extremely tired due to the earlier fight she had with the monsters, but even then, she didn't hesitate to push herself to find her friends.

The hunters were going through an entirely different kind of frenzy. They were trying their best to find traces of what caused Silva's disappearance. They knew they could never let their liege's child come to any harm.

Artemis, at the time, was frozen while standing under a tree where she had felt the traces of her own child. She concentrated as much power as she could while she remained in the mortal realm and figured out what had happened.

"A spatial spirit," she muttered as she used her godly powers to scan the entirety of the space under the control of the Greek pantheon. Earlier, she could have broken the rules if she had done this, but matters of spatial spirits are important, as they have the power to cross the areas of different pantheons.

Artemis then contacted Diana and sent her the current information. But even Diana replied that she had not felt the presence of her child near the Roman side at all.

Artemis felt her anger rise as her helplessness in the current situation became more and more apparent.

She then looked toward the cliffside where the daughter of Athena had fallen before.

'If I can't find him directly, I will find the ones who put him in such a dangerous situation,' she decided as she planned her next step.
