Chapter 212 - Turned Into Gacha?! - 212

Though the situation was still chaotic, the shop owner was beginning to piece things together.

The two girls in front of him didn't seem like confused, foolish children, but rather a special kind of people who kept their composure even in the face of danger.

Then came the word "Valkyrie"—and it clicked for him instantly.

"I'll go take shelter then. You two be careful too!"

Knowing he'd only be in the way if she stayed, the owner didn't linger. She turned and hurried toward the back rooms of the shop.

Once the concerned civilian was safely away, the two girls stepped outside together.

No sooner had they emerged than a giant wolf, standing as tall as a person with bristling reddish-brown fur, came lunging straight at them.

"Hah!"

Without a moment's hesitation, Amber swung the baseball bat in a sharp yellow-black arc through the air.

A sickening crack of bone echoed out, and the massive wolf—easily over two hundred pounds—was sent flying backward faster than it had leapt.

The ease with which the girl swung, and the speed at which the wolf was thrown, would have made it seem as light as a baseball… if not for the concrete wall it smashed through on impact.

"Mei! Let's go!"

With a shout, Amber dashed toward another giant wolf chasing civilians.

The bat in her hands carried unstoppable force as she brought it down hard on the creature's skull.

Its fierce snarl slackened into a vacant, dull expression before it silently collapsed, its brain hemorrhaging violently.

It wasn't that Amber couldn't hit harder, but she had to consider what the bystanders could handle—not just the wind pressure from her strikes, but the level of gore.

As it turned out, she needn't have worried. The fallen wolf quickly dissolved into a pool of black liquid, which then evaporated into mist without spilling a single drop of blood.

"Th… thank you!"

The two rescued girls were still shaken, but they managed to thank her.

Amber scanned the surroundings. Chaos reigned—people scattering in panic, while wolf-like monsters prowled in every direction. There was no clear, safe path to retreat.

"Stick close behind me. I'll keep you safe!"

After seeing her take down a monster in one hit, the two girls could only nod.

This white-haired girl didn't look like a Magical Girl—more like a Schicksal Valkyrie? But she seemed so young, almost like a student.

"Okay!" they chimed in unison.

Even if she wasn't a Magical Girl, she was really cute! A white-haired Valkyrie wouldn't be so bad either!

Watching Amber's situation from a distance, Dark Amber sighed softly.

She pulled a katana from her backpack and, with a clean downward stroke, sliced a charging wolf clean in two without any wasted motion.

These monsters had no internal organs, no blood. As beings formed from condensed magic, they didn't even possess thoughts—only the commands of their creator.

Though a serious threat to ordinary people, they were far too weak to pose any danger to either her or Amber, even judging by the power level of their current character cards.

Don't be fooled by the fact that their cards were set during the Third Eruption—their control over their strength and energy use far surpassed what Kiana and Mei were capable of back then.

In fact, if she wanted to, the current Kiana could tap into her Herrscher form at any time.

For Amber, who had weathered countless battles, these monsters weren't even on the level of Cursed Spirits. No matter how many there were, they were just small fry to be swatted down one by one.

As the white-haired girl cleared the streets of monsters, many fleeing citizens began to notice her efforts.

Even confident athletes who thought they could outrun the danger and didn't want to burden her eventually joined the growing group of survivors when she shouted, "Over here!"

No one knew exactly how many monsters there were.

In less than five minutes, Amber had already crossed several streets. The crowd behind her had grown dense, yet up ahead, she could still see monsters attacking civilians.

As the group grew larger and Amber continued her one-hit, god-of-war–like performance, the panicked crowd following her gradually began to calm down—even finding time to chatter and gawk.

"Is that girl a new Magical Girl? She's adorable!"

"And she looks so full of energy… it's actually calming my nerves a bit."

"Probably not a Magical Girl, right? I mean, a Magical Girl using a baseball bat…"

"Then a Valkyrie? But she looks so young… and are Valkyries even that strong?"

"I think I'm switching sides. From now on, I only stan this white-haired girl!"

As one of Tokyo's busiest districts, Shibuya's situation couldn't be ignored—especially with so many powerful Magical Girls stationed in the city.

Just as Amber was about to take on more monsters, five colorful figures streaked across the sky.

"Magical Girls! Those colors and that entrance… it must be Candy Fantasy!"

Ah… right. Magical Girls were pretty common in this world, weren't they?

A little slow on the uptake, Amber didn't stop moving. She effortlessly smashed two more monsters into splatters of slime.

As the Magical Girls appeared, multicolored light gathered above them, then split into hundreds of magical beams that shot toward every monster in Shibuya.

"It's here! The 'Super Color Magic Flash'—only usable when all members of Candy Fantasy are together!"

…Very Magical Girl.

And this weird phenomenon where bystanders immediately start commentating and explaining after being rescued… is it because they're so used to it, or is that just how this world works…?

Amber wasn't quite used to the feel of a "Magical Girl" genre world—or maybe a kids' show vibe.

But seeing them in such high spirits, gushing over Magical Girls instead of sinking into despair, was definitely better than a lifeless atmosphere.

"Kiana, are you hurt?"

Dark Amber's voice came from nearby.

Turning toward the sound, Amber saw the black-haired girl approaching with a worried look, jogging lightly over to her.

"Monsters like these couldn't hurt me if they tried! You're really underestimating me, Mei!"

"It's not underestimating. Even if these monsters aren't dangerous to you, you're always rushing in without thinking… I just worry something unexpected might happen…"

Ugh! If she didn't know better, Amber would have sworn this really was Mei!

That tone of concern paired with that face—Kiana, you're eating well, aren't you?!

Feeling the emotional blow, Amber wanted to look away again… but she'd been the first to break every time so far. Back in the day, she was always the one on top!

Running away will just mean getting pushed around forever!

With that thought, Amber pushed down her swirling emotions, wrapped her arms around the black-haired girl in front of her, and grinned goofily.

"Hehehe~ See, Mei really does care about me the most! As thanks, I promise I'll make you happy from now on!"

Take that!
