Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Buster Call Order Arrives

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, a month had passed.

The once peaceful island of O'Hara was now on the brink of devastation.

The island's renowned archaeological team had been arrested for delving into forbidden knowledge—truths the World Government had long buried.

The Buster Call had been launched.

As the news spread, the entire island fell into chaos. Civilians packed up their belongings and fled in desperation.

Thankfully, the navy—showing more humanity than the World Government—granted the civilians time to escape.

If it had been left to the Celestial Dragons, not a single soul would've been spared.

Warships were on route.

Five vice admiral-level powerhouses had been dispatched, with one purpose: to execute every last scholar of O'Hara.

Kavi found himself musing bitterly.

'There are scholars in Wano Country who can read the ancient script, probably just as many as in O'Hara. Some of them study even more forbidden things. So why are they still alive?'

Eventually, he understood: Wano was isolated, a nation of samurai nestled deep in the New World, untouched by outsiders for generations.

Its military might, was formidable—too much of a threat for the World Government to move against lightly.

In short—the weak have no say in this world. If you want freedom, you need strength.

"System, open the character panel."

Kavi looked over the luxurious panel and felt at ease.

His Devil Fruit had begun awakening, and he could feel the terrifying power building inside him—his defense alone now required Ryou to penetrate.

Despite his immense physique score, his body hadn't grown larger.

His frame was still compact, but his muscles had become dense and solid. His strength—monstrous.

All his skills had reached the pinnacle.

His armament Haki now flowed into his bones and even his internal organs. As his constitution increased, so did the depth of his mastery.

A year ago, he had signed in a new ability: Purification. As its name suggested, it cleansed all negative effects, healed internal injuries, and even erased scars.

'If only I'd gotten that sooner,' he thought, 'maybe Roger could have lived a few years longer.'

Kavi, as always, lounged with his eyes closed in his armchair—calm in the face of disaster.

The people of O'Hara scrambled to flee, boarding every available ship and sailing as far from the island as they could.

They were too weak to fight. All they could do was run. After all, artillery didn't discriminate.

The navy was almost here…

"Uncle Kavi!"

A clear, familiar voice called from the distance.

Kavi opened his eyes.

A white-haired woman was running toward him. She threw herself into his arms, shaking, tears streaming down her face.

Through her sobs, she choked out, "They... they're all dead…"

Kavi gently patted her on the back. "Don't cry. I've already moved the others."

He placed both hands on her shoulders and pushed her back slightly, meeting her eyes.

"You knew the risks the day you left for the sea," he said softly.

"But... but…"

"Enough," he interrupted. "What's done is done. Now, introduce me to your friend here."

He turned to the large figure behind her. A giant. That had to be Saul.

Olivia wiped her face and composed herself. "This is Vice Admiral Jaguar D. Saul. He saved me."

Kavi gave the giant a respectful nod. "Thank you for saving Olivia."

Saul, carrying the will of the D in his name, had already questioned the justice he once served.

By releasing Olivia against orders, he had cut himself off from the navy for good.

"I only did what I believed was right," he replied, scratching the back of his head, bashfully.

Then Olivia, suddenly anxious again, looked at Kavi with pleading eyes. "Uncle Kavi, where's Robin? I want to see her again…"

Kavi frowned. "I already sent little Robin away. What, are you planning to die here?"

Olivia flinched—shocked and relieved at once. Robin had escaped... but she hadn't even gotten to say goodbye.

She knew Kavi was strong, stronger than most—but facing the Buster Call?

This was a force led by five vice admirals, dozens of warships, and thousands of elite soldiers. It was designed to wipe out everything in its path.

Even survivors were often called flukes.

Then, it hit her.

She stared at Kavi, voice trembling: "Uncle Kavi, why… why didn't you leave? Why are you still here?"

Kavi paused.

He hadn't really asked himself that question. Was it sentiment? Had these people wormed their way into his heart?

'No, I'm just too kind to ignore the suffering of the world. Yes, that had to be it.

And if I die here, little Robin will be sad. That's all.'

He cleared his throat, then smacked Olivia lightly on the head.

"You talk too much! Obviously, I stayed to save you, you foolish girl! Always rushing into trouble without thinking!"

"Waaah—how am I foolish?" Olivia whimpered, rubbing her head, looking aggrieved.

'Still hitting people after all these years,' she thought. 'Uncle Kavi is really too much…'

"Um…" Saul stepped forward hesitantly. "You two should really run now. It's almost too late."

He had no intention of running himself. If he could at least get these two off the island, he could die with a clean conscience.

"No! They'll catch me again. Uncle Kavi, you and Saul leave! I'll stay!"

"Don't be stupid, Olivia. You leave! I'll stay!" Saul argued back.

Kavi stared at them, utterly speechless.

'Do they think this is a game? The Buster Call isn't a joke! You two don't even have a boat! What exactly are you planning to do—swim across the ocean?'

His Observation Haki had been active the entire time. The island—and a good stretch of ocean beyond it—was all within his perception.

Now, he could see it clearly.

Warships. Dozens of them. Large and small. Crammed with elite soldiers.

At a glance, there had to be tens of thousands of men.

And among them…

Familiar faces.

Vice Admiral Sakazuki.

Vice Admiral Kuzan—looking younger, greener.

Vice Admiral Onigumo and

Vice Admiral Strawberry.

And then… someone new.

A tall man with a cold expression—Vice Admiral Kavi.

'What the hell? Someone's got my name now?'

This lineup—even stronger than the one at Enies Lobby.

Two of the three future admirals were already here.

Kavi sighed, rising slowly from his chair.

"Well then…" he muttered, voice low.

"It's showtime."
