Chapter 30 — The Villa of Fortune
They finally arrived at the real estate establishment.
The building before them stood tall and grand, with wide glass doors that reflected the morning sun. Its walls were a mix of cream marble and dark stone, giving off a feeling of wealth and stability. The golden characters above the entrance read "Rongyu Real Estate Group", and the gentle hum of air conditioning greeted every customer who entered. Potted plants lined both sides of the lobby, and the faint scent of jasmine floated in the air. Inside, men and women dressed in suits walked briskly, their polished shoes tapping lightly against the tiled floor.
Bai Xia turned to her mother and whispered, "Mum, no matter what happens when we go in, don't say anything. I'm more knowledgeable about these things."
Chu Sun felt a bit embarrassed. Seeing her mother's expression, Bai Xia quickly softened her tone.
"Mum, I didn't mean anything by that, I just—"
Chu Sun shook her head gently. "It's fine, Xia'er. Didn't you say your classmate's family owns this place? Maybe we'll get a discount."
Bai Xia nodded and smiled, her eyes calm but sharp as always. Together, they stepped through the glass doors.
When the receptionist saw their simple black dresses — modest yet clean — she didn't think much of them. With a polite smile, she called for the new intern to assist. The young intern, clearly nervous but eager, approached them.
"Welcome, Madam and Young Madam. What kind of property would you be interested in today?"
"Show us some of your villas," Bai Xia replied calmly.
At that, Chu Sun's eyes widened slightly. She had only planned to buy a modest apartment, not a villa! But she remembered Bai Xia's words and forced herself to stay quiet. She lightly pinched her daughter's arm, and Bai Xia comforted her with a small reassuring smile.
The intern — now realizing that Bai Xia was the one in charge — quickly escorted them to a comfortable lounge. The room was decorated with soft beige walls and elegant paintings of mountain landscapes. The intern returned moments later with tea served in delicate porcelain cups.
Chu Sun hesitated to drink it. It looked far too expensive.
"They won't ask you to pay for it, Mum," Bai Xia whispered with a small grin.
Hearing that, Chu Sun relaxed instantly and began sipping carefully.
Soon, the salesgirl returned with a file of villa pictures and descriptions. Each page showed a different style of home — grand, modern, luxurious. Some were near lakes, others on small hills, all surrounded by tall gates and guarded entries.
Every villa was designed with high-end security systems, spacious courtyards, and landscaped gardens. But among all the luxurious options, one picture caught Bai Xia's eyes — a simple yet elegant villa with white walls, curved eaves, and a small pond at the back. It wasn't too flashy, but it had a quiet grace that matched her taste.
"We'll go see this one," Bai Xia said, pointing at the image.
The salesgirl smiled and prepared the company car. Just as they reached the exit, a soft voice called from behind.
"Excuse me, are you Classmate Bai Xia?"
Bai Xia turned around. The girl who had spoken was from Class B — someone she faintly remembered.
Bai Xia bowed slightly. "Hello, classmate."
The girl's face flushed pink. She had always admired Bai Xia since the incident with Shang Shan.
"It's alright," the girl said quickly. "My name is Zhao Lian. Are you here to buy a house?"
"Yes," Bai Xia answered lightly. "A villa."
Zhao Lian froze. A villa? People at school said Bai Xia's family was poor! How could someone poor afford a villa? But looking at their simple, refined clothes, she started to doubt the rumors. Lately, it was fashionable for the rich to dress modestly.
Zhao Lian smiled politely. "That's amazing! Mind if I come along? I'm just curious."
Bai Xia could tell she was mostly here for gossip, but she didn't mind. "Sure," she said calmly.
They all got into the company car. The ride through the villa district was quiet, the roads lined with trimmed hedges and blossoming cherry trees. Security guards stood at every gate, and expensive cars passed by occasionally.
When they reached the villa, the gate opened silently, revealing a spacious courtyard.
The villa stood tall and proud — white walls, dark wooden beams, and elegant windows that reflected the light like glass mirrors. The driveway could fit four cars easily. A small stone path led to the main entrance, where a red wooden door stood like a guardian.
Inside, the house was empty but beautiful.
The main living room stretched wide, connected to a grand dining area with soft cream-colored walls. There was a study with built-in shelves, two large living rooms — one upstairs, one below — and a huge kitchen that opened to the backyard garden.
Behind the kitchen, a small pond glimmered under the sun, surrounded by stepping stones and bamboo fences.
There were eight bedrooms in total — two master bedrooms, each with private bathrooms that sparkled with marble tiles. The other rooms were just as spacious, with tall windows and elegant balcony railings. A guest toilet stood near the living room, simple but refined.
Chu Sun's eyes shone as she walked through the villa. "It's so beautiful…" she murmured softly, though worry shadowed her expression. How much would this cost?
When they came out, Bai Xia looked satisfied. "We'll take this one. How much is it?"
"1.2 million yen," the salesgirl replied.
Chu Sun almost gasped. Even Zhao Lian's eyes widened — her own father, the branch manager, didn't make that much in a year!
Zhao Lian quickly turned to the salesgirl. "Isn't there a small lucky-draw event for customers? Maybe they can try that. She's my classmate."
The salesgirl froze — this was the manager's daughter. She immediately nodded respectfully. "Of course."
They were taken back to the main office, to a room filled with posters and a large wooden box on a table. The crowd inside was chatting excitedly.
From the signboard, Bai Xia could tell what it was: a Lucky Draw Game.
White balls meant nothing, yellow balls gave a 10% discount, blue balls gave 25%, red balls gave 50%, rainbow-colored balls gave 50% plus full luxurious furniture for every room, and black balls offered 50% off, furniture, and a new car.
Bai Xia's eyes narrowed. She already knew these kinds of tricks — there would be far more white balls than anything else. She secretly activated her Crystal Eyes and saw the inside of the box clearly: dozens of white balls, fifteen yellow, ten blue, five red, and one rainbow ball — the only one with the big reward.
With calm confidence, Bai Xia stepped forward. She slipped her hand into the box, pretending to search carefully while the crowd held their breath. Then she slowly pulled out her hand — holding the rainbow-colored ball.
The room exploded into chatter.
"Unbelievable! She actually got the rainbow ball!"
"She must be insanely lucky!"
"No one's drawn that in months!"
"She's got divine hands!"
"Maybe she's done this before, look at how calm she is!"
"She's an expert, that's for sure."
"I knew the quiet ones were the scariest."
"She must be blessed by fortune!"
"Maybe she's secretly rich — look at her poise!"
"This girl's something else entirely!"
The voices mixed together, full of awe and envy.
Chu Sun's hands trembled with joy, while Zhao Lian and the salesgirl looked thrilled. Bai Xia quietly handed the ball to the receptionist, and soon, she and her mother completed the paperwork.
When Zhao Lian saw the ATM card in Bai Xia's hand, she froze again — those cards were reserved for wealthy clients with over a million in their accounts. Her shock deepened, but her mind buzzed with excitement. This is gossip gold.
As Bai Xia and Chu Sun stepped out of the building holding the villa's ownership papers, Chu Sun could hardly believe it.
They had just bought a luxurious villa for 600,000 yen — fully furnished and complete. Her hands trembled as she turned to her daughter, eyes filled with gratitude.
"Xia'er… you really are a gift from heaven."
Bai Xia only smiled faintly, looking up at the blue sky above. Her thoughts were calm but sharp.
Now that we have a home, what should my first business venture be in this life?
