Bai Xia blinked at the flashing blue screen, her lips curving into a bright, satisfied smile. "Finally, some luck." The golden digits shimmered across her view—new skill, mountains of points, and more money than she could spend in a month.

She whispered, "Status."

Bai Xia's eyes sparkled. "System, what does this new skill do? And what's that mission about?"

> "The skill Light of Judgment allows you to see a person's heart through color. A small light appears above their head indicating their nature."

She tilted her head. "Explain."

> "Green means pure good. White means good but pragmatic. Red means corrupted but redeemable. Black means utterly evil—beyond salvation."

"Can someone move from green to white?"

> "Yes."

"Black to green?"

> "Impossible."

A slow smile curved her lips. "Perfect. No one will ever deceive me again."

> "As for your new mission," the system continued, "it will be completed once you introduce any modern technology into this timeline."

Bai Xia nodded thoughtfully. "Understood. System, open the shop—I want a pill that can heal any disease."

---

At six sharp the next morning, sunlight spilled through the curtains, painting her room gold. Bai Xia rose, took a warm shower, and stood before the mirror. Her long, dark-brown hair gleamed with a silky sheen from her last visit to the beauty spa. She tied it into a high ponytail, letting the ends sway neatly. The uniform hugged her figure in all the right places—clean lines, crisp collar, and the faint scent of jasmine on the fabric.

She clasped a Cartier silver watch on her wrist, slid in two minimalist pearl hairpins, and fastened a pair of delicate gold drop earrings that glinted each time she moved. Even with such simplicity, she radiated elegance; her beauty was effortless yet commanding.

When she descended the staircase, she found Bai Yang and Bai Xin already waiting, their schoolbags on their backs. Bai Yang called out impatiently, "Jie-jie, hurry up! We've been waiting forever! School starts at seven, and it's already 6:30!"

Bai Xia arched a brow. "Where have you been lately? I haven't seen you around."

Before Bai Yang could answer, Chu Sun's gentle voice floated from the kitchen. "He's been taking extra sports lessons every evening."

"Sports?" Bai Xia blinked, slightly surprised. She had thought her brother's heart leaned toward technology. Maybe it was both. Either way, she was proud—her family was finally thriving.

Chu Sun handed out their lunch boxes. "Eat well, all of you."

They piled into the car. An Yu carefully loaded ten boxes of cupcakes into the back. First stop: the twins' school. Then, it was Bai Xia's turn.

As the car rolled toward the campus, Bai Xia looked at the morning streets flashing by and murmured, "I really need my own car soon."

This week marked the start of her mock entrance exams, and next week was the big competition. Add her company affairs on top of that—she'd barely have time to breathe. Reaching into her bag, she picked up her old button phone to call Stella but paused at a new message from Fu jian.

She smiled faintly and typed back, "Pick me up after school." Then she powered the phone off.

---

When An Yu turned the corner toward her school gate, Bai Xia froze. A wall of cameras and microphones glimmered under the sunlight. Reporters—at least fifty of them—crowded around the entrance.

The moment they saw her familiar Lexus, they swarmed forward like bees.

"Miss Bai, what's next for you?"

"Miss Bai, what's the future of your brand XB?"

"Is it true you've refused to acknowledge your old relatives after becoming rich?"

"Were you testing your relatives previously?"

"A young lady claiming to be your cousin says you were always rude to her despite her being your senior—what do you say to that?"

"Miss Bai, how does it feel to be among China's top ten youngest millionaires?"

"Rumor says your wealth came from hidden investors—can you confirm?"

"Did your success lead to family disputes?"

"Will XB open international branches?"

"Did you personally design the latest XB jewelry collection?"

"Is it true your father disowned you?"

"Have you ever faced discrimination in business circles?"

"Do you plan to enter politics?"

"Miss Bai, please respond—why did you block your relatives' calls?"

"Will you be donating any profits to charity?"

"Who manages your finances?"

"Were you mentored by any major corporations?"

"Do you still live with your parents?"

"Was your sudden wealth linked to inheritance?"

"Miss Bai, how do you handle online criticism?"

"Do you regret cutting ties with the Bai family?"

"Is it true the Bai family has filed a complaint?"

"Why were you seen dining with a mysterious man?"

The questions fired one after another, the clicks of cameras nearly deafening.

"Drive into the school," Bai Xia ordered sharply. Her calm voice carried authority. An Yu obeyed immediately, steering through the gates. Once inside the school grounds, the reporters were forced to stop—the campus security barred entry.

Bai Xia exhaled slowly, her gaze cold as ice. She knew exactly who orchestrated this circus. The Bai family. They wouldn't stop until she bowed her head—and that, she would never do.

She took out her phone and dialed.

"Yes, Miss Bai?" came her assistant's voice.

"I want every secret the Bai family has ever buried released to the media this afternoon. Don't hold back. Every single one."

"Yes, ma'am."

"And deal with Bai Ai. She's grown too bold lately."

"Understood."

She ended the call, her eyes turning frosty. If they want a public war, I'll give them one.

---

An Yu parked by her classroom building. Two students nearby froze as she called out, "Excuse me, classmates, can I get some help?"

The girls practically sprinted over. Their parents had told them clearly—get on Bai Xia's good side if the chance ever came. Together they carried ten boxes of cupcakes to Class A.

When the other students saw who entered, whispers broke out instantly. There she was—Bai Xia, the girl from the headlines, the youngest millionaire in the city. She might wear the same uniform, but her calm aura made her seem untouchable.

After setting the boxes down, Bai Xia handed each helper a cupcake and a small card.

"This card gives you twenty-percent off at my store when it opens. Bring it anytime, and it'll still work."

The girls' eyes widened. "Thank you, Miss Bai!" They almost squealed as they left.

The rest of the class watched in envy. If only they'd been outside too!

Bai Xia moved to the front. Her voice carried softly but firmly:

> "Everyone, I've been really lucky recently, and I wanted to share a bit of that luck with all of you. I made these cupcakes myself—please enjoy them. During lunch, you can eat anything you like in the cafeteria; I'll handle the bill."

She smiled playfully. > "Don't go easy on me. Eat as much as you want!"

Laughter and cheers filled the room. > "And finally, good luck on your exams today. Do your best!"

The class erupted into applause. Even the usually strict monitor grinned. Only one pair of eyes, cold and sharp, refused to join in.

Bai Gin.

She clenched her fists beneath her desk, jealousy burning her chest. Just this morning, her family had moved into the new house Bai Sung secured for them, yet compared to Bai Xia's glittering life, she still felt like a pauper. Unwillingness gnawed at her heart.

---

After the cheerful distribution, exam time arrived. Bai Xia could have solved every paper in five minutes, but that would raise suspicion. Instead, she waited patiently, submitting only after a few others had handed in theirs.

By noon, the school day ended. Lunch was chaotic—the cafeteria staff were overwhelmed by students gleefully ordering everything on the menu, shouting, "It's on Bai Xia!"

Bai Xia merely laughed softly when she saw the bill total later. Money well spent.

As she walked toward the gate, a familiar figure blocked her path. Qing Lan.

"Bai Xia," she said, voice trembling but determined, "can you please tell Zhou Liang to talk to me? He's been ignoring me since you came. I know it's because of you! If you just admit you don't like him, he'll come back to me. Or do you enjoy all the attention?"

Bai Xia looked at her silently. In her past life, Qing Lan hadn't been this bitter. Maybe love had twisted her sense. Quietly, she activated Light of Judgment.

A faint green light shimmered above Qing Lan's head. Pure heart—just blinded by infatuation.

With a small sigh, Bai Xia stepped past her without a word. She had no time to waste. Fu Jian was waiting, and she wasn't going to be late.

As Qing Lan's frustration grew, she clenched her fists, unaware that someone else had been watching.

In the distance, Bai Gin lowered her gaze, a sly smirk forming. She had overheard everything. Her father had warned her not to go against Bai Xia directly—but he hadn't said anything about using others.

And so, a new seed of trouble quietly began to take root.
