Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 – The Plague

Diego set out with Kisa toward the village that had been attacked by the plague. But now… Diego had a problem.

(Angry!)

Kisa: "Mmmmm…"

Diego: "(sweating!)"

Kisa was angry at Diego because he scared her earlier.

Diego: "You… listen, Kisa…"

Kisa: "Hmph!"

She glared at him angrily.Diego: "(sweating… if looks could kill…)"

Kisa: "What is it?"

Diego: "I'm… sorry about earlier. I only did it because Isolde told me to…"

Kisa: "Hmph…"

Diego: "Hmm."

He looked at her hat… suddenly it blinked.

Diego: "Ugh… it blinked… your hat."

Kisa: "Yeah… that's Hansel."

It had eyes and a mouth full of sharp teeth.

Hansel: "Hello… little one."

Diego: "It talks."

Hansel: "Of course."

Kisa: "Hansel, now isn't the time for talking. You can talk again when I've forgiven him for earlier."

Diego: "Mmm."

Kisa had a beauty mark on her neck and another on her shoulder.

Kisa: "Mmm."

Diego: "Oh… that reminds me."

He took something out.

Diego: "Here."

Kisa: "Huh? …Ugh!"

It was an apple. Her face turned red.

Hansel: "Oh… Kisa loves apples."

Kisa: "Hansel! …mmm."

She took the apple and began to eat, blushing.

Diego: "(She's so strange—sometimes serious, sometimes shy, sometimes cheerful…)"

Crunch.

Kisa: "Mmm… delicious…"

Then she bit off a piece, stepped toward Diego, and pressed it to his lips.

Diego: "Hmm… ugh."

She gave him the piece with her mouth.

Diego: "Mmm."

Then Kisa stepped back.

Kisa: "That's… an apology—for taking it too seriously."

Diego was surprised. It wasn't a kiss, but it was close enough—her lips had brushed his. Kisa really was cute—sweet, with big eyes, and soft lips.

Kisa: "Mmm… smack!"

She kept eating the apple like nothing happened.

(Meanwhile)

Layla: "Huh? You sent Kisa with him?"

Isolde: "Mhm."

Layla: "Master, that girl isn't the right one!"

Isolde: "I know."

Layla: "Her ability… Master, you know how dangerous it is… and I'm responsible for him!"

Isolde: "I already know you dislike Kisa, Layla. After all… she's your rival. You're both sixteen, and you joined the guild at the same time."

Layla: "Ghh…"

Isolde: "Kisa's a kind girl… but her power… is no child's play."

(Back to Diego and Kisa)

Diego: "Sleep?"

Kisa: "Yes. The village is far, and it's night. We'll rest."

She removed her magician's hat and cloak. Her body was slim—Diego's type. She wore a white undershirt and short pants.

Diego: "Uh… um…"

Kisa: "What is it, hmm?"

Diego: "…You're really cute, you know. Even your body."

(...Ding!)

Kisa: "Whaaaaat!?"

Her face turned red as she hugged herself.Kisa: "W-what's with that comment!?"

Diego: "Oh… sorry! I said that out loud again."

Kisa: "That doesn't make it any better!"

She turned away—but Diego noticed scars across her back.

Diego: "Um… you have wounds on your back… why?"

Kisa: "Hehe… you could say… my parents didn't love me very much."

Diego: "Ugh…"

Kisa: "But don't worry about me, Parzi. I'll sleep outside. You can stay in the wagon."

Diego: "No, wait. I'll sleep outside."

Kisa: "I can take care of myself."

Diego: "I won't let a girl sleep outside in the cold."

Kisa: "…Ugh… are you sure?"

Diego: "Mhm."

So it was settled—Kisa slept inside, Diego outside, in front of the wagon.

Diego: "Ahh… achoo!"

Then she gently brushed his cheek.

Kisa: "(…It's the first time a boy has ever spoken kindly about me. He might be a bit pervy… but he's different…)"

She covered him with her own blanket.

Diego: "Hhh…"

Kisa: "…Hmm?"

She heard a noise.

Kisa: "Hmm! Hansel… Gretel."

She put on her gloves—her weapon.

Kisa: "I can feel it… a Vinka."

She leapt down.

Hansel: "I think it's a Rank D Vinka."

Kisa: "I see… that'll be tricky. Hansel, Gretel—you know what to do if it gets bad. …And there it is."

Ffff!

A four-headed snake—but only the heads were monstrous; the body below was human.

Kisa: "Hmm."

Her Märchen book floated beside her; from it, she drew her gloves.

Kisa: "Ghost Punch!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Ghosts came out of the book—Grimm Märchen, like all the others. She grabbed them and swallowed them.

Gulp!

Her gloves glowed—absorbing their strength.

Kisa: "Hehehe…"

She grabbed Gretel, who turned into a weapon—a scythe.

Kisa: "Ghost Slash!"

Slice!

She cut off one of the monster's heads. Blood poured everywhere.

Kisa: "Hehehe…"

Something emerged from its core—a lilac-colored ghost. She caught it and swallowed it.

Wshhh!

Suddenly, a tail shot through her neck.

Kisa: "Gaaaargh!"

Her eyes went wide. Hansel devoured her, then re-entered her body. Kisa's form changed—her outfit turned black, her eyes and mouth were stitched shut, yet she opened them anyway. A giant scythe appeared, shaped like a jack-o'-lantern, with a mouth full of teeth.

Kisa: "Hehehehehe…"

Isolde (narrating):"Kisa was cursed. She may look innocent… but her power is terrifying—especially the spirit named Hansel. He turns Kisa… into a real monster."

Hansel: "Kahhahahaha!"

White skin, long tied hair, black sewn eyes and mouth, and a lilac hat.

Kisa: "Hehehehe…"

She struck, slicing the creature's second head clean off.

Slash!

Kisa: "Hahahahaha!"

Isolde (narrating):"And when Kisa transforms… she becomes a monster."

Kisa: "Happy Halloween!"

Her attack shaped like a pumpkin burst forward.

Splach!

Kisa: "Hehehe…"

She laughed wildly, holding her face, tongue out, drenched in blood—unaware that Diego was watching.

Diego: "Ugh… is that really Kisa?"

Kisa calmed down; her human form returned.

Kisa: "Haaah…"

A ghost came out of the monster; she caught it and swallowed it.

Gulp!

Kisa: "Hahh…"

"I think… I can go back now."

She returned to the wagon, covered in blood. Diego was asleep—he had rushed there.

Kisa: "He's still asleep…"

She smiled softly.

Kisa: "…Diego… you're really innocent."

(Meanwhile)

Isolde: "Huh!"

Patch!

Layla: "Master… he's back."

Isolde: "Hmm… it's about time."

Patch!

A dark aura filled the guild. Everyone trembled.

Isolde: "Son of darkness… Nacht."

Patch!

Nacht: "…Hey… what are you all staring at? Where's Kisa?"

No one answered. He walked straight to the master's room.

Nacht: "Master…"

Isolde: "After four months, you've returned… did you find the artifact?"

Nacht: "Turns out it was just a legend. More importantly…"

Isolde: "What is it?"

Nacht: "How is… my Kisa!?"

Bang!

Everyone collapsed unconscious.

Nacht: "Ahh… how I missed her! My princess! I bought so many fruits for her… as a reward! Will she thank me? Kiss me? Ahh… surely her lips are soft… hahahahaha! My Kisa!"

(Imagination)Kisa: "Thank you for the fruit… as a reward, you can do whatever you want with me… just be gentle, I'm inexperienced."

(Bruh!)(Ba-dum-tiss!)

Layla: "(Sweating)… Even Kisa wouldn't give her body away for some fruit…"

Isolde: "Forget it."

Yup… Nacht was madly in love with Kisa. So much so, he even made a doll of her. What he did with it… well… let's just say it involved "kissing" and "sleeping with it." Otherwise, he was fine.

Nacht: "Ahh! My Kisa! I'm back! …Wait?"

Nacht: "Where is she, Master?"

Isolde: "Kisa is on a mission with Diego."

Nacht: "Ah, I see… wait… what!?"

Crack!Crack!

Nacht: "You mean… another guy!?"

Isolde: "Yes… a new one."

Nacht: "Nooo! What if he lays a hand on her!?"

(Imagination)Diego: "Hehe… take your clothes off."Kisa: "No! Have mercy!"

Nacht: "Or worse! What if she… gets pregnant!?"

(Waaaa!)

Kisa: "Hhh…"

Nacht: "Aaaaaaaaaargh!!!"

Layla: "Hah."

Isolde: "Yes."

Layla: "And what if she falls in love with Diego?"

Nacht: "Huh?"

(Imagination)Kisa: "Diego… I love you. Let's kiss."Nacht: "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!"

His soul left his body.

Isolde: "Hmm."

Layla: "Sorry, Nacht, but Kisa's the one who'll make Diego suffer… she's a monster."

Nacht: "Hmm!"

Dark energy filled the room as he stepped toward her.

Nacht: "Watch your mouth, witch… you're just jealous… because Kisa acts more like a woman than you!"

Layla: "What did you just say?"

Isolde: "Enough, you two!"

Smack!

She punched them both.

Layla: "Ghhh…"

Nacht: "Ghh…"

Isolde: "Layla, you're too harsh on Kisa. She's odd, yes—but not a bad person."

Nacht: "You do realize… Kisa might attack Diego, right?"

Isolde: "I know. This mission was a test—to see if he's trustworthy. Kisa kills anyone she doesn't trust."
