Chapter 61 - Chapter: Leaving the Labyrinth

Chapter: Leaving the Labyrinth

Cheng Yu had come to the Labyrinth of the God of Order mainly to complete the system task.

Now that the system task was completed and the treasure of the ninth floor had been obtained, there was no point in staying here.

That afternoon, Cheng Yu packed up his things and left with Mina and Ivennie.

The Labyrinth of the God of Order was located two hundred miles east of Bailu Town.

There were no carriages or flying mounts. Transportation basically relied on walking.

Cheng Yu had originally come to the labyrinth with Joyce, but Joyce had found the Blood Clan had infiltrated the Black Sun Empire and ran back to the Northern Fortress overnight to report the news.

It wasn't known whether the Northern Fortress had caught the great demon Aphra.

Two hundred miles—at normal walking speed, it would take several days.

Cheng Yu wasn't in a hurry. He took Mina and Ivennie, two beautiful maids, traveling along the way.

The green mountains were majestic and undulating—like a winding dragon. Green trees shaded the path. Lush branches and leaves intertwined, forming a green ocean. Sunlight shone through gaps between the leaves, forming mottled patterns on the ground.

The three of them walked through the woods and came to a stream.

The stream gurgled, clear and transparent—like a mirror, reflecting the surrounding mountains and trees.

Wild flowers on the stream bank bloomed in all colors, exuding bursts of fragrance.

In this quiet mountain, everything seemed peaceful and beautiful.

Cheng Yu sat by the stream, soaking his feet in the water, enjoying the environment.

Before crossing over, he'd been a corporate slave working overtime every day. This leisurely life was what he wanted.

Mina and Ivennie sat on both sides of Cheng Yu. They also liked the mountain environment.

Seeing Ivennie's cute and lovely appearance, Cheng Yu touched her head. Her long green hair was very smooth.

Ivennie was already Cheng Yu's woman. She looked up at him, leaned on his shoulder, and smiled gently.

The foreign wife is so cute. Cheng Yu was secretly happy.

Thinking of buying more foreign girls as maids in the future, the dish Braised Pork with Wood Roots is indispensable.

After sitting by the stream for over an hour, the three continued walking westward.

When the sun was about to set, they arrived at a small town.

At the town entrance, Mina saw the shops were closed. There were only a few people on the wide street. "Why is this town so deserted?"

"Maybe everyone here has gone home to sleep," Ivennie guessed.

Cheng Yu was also puzzled. The sun hasn't set yet. Why is there almost no one in town?

The three entered the town and walked on the street.

At that moment, someone patted Cheng Yu on the shoulder from behind. "Brother Cheng Yu, why are you in Kote Town?"

Cheng Yu turned his head and looked behind him. A short middle-aged man—shorter than Ivennie—wearing brown coarse cloth clothes. Looked familiar.

The middle-aged man was followed by a white and chubby young man who looked in his twenties.

"Herman?!"

Cheng Yu recognized this short middle-aged man.

Herman was the organizer of the Food God Club at the Northern Fortress and a heavy barbecue lover.

He was also Cheng Yu's top donor. Because Cheng Yu's barbecue was delicious, he'd once rewarded Cheng Yu with five gold coins.

When Cheng Yu was selling barbecue at the Northern Fortress, Herman was always the first one to line up every morning.

"I'm going back to Bailu Town and passing through this town. What are you doing here?"

Soldiers from the Northern Fortress should stay at the Northern Fortress. Why was Herman wearing civilian clothes and moving around in this town?

"There are vampires in town. I was ordered to come here to capture vampire remnants," Herman said.

Cheng Yu nodded. No wonder the town became deserted before dark.

Standing on the street, chatting with Herman, Cheng Yu learned Joyce had returned to the Northern Fortress a few days ago and told General Barney about vampires appearing in the Black Sun Empire.

The border defense forces of the Northern Fortress and the city defense forces of several nearby major cities had jointly acted.

They'd caught the vampires who'd infiltrated the Black Sun Empire and also caught a group of humans who'd been transformed into vampires.

Cheng Yu admired the high efficiency of the Northern Fortress.

"How are you going to deal with Blood Queen Aphra?" Cheng Yu asked.

"We didn't catch Aphra, but we caught Aphra's two personal maids, who are also looking for Aphra," Herman said.

Aphra's personal maid is also looking for Aphra? Is this still called a personal maid?

"What do you mean?" Cheng Yu didn't quite understand.

"The whole thing has nothing to do with Aphra."

"According to the two maids, Aphra usually has a poor sense of direction. She disappeared after entering the Black Sun Empire. She likely got lost."

"The two maids transformed humans into vampires and wanted more manpower to help find Aphra."

Herman told Cheng Yu the cause and effect of the whole thing.

Cheng Yu didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "A demon who's lived for hundreds of years actually got lost?"

"Though demons are powerful, they may have lived too long, so some of their behaviors are hard to understand," Herman said.

"Last year, a demon led his army to attack the Northern Fortress. He didn't think about how to attack it but played the flute outside every day. It was so unpleasant we all called him the Piccolo Demon King."

It wasn't that the Piccolo Demon King's flute sound contained any magic—it was just simply unpleasant.

During that time, the soldiers of the Northern Fortress experienced the horror of being dominated by the unpleasant flute sound.

Herman's words refreshed Cheng Yu's understanding of demons. The demons seem quite abstract.

"Those great demons are slacking off. Aren't they afraid of being punished by the Demon King?"

"Not all great demons are like this. There are many factions within the demons. Some great demons are devoted to following the Demon King, while others are just nominally following him and obeying his orders."

"I've learned a lot."

Cheng Yu looked at Herman, then at the chubby young man next to him. "So you two are the only ones catching vampire remnants?"

"No. There are others lying in ambush in town. Our plan is to use Sid as bait to lure out the vampire remnants, then catch them all."

As he spoke, Herman smiled and patted the young man's shoulder. "Sid is fat and white—looks easy to suck. He'll definitely attract vampire remnants."

"Sir, my blood isn't healthy. A bowl of blood and half a bowl of oil. The vampire remnants must find it greasy and unpalatable."

The young man named Sid looked reluctant.

Speaking of vampires, Cheng Yu thought of a dish called stir-fried blood. Wonder if it could attract vampires?

"How about I be the bait and help you catch vampire remnants?"

"Boss Cheng Yu, you're such a good man!" Sid looked at Cheng Yu with gratitude.

"I'll be the bait for you. You go find me some pig blood," Cheng Yu said.

"No problem! Absolutely no problem!"

The young man named Sid immediately went to find pig blood.

Much safer to find pig blood than to be the bait.
