Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Ryan — Baby, is that your dad downstairs?

In the Immortal World, protective Magic Treasures also have very distinct levels.

From the initial Magical Artifacts to Magic Treasures, then Acquired Spirit Treasures, and finally Innate Spirit Treasures.

The lowest-level Magical Artifacts aren't even worth mentioning.

Starting from Magic Treasures, these protective items possess various powerful functions — and they are the main defensive gear for most Cultivators in the Immortal World.

If a Magic Treasure gains a trace of sentience under certain circumstances, it can evolve into an Acquired Spirit Treasure — like artificial intelligence, capable of independent thought, continuous growth, and self-upgrading through devouring materials and refining restrictions.

Originally, Ryan never thought he'd ever own Spirit Treasures.

The Pure Yang Golden Bell, Taiyin Jade Ring, and Red Dust Heart Refining Furnace — these were items he only intended to refine into ordinary Magic Treasures before further enhancing them with the Grand Evolution Myriad Treasures Refining Art of the Spirit Treasure Sect in Immortal World.

When a Magic Treasure is refined to its absolute limit, its power becomes formidable.

However, when the profound mystery of creation aided Ryan during his Foundation Establishment, it also bestowed a hint of sentience upon the Pure Yang Golden Bell, Taiyin Jade Ring, and Red Dust Heart Refining Furnace.

That discovery filled Ryan with pure joy.

Magic Treasures have limits, no matter how refined they are.

But Spirit Treasures — whether Innate or Acquired — possess unlimited potential for growth.

It's said that if an Innate Supreme Treasure fully awakens, it can rival a Primordial Grand Cultivator.

There are even legends of mighty figures refining a Heaven-Supporting Pillar into an Acquired Supreme Treasure, capable of shattering the body of a Primordial Ancestral Witch.

In this Marvel Universe, a Pure Yang True Immortal could already rival top-tier multiversal beings.

Beyond that lie three even higher realms — Immortal Golden Immortal, Grand Profound Immortal, and Eternal Grand Luo — before finally reaching the Primordial level.

Ryan knew it would be nearly impossible to refine his treasures to that level, but even the slightest chance filled him with boundless excitement.

After briefly imagining a glorious future, Ryan — having just achieved Foundation Establishment — quickly retrieved the Pure Yang Golden Bell into his Sea of Consciousness for nourishment, then bound the Taiyin Jade Ring to his finger, constantly feeding it True Qi.

"The Dao path is boundless, the future bright — my Dao is full of promise!"

Stepping out of the Red Dust Heart Refining Furnace, Ryan's figure flickered and reappeared at the exit of the underground palace. His entire demeanor had transformed — steady, sharp, and transcendent.

The Foundation Establishment Stage marked one's first true step onto the Dao — a stage of power where one could draw talismans in the air, command spirits, transform into light, or traverse the Five Elements with ease.

Still, Ryan knew that in this dangerous Marvel world, though he now had the strength to protect himself, he couldn't afford arrogance.

He might be beyond the reach of most superheroes and villains, but beings like the Ancient One, Odin, or cosmic entities such as Mephisto, Dormammu, and Chthon still kept their gaze fixed on Earth.

Even with an unhindered Dao Heart, low profile was wisdom.

Ryan was never the flamboyant type anyway. Whether hero or villain, he had little interest in joining their chaos. He preferred focusing on cultivation… or dual cultivation with Gwen.

Less than ten minutes later, Ryan had already stabilized his new cultivation base.

By the time he arrived back at the top-floor presidential suite, Gwen had just woken up from a deep, peaceful sleep.

"Darling," she teased, stretching under the covers, "were you trying to sneak away while I was asleep?"

After their dual cultivation, Gwen — as Ghost-Spider — had not only gained control over her powers but seemed even more in tune with them. Under the Yin-Yang Harmonious Union Path, her transformation felt as natural as breathing.

Wrapped in silk sheets, her graceful curves and sleepy smile could melt steel.

Fortunately, Ryan's Dao Heart was strong. He lifted the breakfast in his hand and said with mock seriousness,

"Baby, this is the breakfast I ran across half of New York to get for you."

Gwen arched an eyebrow. "And you think I'll believe that? You really know how to break a girl's heart."

Ryan feigned a wounded expression. "How could you doubt my sincerity?"

Gwen burst out laughing, then slipped on one of Ryan's white shirts — oversized and barely covering her thighs — before walking over to give him a sweet good-morning kiss.

"Alright, darling," she smiled, "I was wrong to doubt you. Maybe you should check if my conscience hurts?"

Ryan chuckled as she sat down, opening the breakfast like a spoiled cat. The sight was too much — his calm wavered slightly.

Checking her conscience didn't sound like a bad idea… it was still early, after all.

Just as he was about to make a move, Gwen's pink phone started ringing on the nightstand.

She instinctively flicked her long leg, and with a precise kick, the phone bounced off the bed and landed perfectly in her hand.

She froze, wide-eyed. "Ryan, did you see that?! That was pure instinct!"

Ryan smirked. "Yeah, I saw. But maybe you should check who's calling before your dad decides to storm up here with a Remington."

The caller ID read George Stacy.

Through the massive glass window, they could both see George standing across the street below — grim-faced, phone in hand… and holding a Remington shotgun.

Gwen's expression went stiff. Receiving Ryan's silent nod, she took a deep breath and answered the call.

"Hi, Daddy~"

"Yes, I'm upstairs…"

"Daddy! You're invading my privacy — I'm eighteen!"

"Okay, fine, no need to come up. Ryan and I will be down in a bit. It'd be super embarrassing if you showed up here."

"I promise, half an hour tops. Love you, Daddy!"
