Gavin's POV
Thank God my parents weren't lurking outside the hospital room door, because that would have made this whole nightmare infinitely worse. I exhaled deeply, attempting to slow my thundering heartbeat, while Julia stared at me with panic written across her face.
"Gavin... are they waiting out there?" she whispered, her voice barely audible.
I shook my head firmly. "No, sweetheart. Coast is clear. We're safe."
She released a trembling breath and pressed her palms against her cheeks. "I cannot believe this just happened. I cannot believe we were caught."
"Neither can I," I murmured honestly.
Before I could gather my thoughts, she smacked my shoulder hard. "This is entirely your fault, Gavin! We got discovered because you couldn't control yourself."
I grabbed her wrist and yanked her against my chest, my voice turning rough and low. "That's exactly what you do to me, Julia. You make me lose my damn mind. I have zero self-control around you."
