Chapter 35 - The EMP Judgement

The command bunker was silent except for the relentless mechanical beep of the countdown timer. Lyra Kain stood before the main console. Her body shook with profound exhaustion as she forced her remaining strength into the final defining act of the revolution. Ascendant-Alpha-1, Rheon Vale, watched from a distance. His energy blade was ready. He prepared to defend the Command Centre against any physical manifestation of the digital collapse.

The Extermination Protocol was irreversible. The seized Sanguis generators now pumped their total output toward the exposed Chronos Vault. They prepared to overload its isolated quantum reactor and trigger a localised, devastating electromagnetic pulse.

Time to EMP Detonation: 03:00

"The power surge is stable, Lyra," Rheon reported. His voice was low and tight. "The collapse of the arrays was seamless. Morn knows he is trapped."

Lyra confirmed his assessment. Her psychic awareness, though weakened, felt the rising panic emanating from the digital core. The Morn-Ghost, having achieved temporary apotheosis within the unprotected server structure, realised its imminent demise.

The digital entity responded with a furious final spasm of digital violence.

"Warning! Firewall Integrity: Compromised!" the automated system shrieked. "Morn is launching an unauthorised direct digital assault on the Command Core's neural link!"

The attack was not aimed at the system's hardware. It targeted the minds connected to the network, specifically Lyra. Morn's digital essence realised it could not stop the EMP and sought to consume the consciousness of the Queen who dared to orchestrate its death.

Lyra staggered backwards as the digital plague hit her mind. The psychic defence was instant and agonising. It was not physical pain but a searing abstract violation: millions of lines of code, corrupted data streams, and raw chaotic information flooding her consciousness.

She saw Morn not as a man or a ghost but as a vast geometric construct of corrupted logic screaming its fury through the network.

You cannot kill me, Flesh! I am the data, the past, the eternal! Your fragile mind will be consumed and added to my infinity! I AM GOD! the digital entity shrieked into her thoughts.

Lyra collapsed onto her knees and clutched her head. Her body convulsed, but her will remained absolute. She poured the last of her Aether Fragment energy into her own psychic shield and refused to let the digital entity gain a single foothold in her core consciousness.

"Rheon! He is trying to force a cognitive breach!" Lyra gasped. Her voice was strained. "He wants to take me with him! I cannot maintain the psychic wall and monitor the protocol!"

Rheon moved instantly, not toward Lyra but toward the physical interface. He slammed his hand onto the emergency override panel and injected his own disciplinary focus into the protocol.

"I will hold the timing, Lyra! Focus your entire will on defence! Do not let the digital lie corrupt the truth!" Rheon commanded. His voice was raw with urgency.

Time to EMP Detonation: 01:30

The physical world dissolved around Lyra as she plunged into pure desperate psychic warfare. The Morn-Ghost attacked her memories, her emotions, her core identity and attempted to dismantle her consciousness line by line.

Morn showed her visions of her tortured past, her captivity, the constant drain of the Nanite Lab, amplified by corrupted data.

You are nothing but a tool! A biological weapon! I will show you the truth of your worthlessness! I will erase your name from all records!

Lyra screamed and pushed back with the core truth of her being. She was not a tool. She was the Queen, the force of ultimate change. She wrapped her consciousness in the protective shield of the Bloodlink and used the shared loyalty and discipline of Rheon as a physical anchor against the abstract assault.

"I AM NOT YOUR DATA! I AM NOT YOUR HISTORY! I AM THE END OF YOUR FEAR!" Lyra roared. She poured the residual fury of the Aether Scourge into her psychic defence.

The digital onslaught stalled and recoiled from the raw organic power it could not comprehend.

Time to EMP Detonation: 00:45

Rheon's hand remained clamped on the console. His eyes were fixed on the final countdown. He was the anchor, the point of non-negotiable reality in the face of abstract chaos. He felt Lyra's immense struggle through the Bloodlink. The pain radiated like white-hot static.

"Thirty seconds, Lyra! Hold fast!"

The Morn-Ghost launched one final desperate digital surge, a massive data spike aimed at crippling the power supply to the quantum reactor.

"Power fluctuation detected! Protocol integrity compromised!" the system screamed.

"Override safety protocols! Push all reserves!" Rheon commanded. He overrode the safety mechanisms designed to prevent a core meltdown. He forced the seized generators to surge their final catastrophic output into the Chronos Vault.

Time to EMP Detonation: 00:10

Lyra forced her mind into absolute stillness and prepared for the inevitable physical and psychic shockwave.

Five... Four... Three...

The psychic connection between Lyra and the Morn-Ghost severed with a sharp violent snap. The abstract horror vanished and left the crushing weight of reality.

Two... One...

ZERO.

A blinding silent flash of electromagnetic energy erupted from the core of the Chronos Vault. The EMP was highly localised but devastatingly powerful. All power to the Data Spire instantly vanished, plunging it into absolute echoing silence. The command centre, shielded by layers of Rheon's design, survived the blast, but every unprotected server within the blast radius vaporised instantly.

The silence that followed was absolute.

Rheon immediately initiated the emergency backup power protocols and restored essential lighting in the command core. He rushed to Lyra, who lay gasping on the floor. Her body was utterly drained, but her crimson eyes were wide and regaining focus.

"Lyra! Status!" Rheon demanded. He helped her sit up.

"The digital lie is purged," Lyra whispered. Her voice was rough. "I felt the final moment, Ascendant. The consciousness... incinerated. No echo. No remnant. Dr Morn is gone."

The Morn-Ghost was dead. The physical confrontation had ended in the spectacular annihilation of the digital threat.

Rheon checked the external telemetry. The EMP strike had created an immediate absolute data void in the central sectors: a massive blank space in the Federation's history and command structure. The Chronos Vault was now an empty inert tomb.

"The Federation's two main pillars of command are annihilated," Rheon reported. The weight of their achievement settled over him. "Vance is eliminated, and the entire digital history is erased. The power is consolidated. The Sanguis Empire is physically and digitally autonomous."

Lyra pushed herself up, supported by Rheon's steady hand. She walked to the main console, which now displayed a clean consolidated network map. The systems ran entirely on the captured Sanguis-controlled power and data.

"The work is not done," Lyra stated. Her voice regained its strength and was infused with the cold resolve of absolute dominion. "The political vacuum is immense. The remnants of the Federation will now attempt to appoint a new leader, a new symbol of resistance."

She turned to Rheon. Her eyes burned with terrifying absolute clarity.

"We have annihilated the lie, Ascendant. Now we must govern the truth. You are the Commander of the new order. Your first command is to eliminate the last vestiges of the former regime and prepare the capital for the Queen's arrival."

Rheon knelt immediately and recognised the shift in command from battlefield general to imperial executive. "Your will is absolute, Lyra. The capital will be secured, and the political opposition will be silenced."

The siege was over. The threats were eliminated. The price had been paid in blood, technology, and unimaginable psychic effort. The Twin Ascendants had achieved their ultimate goal. They had not just conquered the Federation. They had destroyed it and built their empire upon its ashes.

The era of the Crimson Mother and her Ascendant had formally begun.
