Chapter 9 - Two Divine Beings

The Sun God looked in the distance, His golden eyes piercing the mist around Him.

A vibration came out of the foggy door as someone came out of the other side.

The man only half-entered the room, signaling the Sun God to leave the room.

This was a standard procedure in the Divine Game, the Narrator and Her assistants had to verify each world to assure of the fairness of the competition.

Solatin waited patiently for the angel who had entered to leave. He waited a few more minutes before leaving His throne and going for the fog's exit. He stood in front of the door before turning His head back at the other person in the room.

Longel observed the Sun God's hand wave before standing up Herself and going to His side.

No being could be left in the room or else the participant would be disqualified.

With a single hand movement, the door opened, letting the Monarch of gold enter the Heavens.

"…"

When Solatin and Longel stepped outside the fog, nobody stood in the room except for the both of Them. The Sun God observed around Him, while the Angel of the Remote did not dare look, as it was Her first time in this place.

The tall obsidian-colored wall contrasted deeply with the quartz-color of the corridors, leaving for Solatin the opportunity to observe what was going on in the corridors.

The people that originally formed a crowd, were now wandering around the room, waiting for the next phase of the game.

There wasn't a lot of things to do in this place, which was often referred as the Fourth Heaven.

The Fourth Heaven was a place that had a beginning compared to the other dimensions. As the name implies, there had been 3 Heavens before it.

The first Heaven birthed the likes of the first Sun God, who Himself caused the destruction of the First Heaven, but also created the Second Heaven with His powers.

The Second Heaven was less known by the regular God. It was a rather dark era in the timeline of the divine. Solatin was rather knowledgeable about this period because of His childhood passion for history.

The Second Heaven was when most of the divine systems and rules were created, it was an era more so guided by rules and regulations than by the law of the strongest like in the First Heaven.

The Third Heaven was a place very similar to the Fourth Heaven, that was destroyed by a God, like in the First Heaven. It was most similar to the current era, with a limited amount of differences.

Solatin spotted a large group of people, talking and sipping wine between the hall and the corridor.

He laid His eyes behind the men, where a figure wearing a rather long suit and a tie stood in the shadowy corner of the corridor.

His long, dark blue hair that matched perfectly with His eyes, made Him blend in the shadow quite well, especially behind a group of person like in this case.

Solatin could not help but smile at the mysterious and shadowy figure.

The Sun God walked towards the group of people.

Soon, the crowd moved away at a rapid pace, trying not to show their bitter expressions.

"Will thee not come to greet me, my dearest friend?"

The man with the golden hair and the one with the indigo hair looked at each other. One shone bright under the spotlights, while the other remained calm under the shadows of the corridor.

The dark man partially stepped out of the shadow, as to reveal His identity.

Uqlurius!

"I thought you had already left, most of the other participants left a while ago" He said warmly.

Uqlurius turned His head towards the second person, the one who stood beside the Monarch of gold.

"And may I have the pleasure to know who this… person might be?" Uqlurius included, voluntarily or not, a long pause in the middle of His sentence.

Uqlurius smiled at the angel with a warm smile as He patiently waited for the answer, either from the angel or the Sun God.

The Monarch spoke first. "'Tis my first angel for this game, She is Longel, Angel of the Remote."

Uqlurius smiled at His friend's answer.

"That is quite an interesting concept this time around. You usually choose things closer to you I believe… Perhaps you may have changed taste? Or have you found a new emotion to visit?"

If anybody else were the one to speak as such to Solatin, they would have long lost their life.

"I wanted to do things differently this time. It is as simple as it seems." The Sun God said with such nonchalance.

"Hmm…" Uqlurius made a sound that meant all that it meant.

"Angel of the Remote, I think it's quite a unique concept. The remote as in something far away, both physically and spiritually. It is also associated with the concept of longing. The remote is only interesting because we seek it. Nobody would care about a sheep that could never be reached, but seeking powers that we cannot attain is another story." His voice express His thoughts without refrain.

"Thou art always trying to decipher each and every of my decisions." Solatin sighed heavily.

"Ho… But is but the fun part about this life. Decrypting each and every thing that exists, finding the meaning of things. I'm sure the younger you would have loved to do this, how you have changed my dearest friend." He produced a slight grin, half visible because of the shadow.

"Understanding a story and telling your own interpretation, isn't that what life is about?"

Solatin looked at Uqlurius with a perplexed expression, He tried to think about the philosophy of His friend, but could not truly comprehend the meaning behind His charade, even though He could make out the basic symbolism of Uqlurius's message.

The Sun God smiled at Him and scratched His chin. "I suppose I can understand. However we may live our lives, some things can only be viewed on an objective level."

Uqlurius laughed audibly.

He turned around in the shadow and marched forward to an unknown place, deep in the darkness of the shadows, behind the stage.

"I hope we have the chance to meet again soon, Fated Messiah." He waved His hand at Solatin while laughing.

The Sun God observed His departing with a cold and bitter expression on His face.

Slowly, Uqlurius blended with the darkness and soon disappeared into the depths of the abyss.

As He finally came back from His captivating encounter with the God of Theatre, the Sun God finally noticed the absence of people in the surroundings.

It seemed most people had left as soon as the conversation between the two men began.

Solatin looked back at the shadow covering the quartz wall and sighed as He looked upwards.

"Fated Messiah…"

His laugh was cold and deranged, almost blood-chilling.

"One hadn't addressed me as such in a long time."

Longel looked at Her master in His long white attire, Her eyes in a mixture of fear and calmness.

It was a sentiment that could not be determined, nor classified.

It was the emotion of someone who had just witnessed a conversation between two supreme beings.

The shadow slowly overtook Her body, covering the corridor and hiding its splendid white color and majestic architectural design.

For the first time since entering the place, she noticed that the walls had patterns of what looked like stars.

She paid closer attention, for some reason, Her mind could only be mesmerized by the art of the walls.

The design showed a wide stage with someone in the middle, it seemed like the person was making a spectacle for dozens of stars, all listening to the being.

She tried looking further into it but soon heard Her master call for Her name.

She lifted Her head and saw the Sun God in the distance.

It seemed She had been distracted by the architectural choices of this place for quite a while now.

Looking at the man at the end of the hallway, She noticed a change in the lighting.

Her side of the corridor was almost entirely engulfed in a thick darkness, while Solatin stood alone in the light.

"What are waiting for, angel, the day is not over, I shall show you the beauty of the Fourth Heaven." The Sun God smiled brightly.

The man seemed impressive now that She stood far from Him.

He was almost…

Captivating.

Vibrant.

Hypnotizing.

Longel looked at His large back for a bit, before nodding and walking towards Solatin.

She stepped into the Monarch's light and out of the shadow.

For the first time since Her creation, Longel thought She understood why He was the Sun God.
