[Generating Quest...]
[Appropriate Quest has been found!]
[Quest Name: "Dear Neighbour".]
'What kind of name is that?' Tyler scratched his head.
Deep down, he was hoping that the Quest involved one neighbour in particular.
[Quest Reward: "Mild Stat Improvement Coupon".]
[Stat Improvement Coupons can be used to increase the Stats in a Stat Category of your choice.]
"So it improves the whole Category?!" Tyler asked out loud. "Not just one Stat, but the whole Category! With one of them, I could improve my whole face or my whole body..."
Sure, it would be a Mild improvement, but that still could help a ton!
[Do you accept the Quest?]
Tyler scratched his chin for a moment, staring at the System Message with a raised eyebrow.
'Why is it asking me if I accept? I was told about the Reward, but I wasn't told about any Penalty for failing or for refusing the Quest, so there shouldn't be any...' Tyler thought. "Are there any Penalties for failing the Quest?" He asked to make sure.
[There are no Penalties apart from your life remaining the same.]
'Touché.' Tyler coughed. 'That is a Penalty of sorts.'
[Sub-Quests will be issued as you progress through the Quest.]
[Accepting and Failing to Clear Sub-Quests can lead to Penalties.]
'I see. I'll have to think carefully before accepting any Sub-Quest...' Tyler's thought trailed off as he noticed. "Sub-Quests..." He started. "That means I can get even more Rewards while clearing the Quest, doesn't it?"
Tyler quickly grabbed his phone to check the time.
"Quarter past midnight..." He grimaced. "How long will this Quest take? I'll have to get some sleep since I do have work in the morning." Tyler immediately shook his head. "Oh, who gives a shit about work right now. I accept the Quest! Changing my situation is way more important than thinking about tomorrow's shift at work!"
It's not like Tyler had never gone to work after having spent the night awake, either drinking with friends, gaming, or even, and more often, having some relaxing, dopamine-releasing, forearm-exhausting, fluid-draining, alone time.
[You have accepted the Quest "Dear Neighbour"!]
[Clear Condition: Make your way to the presented locations.]
"That it?"
As Tyler asked that question, a luminous arrow appeared in front of him.
He stepped forward, and the arrow moved with him.
"It's showing me the way." Tyler thought for a moment before nodding. "Alright, I'll follow you."
It didn't take long for the arrow to bring him to the door.
"Of course..." Tyler had hoped that the Quest somehow wouldn't involve leaving his apartment. "I should probably change if..."
His words trailed off as System Messages appeared.
[Sub-Quest: "Comfy Clothing".]
[Sub-Quest Clear Condition: Clear the Quest "Dear Neighbour" without changing.]
[Sub-Quest Reward: 1 Stat Point to assign to the Stat of your choosing.]
'One Stat Points might not sound like a lot, but Charisma and Facial Stats are maxed at 25! One Stat Point is huge!'
[Penalty for changing before Clearing the "Dear Neighbour" Quest: 1 Stat Point deducted randomly.]
"Hm." Tyler scratched his chin. "Basically, if I want to change, I need to do it now and not accept the Sub-Quest... Leaving like this shouldn't be a problem, and it's not like I'll change while on the way to the location the System is taking me to. I don't see a way for me to fail this Sub-Quest."
[You have accepted the Sub-Quest: "Comfy Clothing"!]
"Alright, then." Tyler took a deep breath and walked up to the door.
Tank top, shorts, and sandals.
"For a midnight walk outside, this isn't too bad." He shrugged, and pushed the door open. "I hope it doesn't end up taking me to a club or something...'
The arrow guided him away from his apartment, out of the building, and onto the sidewalk.
'This is pretty exciting, going out with no idea where I'm going.' Tyler thought to himself as he watched the empty street.
He walked on the sidewalk and, not even twenty steps from the door of his building,
'Huh?'
The arrow did a sudden 90-degree turn.
'Where are you taking me?' Tyler thought with a gulp. 'The building right next to mine... Why is the arrow pointing at the lawn around the building rather than the door?'
Having it pointing at the door would have been just as strange, of course.
Tyler stared at the fence separating the two lawns.
'You're not going to make me jump into someone's apartment through their window, are you?' He shook his head and walked towards the building's entrance, circling around the fence, before stepping onto the lawn. 'Let's hope this goes well.'
Tyler walked into the dark passage between the two buildings, the fence splitting it into two narrow lanes.
'I can see my window from here.' He sighed. 'Alright, let's...'
Tyler's words trailed off as the arrow wanted him further from the fence, closer to the building and its wall.
This meant squeezing behind the bushes and pressing himself against the wall.
'Fuck... Anyone seeing me like this will think I'm planning a robbery or something!'
Tyler gulped and sidestepped along the wall, moving quietly and slowly so he wouldn't brush against the bushes.
'Thankfully, the streetlamps don't light up this area... Just where are you taking me?'
Eventually, the arrow disappeared.
The next second, it reappeared, pointing downward, just a couple of steps in front of Tyler.
'Good, that was easy enough. First location down.' Tyler thought as he approached the desired location. 'What was the point of this, though? It was slightly stressful but...'
Tyler took another step, stood below the arrow, and froze.
'Wait, this is...' His head slowly, very slowly, turned to the side. 'It's...!'
Inches from Tyler's face was the very window he could see from his own apartment.
The window was shut, and the curtains were pulled together.
It was impossible to see anything through... Except from the exact position that Tyler was standing on.
The curtains were parted just enough for his eye to peek through, and as his eye noticed what was inside his neighbour Olivia's room... Tyler completely forgot about the Quest or the System.
[You have reached the 1st Location.]
[Quest "Dear Neighbour" Progress: 33%.]
Tyler's eyes completely ignored those System Messages, locked completely on Olivia's incredible body, covered by incredibly tight pyjamas, lying on her stomach with her butt tightly embraced by the fabric.
Gulp-
