Chapter 11 - Chapter 10

What sin have I committed? The climax hasn't even begun, yet I already feel like I'm about to die.

"Hey." I froze when I heard that voice. Swallowing hard, I turned around and saw Hevis staring at me, his expression deadly serious. "Follow me."

He stood and walked away without another word. I followed him. Out of the eight men, he and Eros were the ones I feared most. They killed people even before they met Sol—simply because they could. I understood why Hevis was like this. He was kidnapped once, forced to watch his comrade die right before his eyes. He only survived because he killed his captor first. He started killing at the age of eight. Rarely did he kill women; his victims were mostly men. We stopped walking, and I realized we were standing before the library. My brows furrowed.

"What are we doing—"

"I don't want you to ask stupid questions." I rolled my eyes. Cold and arrogant as always. I honestly didn't know how Sol managed to tolerate this man. Sighing, I entered the library.

He began selecting books, while I—his unfortunate servant—carried them all. By the time he was done, I could barely see over the mountain of books in my arms. I let out a deep sigh of relief when he finally stopped. Would it kill him to help me? He walked away again, and I hurried to follow. When he sat down, I placed the books on the table and dropped onto the chair opposite him, exhausted. Finally, I could rest— Then he reached out, patted my head, and smiled warmly.

"Good job… maid." The world slowed for a moment. My heart betrayed me, skipping a beat—only for his last word to ruin the fragile peace. Maid. Of course. I sighed inwardly. If I weren't destined to die, maybe I wouldn't have to endure this humiliation.

"If you have no other orders for me, I'll be leaving now," I said. As I stood, he grabbed my wrist, his eyes sharp as blades.

"You're not going anywhere, Luna. Not until I say so." I swallowed hard. He released me, and I had to remind myself—this man was known as the serious psychopath. He looked like a normal student by day, but at night, he accompanied Eros to hunt and kill. I stared at the pile of books in front of me. What exactly was I supposed to do? Just sit here and wait? He rested his chin on his hand, watching me intently. His gaze made my skin crawl. What did this infuriating man want now?"I know you saw Eros kill that student," he said suddenly. My body froze.

"I have no idea what you're talking about, Hermoso. And what did you just say? Kill? Oh, stop joking around." He smirked.

"You're a good actress, Luna. I'm impressed."

...

I saw Cl talking to a girl. Perfect. Maybe I could use this chance to stay away from Hevis. Just as I was about to approach him, someone's hand landed on my shoulder. Slowly, I turned around—and met Hevis's smile.

"Where do you think you're going? Your job isn't done yet," he said coldly.

"Umm… I'm just going to my boyfriend," I said. He looked past me, his gaze falling on Cl.

"Boyfriend?" I nodded quickly. His eyes returned to mine, cold and unwavering. "Break up with him."

Before I could react, he pulled me away. As we passed Cl, I saw the shock—and anger—in his eyes. That same look he had the night Hevis kidnapped Sol.

...

"Um, what exactly am I supposed to do?" I asked. I'd been standing in his dark living room for a while. He was sitting on the couch, watching TV, the only light coming from the flickering screen.

"Sit beside me," he said.

"Huh?" He didn't answer, his eyes glued to the television. With a sigh, I sat next to him. Silence filled the room—heavy, suffocating. "I order you to break up with him." I turned to him, startled.

"Huh?"

"Cl," he said flatly.

"I can't do that—"

"You're my maid. You obey your master." His tone left no room for argument. Why did Kio and Hevis both want me to break up with Cl? It wasn't even real—we were pretending. But I couldn't defy Hevis; disobedience might mean death.

"Sir, I'm only here to take care of you. You can't interfere with my personal life," I said firmly. He leaned closer, and I instinctively pulled back.

"You're such a bad kitten, Luna." His voice was a low threat. "One day, I'll make you break up with him."

"Why do you even care if I'm with Cl?" I asked, though his attention was still fixed on the TV.

"You know what kind of man Cl is," he said. "A playboy. I don't want him breaking your heart." His words made me freeze. When he looked at me, I quickly averted my eyes.

"It's none of your business, Hermoso." A faint, dangerous smile touched his lips.

"I'm the only one allowed to hurt my maid," he whispered. "Break up with him… and I'll court you."

My eyes widened. He chuckled darkly. In the story, Luna and Hevis were never close. He hated her—loathed her. But now… things felt different.

"If I ever became your girlfriend," I muttered under my breath, "I'd probably die before the hour's over."

"What was that?"

"Nothing," I said quickly, forcing a smile. I stood and glanced at the clock. 5:30 p.m. Time to go home. "I have to go now," I said. He nodded silently, eyes following me as I turned to leave. Finally—

"Stupid clock," he said. I froze. Slowly, I looked back at him.

"What?" He didn't look away from the TV. "What? Are you not leaving?" he asked coldly.

I frowned and turned around again. Maybe… I'd only imagined it.
