Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Airship in the Points Mall

Unable to explain himself, Alex Carter found himself escorted to the Police Station by several Officer Jennys. His identity needed verification.

Thinking quickly, Alex gave the name of Professor Oak from Pallet Town, knowing the professor could vouch for him, as he had grown up there.

With a figure like Professor Oak to confirm his identity, things would surely smooth out.

At the Police Station, Officer Jenny initiated a remote video call with Professor Oak.

"Professor Oak, this is the Viridian City Police Station. We have a Trainer with a suspicious identity needing confirmation. He claims to be from Pallet Town."

Far away in his lab, Professor Oak was enjoying a hotpot.

"What? A suspicious Trainer?"

"Yes, his name is Alex Carter," Officer Jenny replied.

"Ah, Alex, has he started his journey? Let him speak with me. This boy is peculiar; he didn't even tell me he was leaving or pick up a starter Pokémon, just like his eccentric father," Professor Oak said, setting his chopsticks aside.

Hearing this, Officer Jenny adjusted the camera to show Alex.

"Professor Oak, I'm sorry for the trouble," Alex apologized.

"It really is you, Alex."

"Have you just started your journey? What, did you get into trouble as soon as you arrived in Viridian City?" Professor Oak asked, concerned.

"Yes, I started my journey. I caught a Gastly before leaving. I wanted to challenge the Gym here, but it was closed. Then I met a shoemaker who turned out to be the Pokémon thief, Locaki."

Alex recounted the events, omitting key details.

"Officer Jenny, this must be a misunderstanding. Alex is from Pallet Town; I've watched him grow up. He's not with Team Rocket. Please release him," Professor Oak assured.

"Oh, I see. With your word, Professor Oak, I believe it," Officer Jenny said warmly.

She then looked at Alex with a hint of apology. "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Team Rocket has been very active recently, committing crimes everywhere, so we must be vigilant."

...After Professor Oak's confirmation, Alex was released from the Police Station.

He mentioned meeting Ash in Viridian Forest, but at this point, Ash hadn't gained much attention from Professor Oak.

Professor Oak's grandson, Gary, had already caught over a dozen Pokémon, and Oak believed Gary was more likely to become a powerful Trainer.

Unsure of his next destination, Alex had originally come to Viridian City to find a video phone to inform his father of his safety. But learning his father had already emerged from seclusion changed things.

Reflecting on his father's sacrifices for his peaceful growth, Alex realized his father couldn't resist coming out shortly after Alex left.

Finding a small drink shop, Alex ordered a beverage and reviewed the original Pokémon anime plot. Familiar with the storyline, he calculated Ash's progress. By now, Ash should have acquired the gray and blue badges.

With the protagonist's aura, Ash defeated Brock at the Pewter City Gym, even gaining him as a travel companion.

Upon reaching Cerulean City, Ash discovered the Gym Leaders were Misty's three beautiful sisters.

Ash simply helped clean the Gym and obtained a blue badge without much delay, akin to cheating.

Along the way, he caught a determined Charmander, a forest-guarding Bulbasaur, and a goofy Squirtle. These Pokémon became strong in later stages.

However, these developments didn't interest Alex much.

Reviewing the plot revealed Mt. Moon in Pewter City housed a large group of Clefairy with many Moon Stones.

The system informed Alex that one Moon Stone could be recycled for two thousand points.

A lucrative opportunity!

And remembering the show, what was that giant Pokémon making strange sounds under the Vermilion City Lighthouse?

There were also Aerodactyl, Crystal Onix, and others Ash encountered but couldn't catch.

With these plots in mind, Alex decided on his next steps.

First, he would travel to the eight cities' Gyms.

He aimed to collect all eight badges and participate in the Indigo League.

His father sending the green badge implied he hoped Alex would compete.

The Indigo League was the best venue for new Trainers to test their Pokémon's strength.

He wouldn't miss it!

Additionally, special places between cities offered good Pokémon worth checking out. Perhaps he could catch some worth long-term training.

"I've wasted enough time in Viridian City; I can't keep stalling. Next stop is Pewter City for the gray badge, then into Mt. Moon to deal with those Clefairy and collect the Moon Stones," Alex resolved.

However, traveling from Viridian City to Pewter City required passing through Viridian Forest. Having spent over ten days there, he was reluctant to return.

The Pokémon inside posed little threat or benefit for his Pokémon's growth. He couldn't afford further delays.

"Oh, right, I saw airships in the point mall, didn't I?"

Summoning the system, Alex browsed the point mall. With fifteen thousand points, he was relatively well-off.

After browsing, he settled on a high-speed airship.

It cost eight thousand points.

Though it made his heart ache, the airship would make traveling much easier.

After purchasing the high-speed airship, Alex went outside Viridian City, found a secluded spot, released the airship, set his destination, and took off towards Pewter City.
