Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Withdrawing Again

"Buying a house? The Guild has dorms..."

At the Mage Guild, most Mages either rent houses or live in dorms; very few buy their own homes.

"No, I don't like living in dorms. I want my own house."

Since arriving in this world, Kevin wanted to put down roots, and owning a home felt like a significant step.

"Hmm... Do you have any specific requirements for the house?"

"Not really. I'd prefer something a bit secluded. If I'm training, I don't want to disturb others. A clean, tidy house will do."

Mira's eyes lit up: "I know just the place that fits your needs. Wait here."

Mira quickly asked Makarov for leave, explaining she wanted to help Kevin find a house. Makarov agreed immediately. Buying a house was a big life decision, and Kevin purchasing one here meant he was settling down.

Mira returned to Kevin: "All set, let's go."

Mira led Kevin along the river.

"Near my place, there's a middle-aged couple. The husband was recently transferred to Onibas for a civil service job, and they're moving there. They're selling their house here. When you mentioned your requirements, they were the first people I thought of."

A boat passed by on the river. The boatman noticed Mira and Kevin walking and teased, "Oh, oh! Are the young lovers on a date?"

Mira blushed slightly: "Of course not!"

"Don't be shy! Young folks should enjoy romance while they're young, or it'll be too late when they're older!"

The boatman drifted downstream with a chuckle.

"Kevin, don't listen to him."

Kevin laughed: "I know! He's just joking! But your eagerness to clarify is a little hurtful."

"Ah! I didn't mean it that way!"

"Alright, I'm teasing. I was joking too."

Kevin liked Mira, but it wasn't love at first sight; it was a simple liking, partly because he'd seen her in the anime.

Strictly speaking, they'd only met twice, including today.

Mira pouted playfully: "Mmm~~! Mr. Kevin is really mean."

Afterward, they both laughed. Despite knowing each other briefly, being around Kevin felt comfortable and natural.

Soon, they arrived at the house.

In front of it, a carriage was loaded with luggage.

"Mr. Santos! Ms. Bella! Are you leaving so soon?"

Mira approached them.

"Oh, it's Miss Mira! Yes, everything is ready over there, so it's time to leave."

Ms. Bella smiled warmly at Mira. She'd watched Mira grow from a little girl into a graceful young woman.

"And this is... your boyfriend? Little Mira has grown up too."

Mira's cheeks flushed: "No, he's a colleague from my Guild."

"Oh? So it's a Guild romance?"

"No, he's just a colleague."

"I haven't seen little Mira date any male colleagues all these years."

"Ms. Bella~~!"

"Hahaha~! Just kidding. If I don't tease little Mira now, I won't get the chance later."

"By the way, Ms. Bella, what will you do with this house after you leave? Has it been sold yet?"

Ms. Bella shook her head: "Not yet, but there's no time to deal with it slowly. I plan to entrust it to a real estate agency."

"Perfect! My colleague here is looking for a house, and I recommended yours. May we take a look?"

"Of course! Please do!"

Mira showed Kevin around. The house was neither too big nor too small, with two floors. Both the house and the courtyard were well-maintained and clean, ready for move-in with minimal purchases. The surrounding environment was beautiful, and as a detached house, there was no worry of disturbing neighbors. Kevin was satisfied.

Thanks to Mira's bargaining, the Bella couple, who originally wanted 4 million J, sold it to Kevin for 3 million J, impressing Kevin with Mira's negotiation skills.

"And you said you weren't a couple; you're already saving him money."

"No~!"

"Alright, I should go. Young man, little Mira is a good girl whom I've watched grow up. Take good care of her!"

"Ms. Bella~~!"

Kevin promised earnestly, "Don't worry, Ms. Bella, I will."

Ms. Bella, amused, patted Kevin's shoulder: "Young man, you're quite something!"

"Kevin~~~!"

Though she knew they were teasing, Mira felt shy.

The carriage slowly departed. Mira and Ms. Bella bade farewell, knowing it might be permanent.

"Kevin, you should settle in. I'm heading back to the Guild."

"Wait, you've helped me so much, let me treat you to a meal."

"No! If others see us, who knows what they'll say."

Having lived in Magnolia Town for years, Mira was known by nearly everyone, and she'd already been teased several times.

"Uh..."

"Hehe! Just kidding. There's work to do at the Guild, so maybe another time. I'm leaving now."

Mira turned to head back.

Kevin remembered something: "Wait a minute! Mira!"

"Hmm? Is there anything else?"

"I almost forgot something important. Mira, could you wish me good luck like last time?"

"???"

Mira was puzzled but smiled sweetly: "Mr. Kevin, I wish you good luck today too!"

**Ding! Obtained the Goddess's Blessing! Luck +100 points!**

As he watched Mira leave, Kevin heard a system prompt in his mind.

Once she was gone, Kevin opened the system interface.

"**Perform a ten-pull?**"

"Confirm!"

The panel screen flashed with starlight, converging in the starry sky.

Kevin silently prayed: "Gold! Gold! Gold!"

A dazzling golden light appeared.

Kevin was thrilled: "It's really gold!!"
