A surging pain ripped through his body, making him gasp as he struggled to his feet. His eyes snapped open, and bright sunlight shimmered through, nearly blinding him.
"Damn… that's too bright…"
He looked around, only for a sharp pain in his forehead to make him grimace. He raised a hand to it, then froze when he felt something warm and ticklish sliding down his face.
Alarmed, he looked at his hands.
His face turned deathly pale.
This pain—this headache—it shouldn't be possible.
This was supposed to be a fake reality. None of this was real. He shouldn't be feeling anything at all, so why did everything hurt?
He staggered forward, disoriented, but suddenly—nothing.
No light. No sound.
Just darkness.
"Wait… how?" Travis muttered. "There was light just minutes ago. Who turned off the switch…?"
No answer came, only his own voice echoing back at him, as if he were trapped inside a hollow void where nothing else existed.
