In the air, the fight took a dangerous turn. Kai had miraculously taken over, now on top of Vaelis, giving him a choking bite that nearly threw his neck from his body.
A deafening scream echoed from Vaelis's mouth.
The other salamanders, seeing their master in such a state, changed strategy under their new commander, who was dressed in a chaotic manner. Wearing different patches of red and holding a staff, she was their priestess, sent to redeem the situation.
"Kill the other one!" They pointed at Travis, and half of the thousands rushed toward him, while the others threw both spears and arrows at Kai. He dodged them all, but he couldn't keep going in circles.
Vaelis, now badly injured and angered, gave him a hot chase. Unfortunately, Kai couldn't maneuver faster when he got cornered by Vaelis. Not only that, he got pierced by a spear, which made him shudder and yell in pain—a scream that tore Travis's heart into a million pieces as he echoed it.
