Aliana sat on the bed, fresh out of the shower, her hair still damp against the loose shirt she'd changed into. The diary lay open in her lap. She flipped through the pages slowly, thumbing her way to the very end where the new entries always appeared.
Nothing.
The last page was blank.
She stared at it for a long moment, her brows slowly drawing together. Every day, something showed up so why not for the past two days? A quiet worry crawled into her chest as she sat there, the empty page staring back at her. Aliana out of frustration got on her feet and started to pace around in the room when suddenly out of the blue the remenanets of the viosn she had at the hospital flashed before her eyes.
She remembered the headlights. The rain. The crushing weight on her chest. The smell of metal burning. The red car's twisted front. The number plate shining through the smoke:
