Chapter 60 - The surprise

Luca's POV

I've been feeling strange for weeks.

Tired constantly. Nauseous in mornings. Emotional over everything.

"You okay?" Rian asks, concerned. "You've been off lately."

"Just stressed. The school, pack duties, everything." I force a smile. "I'm fine."

But I'm not fine.

Sara corners me after a Luna meeting. "You're pregnant."

"What? No. I'm male. Human. That's impossible."

"You're a magic-user bonded to an Alpha. Magic makes things possible." She studies me. "Have you taken a test?"

"There's a test for male pregnancy?"

"Werewolf pharmacies have everything. Come on."

She drags me to the pack doctor. One test later, my world shifts.

"Positive," the doctor confirms. "About two months along. Congratulations, Luna."

I'm pregnant. Carrying Rian's child. How is this possible?

"Your magic adapted your body to accept the Alpha's seed," the doctor explains. "Rare but not unheard of with powerful magic-users."

I'm in shock. Terrified. Overwhelmed.

How do I tell Rian?

That evening, he finds me in the studio, staring at the test.

"Luca?" He's beside me instantly. "What's wrong? What is that?"

I hand him the test silently.

He stares at it, confused. Then understanding dawns. "This is... you're..."

"Pregnant. Apparently magic made it possible." My voice shakes. "Are you angry?"

"Angry? I'm—" He pulls me into his arms, trembling. "I'm fucking ecstatic. We're having a baby?"

"We're having a baby." Tears stream down my face. "I'm terrified."

"Me too." He holds me tighter. "But we'll figure it out. Together."

"What if I'm a terrible parent?"

"Impossible. You're amazing with kids." He pulls back, cupping my face. "You're carrying our child, Luca. Our baby. That's—" His voice breaks. "That's everything."

He kisses me desperately, joyfully, lovingly.

That night, he's extra gentle. His hands worship my still-flat stomach reverently.

"Our baby is in there," he murmurs with wonder. "Part me, part you. Perfect."

"You're not freaked out?"

"I'm terrified. But also thrilled." He kisses my stomach. "Hi, baby. I'm your dad. Can't wait to meet you."

Emotion overwhelms me. This is real. We're having a child.

We make love slowly, carefully, Rian treating me like precious glass.

"Not going to break," I laugh.

"You're carrying our child. I'll be careful." He moves gently. "Love you both so much already."

Later, wrapped together, his hand rests protectively on my stomach.

"Boy or girl?" he asks.

"Too early to know. Does it matter?"

"Not at all. As long as they're healthy and have your eyes." He kisses my shoulder. "Thank you."

"For what?"

"For this. For our baby. For our family." His voice is thick with emotion. "For being mine."

"Always yours." I lace our fingers together over my stomach. "Forever."

"Forever," he agrees. "All three of us."
