Cut from Chapter 57 (Second Pregnancy) - Too Controversial
Why it was deleted: This was too heavy and controversial for the story's tone. While it showed realistic complexity, it didn't fit the overall romance narrative. Replaced with simpler pregnancy acceptance.
Luca's POV
"Pregnant again," I stare at the test. "I'm pregnant again."
Kai is barely eighteen months old. We just got our rhythm. And now—
Another baby.
I sit on the bathroom floor, overwhelmed.
The door opens. Rian. "Luca? I felt your distress through the bond—" He sees the test. "Oh. Oh."
"I can't do this again," I whisper. "Not yet. I'm barely surviving with one toddler. Two under two? I can't—"
"Hey." He sits beside me. "Breathe. We'll figure this out."
"What if I don't want to figure it out?" The words escape before I can stop them. "What if I don't want to be pregnant again? Not now?"
Understanding dawns in his eyes. "You mean—"
"I don't know what I mean." I'm crying now. "I love Kai. I do. But pregnancy was hard. Birth was excruciating. And now I have to do it all again before I've even recovered?"
"You don't have to do anything you don't want to do." His voice is careful. "It's your body, Luca. Your choice."
"Is it? Or will the bond, the pack, everyone expect me to—"
"I don't care what anyone expects." He grips my hands. "This is YOUR choice. Only yours. If you want to terminate, we terminate. If you want to continue, we continue. But it's YOUR decision."
"You wouldn't be angry? Disappointed?"
"I'd support you. Whatever you choose." He pulls me close. "I love you. That means respecting your autonomy. Always."
I cry against his shoulder. "I don't know what I want."
"Then take time. Decide. I'm here either way."
Two Weeks Later
I've thought about it constantly. Rian's been patient, never pushing.
"I want to keep it," I finally say. "I'm terrified. Overwhelmed. But I want this baby."
"You're sure? No pressure?"
"I'm sure. It's going to be hard. But—" I place his hand on my still-flat stomach. "This is our baby. Our family growing. I want it."
His relief is palpable. "Okay. Then we do this. Together. And I'll help more this time. Hire help. Whatever you need."
Okay..
[This scene was cut because it was too heavy and potentially divisive. It was replaced with Luca being immediately accepting of the pregnancy, with concerns about managing two kids but never doubting he wanted the baby. The complexity of reproductive choice was removed to keep the story lighter.]
