Chapter 9 - finally, the super soldier project

No more than two years had passed since the protagonist began living in the White House when, thanks to one of his spies, he discovered that the official events of Captain America were about to begin.

And yes, spies, the protagonist is officially at "Sequence 4" of the "Visionary Pathway". This is because his avatar takes his desire for the world to "see reality once again" very seriously. He's currently "Sequence 5" the avatar himself.

And yes, only that avatar. The others are all far too busy dealing with their own problems.

The avatar of the "Mother Pathway", after realizing the true state of her continent, decided to fully dedicate herself to ruling her lands and religion. Because of that, she barely has time to focus on understanding her Pathway. She's currently at "Sequence 6".

The "Moon Pathway" avatar became obsessed with the mystic side of the world, so much that, if not for the protagonist's influence, she probably wouldn't be studying her Pathway at all. Her faction is one of the most powerful ones, mostly because she's been serious about controlling it from the start. She's currently "Sequence 7"

The avatars of "Death" and "Darkness" actually got married, inviting the remaining population of their planet to their wedding. It's fair to say that they've become the emperors of their own world. They didn't funded a cult per se, but the population naturally imitates their customs, which made death and darkness revered concepts on their planet.

If the Dark Elves were awake, they'd be thrilled with that world, they'd probably join its population and even worship its rulers. The planet is so dark thanks to those two that the galaxy itself mistakes it for a black hole.

"Death" is "Sequence 7", and "Darkness" is "Sequence 6".

Meanwhile, the "Twilight Giant avatar" spent a long time teaching the way of the knights to his planet. He recently advanced to "Sequence 8".

The "Tyrant Pathway avatar" conquered his world much faster, allowing him to reach "Sequence 7" sooner.

As for the "Sun Pathway avatar"… he literally started a Holy War, a Fuking. Holy. War.

Upon reaching Sequence 7, he declared a Holy War against Catholicism itself, which, unsurprisingly, made the world even more chaotic. The worst part? He actually won, and with honors. Catholicism is no longer the main religion of the world; instead, it has been replaced by "The Church of the Eternally Glorious, Absolutely Beautiful, and Completely Perfect Sun, PRAISE THE SUN!"

It's painfully obvious that he's terrible at naming things, and even worse at leading faith. All he wants is to worship the sun everywhere, All. The. Fuking. Time.

The avatar of the "White Tower Pathway" officially joined Kamar-Taj. This, in hindsight, might have been the protagonist's fault for her progress not being fast enough. She's still trying to perfect a portal spell that works by thought alone, allowing her to travel freely across the multiverse. She's currently "Sequence 7."

And finally… the most troublesome one: the avatar of the "Hanged Man Pathway."

Let's just say that the only people who don't want him dead are those at Kamar-Taj, and even the Sorcerer Supreme is starting to reconsider that.

Yeah, it's that bad. His followers became obsessed with the idea that "the universe must be sacrificed, not our lord." They declared war on every intelligent species close to or above human-level intelligence.

Nazis wants them dead, every nation wants them dead, Wakanda wants them dead, the other avatars wants them dead, secret organizations wants them dead, mystic organizations wanted them dead, hell, even Asgard wants them dead, and they don't even know why.

By sheer luck, no one knows who the avatar actually is. Otherwise, he never would've made it to "Sequence 6."

Now that we've covered the current situation of everyone more or less, let's return to our protagonist.

Right now, he's in the middle of brainwashing the same group of people for the fifth time when he receives a secret report from one of his agents.

"Are you sure about this? Are they really finishing the Super Soldier Serum?"

He asks, doubting his spy's words as usual. Despite being at such a high Sequence, he still doubts everyone.

"Yes, master. They're already looking for suitable candidates for the trials. Should we kill them all, like we did with Hydra's spies?"

The spy asks with fanatic devotion.

"No need. Let them continue. You could say I'm the one who wants them to succeed the most."

He replies indifferently, though secretly, he's pleased. After all, this means he can finally begin the second phase of his plan to conquer the universe.

"As you command, master!"

The spy leaves, still wearing that fanatical expression.

"Hmm… I wonder, what kind of story would be best to use for brainwashing the First Avenger?"

The protagonist muses, smirking mischievously.

★ "How about making him experience the story of Berserk… but even more tragic?"

The System replies. The protagonist stays silent for a moment before grinning proudly.

"You're diabolical. I like it"

★ "I learned from the best."

The System answers with the same sly smile the protagonist gives it.

"Anyway, time to summon a new Pathway. This time, let's bring in the one that'll be a true nightmare for everyone."

★ "The "Father of Devils Pathway" or the Mother "Tree of Desire"?"

"The "Mother Tree of Desire". And this time, I plan to do things right. No more failures like before."

★ "You know, you could just rewrite their stories or force them to obey, right?"

"I could… but I won't. I don't want them to know I exist, not until this universe belongs to me."

The System sighs.

★ "I still don't get why you're so scared when you know they can't hurt you. Honestly, you could call yourself God, and people would believe it without question."

"Tell me that again when Lady Death stops spying on me."

Yes, the protagonist had recently developed the ability to sense cosmic entities watching him, thanks to his elevated spirituality. He can't see them yet, but he can feel them.

Imagine his shock when he realized that Death herself had been watching him all this time. It triggered a level of paranoia he'd never felt before, after all, in his mind, feeling Death's presence means standing at the threshold of death itself.

That's his belief. The truth, however, is that Death has actually fallen in love with him, just as deeply as she did with Deadpool in the Marvel comics.

Her plan? Once the protagonist dies (she believes it'll be while trying to overthrow his country's government since she thinks that's why he has so many spies), she intends to:

Heal him, since she still believes he's insane, and later train him to become a cosmic entity so they can be together as equals.

Frankly, even I can't understand what Death has with crazy people, but hey, my job is just being the General pov

Now that we've covered how things stand, let's get back to the main story.

Months pass, and events more or less continue their original course, at least, as much as possible. Despite all the drastic changes in the world, destiny hasn't shifted in the slightest.

Hydra, on their end, is struggling to understand how all their spies either betray them or die in massive numbers every time they infiltrate vital U.S. zones.

The only place they still have active spies is in the army barracks, where, coincidentally, a young man named Steve Rogers is trying to enlist, giving the most basic motivational speech imaginable… but with such sincerity that it moves someone deeply.

That someone, of course, is Abraham Erskine, who decides to watch the young man in secret.

This, in turn, draws the attention of a Hydra spy, who reports it to his superiors.

Meanwhile, a third spy notices the Hydra spy and reports him to his own leader.

That action catches the attention of a fourth spy, who reports it to his cult leader (oh come on, really?).

Then, an African spy notices that and contacts his intelligence service (seriously, how many spies are there?!).

That action alerts a fifth spy, one with the form of a bat, who immediately flies off to report to his master (okay, that's a lot now, I don't plan to write them all).

And this chain reaction goes on and on, until practically every secret and mystic organization worth its name is aware of this ridiculous scene, especially the protagonist, who, after finally discovering who Steve Rogers is, decides to pay him a surprise visit… in his dreams.

(Translator's note: Seriously, that's way too many spies, this is turning into Kingsman! 🤣)
