Chapter 12: A Foreign Guest

Yurian awoke from a deep sleep, alone in her room. The events of the previous day felt like a dream; the room was perfectly quiet, and only the sound of birds came through the window. She got up and headed to the bathroom. Having not properly washed after what happened yesterday, Yurian turned on the shower and reflected on her dreadful state from the day before.

To have shown herself like that in front of Blair again... What would the other palace people think, seeing Yurian moaning as she rode the horse? The journey was so long that it was hard to believe she hadn't encountered anyone, and even if the wooden pillar inside her wasn't visible, those moans weren't just from fear of riding.

Yurian stood under the hot water for a while. Everything in her life felt like it was falling apart. Should she just say she wanted to leave the palace? But now that she was here, there was something she wanted to know: how her mother, who had no ties to the palace, met the emperor and why she hid Yurian's birth from her.

"Haa..."

After warming herself in the water and washing, Yurian put on a bathrobe and stepped out. She dried off, picked out new clothes, and looked at her reflection in the mirror. She thought she could now understand why her mother hid her birth. She'd barely been in the palace, yet had already been through so much with her siblings, unable to resist and toyed with daily according to their whims. Of course, her life was more comfortable than before—her cracked fingertips had healed, and she no longer had to do menial chores—but was it really okay to keep living like this?

Yurian had no answer for herself.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Princess Yurian? Are you awake?"

A maid entered, breaking the silence. As always, Yurian felt uneasy seeing the maid's unhappy expression. What was it today?

"A foreign envoy has arrived at the palace. His Majesty the Emperor has ordered you to come greet the guest together."

"Yes, I understand."

The maid frowned at the clothes Yurian had chosen, then took out a new dress from the wardrobe. She tightened the corset so much that Yurian's chest bulged over the top, her already thin waist looked even slimmer, and the contrast was striking. Her abundant hair was brushed up and tied high, and Yurian's beautiful appearance was reflected in the full-length mirror.

"Now, please hurry down. The others are already waiting below," said the maid after finishing Yurian's preparations.

Yurian walked through the corridor and down the stairs into the large hall on the first floor. The hall, with a ceiling two or three times higher than normal, had the emperor seated at the highest place, the empress beside him, and their sons and daughters already lined up in fine clothes. Palace, the most extravagantly dressed, looked every bit the dignified princess, as if her behavior yesterday had been a lie.

"Yurian, you're here now?" Second prince Camil whispered, bringing Yurian to his side. Henry and Palace, who had been talking nearby, smiled when they saw her.

"Yurian, sorry about yesterday. I was really busy cleaning the room. But you did a great job with the errand—Blair said he got the item just fine," Henry said as soon as he saw her. Did he know what happened to her after delivering that item to Blair?

Yurian just smiled back and said nothing. Blair, standing closest to the emperor, was silent as always, cold and quiet. No one would believe what he'd done to Yurian the previous day.

"Oh, Henry, Yurian's mad," Palace said, noticing Yurian's lack of response. David stood behind her, still expressionless and silent.

"Yurian, are you mad?"

"What happened? What happened yesterday?"

"Quiet."

At Blair's word, the chattering siblings fell silent. Yurian stood at the side of the long red carpet in the center, wishing the event would end quickly. Perhaps because it was an important occasion to greet an envoy from another country, even the emperor, who usually looked at Yurian with lecherous eyes, was dressed properly, sitting on his golden throne.

"Sir Sebastian of the Gerard Kingdom."

With the Gerard Kingdom's flag at the front, an envoy with a sword at his waist walked in along the red carpet. The envoy, with yellow hair and an exotic appearance, looked about Yurian's age.

"Thank you for coming such a long way, Sir Sebastian."

"It's nothing, Your Majesty."

"How long do you plan to stay this time?"

"I think I'll be here about a week."

The Gerard Kingdom and the Edlen Empire were known to have friendly relations both externally and internally. That rumor must not have been a lie, Yurian thought. For commoners scraping by outside the palace, as long as there was no war, the relationship between the two countries didn't matter much.

"But Your Majesty, you seem to have gained another child since I last visited. I recall there were five last time."

Sebastian's gaze landed on Yurian—specifically, on her ample chest.

"Ah, you mean Yurian? I've ended up with another hidden daughter," the emperor replied. Sebastian laughed heartily, not seeming surprised at all, perhaps because this wasn't the first time.

"I see. If you have time, I'd like to share a meal or tea with you."

"Trying to woo my daughter as soon as you arrive, Sir Sebastian? Well, I can't treat a precious guest who's come a long way carelessly. We'll have a grand banquet this evening—enjoy yourself."

Sebastian knelt on one knee before the emperor. After presenting gifts from the Gerard Kingdom, he was shown to the guest quarters, saying he would return for the evening banquet. Yurian, stiff from standing nervously through her first such event, felt her shoulders ache. When the reception ended, she turned to head back to her room.

"Yurian, you shouldn't get too close to Sebastian. He may seem nice, but he's dangerous," Palace warned. Even Henry, who was never serious, listened quietly.

"What kind of person is Sebastian?"

"He's just a madman."

Blair, who rarely spoke, cut in. If someone as crazy as Blair called Sebastian a madman, just how strange was he? Yurian couldn't understand why all her siblings reacted so negatively.

After the siblings dispersed to their rooms, Yurian slowly left the hall and walked down the corridor. The corridor, lined with huge pillars and a ceiling as high as the great hall, felt grand.

"Yurian, was it?"

"Ah!"

Yurian was startled as Sebastian suddenly appeared from behind a pillar. With sharp eyes, he stood in front of her.

"Sorry for startling you."

"No, it's fine."

The corridor was already empty of people.

'Who is this man? Is he really as dangerous as Palace said?'

But after all she'd been through with her siblings, Yurian didn't find the man before her as frightening as she'd expected. Still, the sword at his waist brought back bad memories, and her expression hardened.

"Yurian, won't you have tea with me?"

"Ah… I… I have something to do…"

Remembering her siblings' warnings, Yurian made an excuse and turned away.

"Why?"

Thud—Sebastian quickly grabbed Yurian's wrist and pressed her against a pillar. His face came so close she could feel his breath, and Yurian turned her head away. Sebastian pressed his body against hers, feeling her ample chest.

"I think it would be fun for us to play together. I've never seen breasts this big before."

Swoosh—Sebastian's hand slipped inside Yurian's tight clothes. Already tight, her clothes tore with a rip as his hand groped her breasts.

"Haa… let's not do this here. Let's go inside."

Sebastian's tongue entered Yurian's mouth. Pinned against the pillar, blocked by his large body, Yurian could only receive his kiss.
