Sebastian stood outside Chai's apartment door, suddenly nervous.
He knocked.and the door opened after the third knock.
Chai stood there in oversized sweatpants and a t-shirt, Her face was makeup-free, hair messy.
She'd never looked more beautiful to him.
"Sebastian!" she breathed. Then she launched herself at him, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Sebastian caught her, holding tight. "Hey. I'm okay. I'm here."
"I saw the news," Chai said, her voice muffled against his shoulder. "The shooting at the competition. They said someone opened fire in the parking structure. I didn't know if you were hurt, if Emily was hurt. If…."
"We're fine," Sebastian interrupted gently.
"Everyone's safe. I promise."
Chai pulled back to look at his face, her hands framing his jaw.
"You're really okay?"
"Really okay."
She hit his chest, not hard but frustrated. "You didn't call! I've been terrified for hours!"
"I know. I'm sorry. Everything was chaos getting Emily to safety. I couldn't"
