Cloud City University - Monday Morning - 8:45 AM
Emily stood outside the economics building with Ming Li, who was practically vibrating with excitement.
"Sister Emily! My first day at university! I'm going to learn so much! I'm going to be the best student ever! Well, second best. You're the best. But I'll be second!" Ming Li adjusted her backpack which Emily knew contained at least three concealed weapons despite repeatedly telling her that was excessive.
"Li," Emily said patiently, "remember what we discussed. You're auditing classes to blend in, not to actually...."
"Actually what?" Ming Li interrupted eagerly. "Actually learn? Because I want to learn! Knowledge is power! And Sister Emily, if I'm going to protect you properly, I should understand what you're studying! What if there's a threat hidden in economic theory? What if someone weaponizes supply and demand?"
Emily blinked. "That's... not really how economics works."
