Chapter 6 - Anvil of fate

"As she clutched her wounded chest, the mooks spotted her and gave chase. With a fierce determination, she unsheathed her sword, taking down anyone who dared to get close. Exhausted but relentless, she finally stumbled upon a hiding spot, momentarily escaping the merciless horde."

"As she leaned against the wall, she whispered to herself, 'I won't die like this.' Determined to survive, she set out to find a new host body. Her search led her to Daeho Street's bustling cooking stalls, where young women were busy preparing food for the day's customers. Suddenly, chaos erupted as everyone scrambled to flee. 'Oh my goodness!' a woman shrieked. But one figure stood firm, her feet rooted to the ground. With a fierce intent, she raised her hands, and a swirling mist of magical energy erupted from her palms, accompanied by a small, glowing stone. Her eyes narrowed, and a sly smile spread across her face, as if she was about to claim her heart's desire .

"She quickly switched her soul with another girl, and her original body dropped dead on the floor."

Park Jin arrived with his entourage of rough-looking mooks, their presence commanding attention. His sharp eyes scanned the scene, taking in every details.

Park Jin's eyes narrowed as he gazed at the lifeless body on the floor. "She's not dead," he said, his voice low and calculated. "She's just... relocated." He gently opened the robe, revealing the distinctive blue mark on the chest – a telltale sign of a soul shift.

The mooks looked at each other, confused. "But, sir, the body...?" one of them trailed off.

Park Jin's gaze swept the room, his eyes locking onto each of the fleeing crowd. "She's still here," he muttered to himself. "I need to find out who she's possessing now.

Park Jin's gaze locked onto a young girl, and as their eyes met, she gasped, suddenly desperate to flee. But Park Jin was too quick, grasping her hand firmly. "Check her," he ordered, his voice low and commanding. A mook stepped forward, hesitating briefly before inspecting the girl's chest. "There's no blue mark," he reported. With a nod, Park Jin released the girl, who seized the opportunity to break free and sprint away.

Park Jin's footsteps slowed as he approached Hu-won's still form. The blue mark on her body seemed to whisper secrets, its presence both fascinating and unsettling. He knelt beside her, his fingers tracing the symbol as if seeking answers. With a gentle touch, he gathered her body and sword, his eyes clouding with the weight of unspoken questions. The journey back to Songrim would be long, but one thing was certain: uncovering the truth behind her still body without her soul intact is certainty ...
