There were more than seven major noble families and seven minor noble families in the world, with the Pendragon family being one of the latter.
Aside from that, in this game-like world with all sorts of classes and physiques, most families struggled to remain in control of dungeons.
With dungeons, they could obtain gold coins from frequently clearing them, along with loots, resources, and more.
As a minor noble family, the Pendragon family was in possession of a few dungeons, including twenty F-rank dungeons, ten E-rank dungeons, five D-rank dungeons, and a single C-rank dungeon.
Major families held more control over dungeons, including having control over B-rank dungeons.
Meanwhile, A-rank dungeons were held by the Federation and Players Union.
As for S-rank dungeons… who could control those?
As many thoughts passed through Arthur's mind, he finally arrived at a shimmering blue portal.
It was unlike the one from before, and from this portal, one could see faint traces of liquid on the ground.
Arthur turned to glance at the golden knight, "Titan, are you ready?"
The golden knight didn't speak; however, he unsheathed his sword, and a fierce fighting intent burned in its eyes.
Arthur took this as a cue that the dragon knight was ready and stepped in without any further delay.
Titan followed behind him, and they soon appeared at a unique place…
A wave of blinding blue light engulfed Arthur, and the next moment he found himself in what seemed to be a world of water.
Below them was a shallow river that reached up to his knees, and high above in the sky was a pale blue luminescent sun casting its chilling glow onto the surroundings.
There were sparse trees which grew out of different places in the water, and the air had a damp smell to it, almost seeming as though rain had just fallen.
Arthur glanced around and spotted a few creatures that looked like humanoid monsters, a mixture of fish and humans.
He frowned slightly, glancing up at Titan. 'I hope the knight wouldn't be affected by the terrain of this battle,'
Seeing that Titan seemed unbothered, glancing at his surroundings with visible killing intent, Arthur relaxed.
Screech!
A piercing scream resounded into the air, drawing Arthur's attention.
He could see a blurry shadow underwater rushing towards him.
Arthur grinned slightly and retrieved a sword hung beside his waist.
Not only did he want to improve Titan's fighting capabilities, but he also wanted to improve his talent in fighting.
And if his guess wasn't wrong, then Titan could constantly share half of its stats with him.
In essence, as Titan grew, his strength too would increase drastically.
The dragon knight let out a dragon-like roar, causing the shadow in the water to freeze in its tracks. Then, Titan brandished his sword during that moment of confusion.
Fire surfaced at the tip of his blade as the water erupted violently into the surroundings, creating a shockwave that blasted outwards.
Arthur dodged to the side, escaping the shockwave that splashed, drenching his clothes.
Water dripped down his bald head as he let out a curse.
"Fuck, Titan. Try to control it, will you…"
Immediately after he finished speaking, he sensed something beside him, and he immediately swung his sword in the right direction.
A creature with the head of a fish and the body of a scaly-legged animal clashed with his blade, creating a burst of sparks.
Arthur paused slightly in his movements, feeling the scaly skin was hard against his blade.
Then, he swung his sword once more, his attack cleaving through the fishy creature through its neck.
Blue blood sprayed outwards into the water, and some spilled onto Arthur, who couldn't help but curse out once more.
[Killed Merman. Loot dropped.]
Arthur stared briefly at the notification that were now golden words—unlike before—and he could also hear the seductive feminine voice in his mind. He moved his mind away from the system.
Glancing around, he spotted Titan.
The mountain of a beast had already decimated more than ten mermen, his golden sword dripping with blue blood.
His golden knight armor was without a stain as he cleaved through the mermen.
The mermen screeched in fear as Titan continued his onslaught on them.
Lightning crackled like a thunderstorm around him as the water where a few mermen were approaching from burst out violently.
'I need to do better,' Arthur decided internally, and spotted another merman through the corner of his eyes.
Moving smoothly towards it, his sword immediately cleaved through the creature, clashing roughly with its tough exterior.
This time, Arthur didn't pause, already having spotted its weakness.
His sword moved at lightning speed and collided with the neck of the merman.
The system flashed briefly with a line of golden words.
[Killed Merman. Loot dropped.]
Just as Arthur was about to look for a new target, the system flashed once more with golden light.
[Congratulations, your Calamity has leveled up!]
[Stats boosted by 20 percent!]
Arthur felt a mysterious energy wash over him as his physical strength increased slightly, along with his defense and endurance.
His grip on his sword tightened further, and his joy was hard to suppress.
'It's just as I guessed. Although I am stuck at level one pretty much eternally, by receiving endless stats from my Calamities, I can still become overpowered!'
Arthur laughed and swung his sword towards an approaching merman.
This time, his sword didn't meet much resistance, creating a deep gash on the arm of the merman.
The sword in his hand shot forward, piercing through the merman and killing it instantly.
[Merman killed. Loot dropped.]
'So fast?' Arthur appreciated the increase in his strength internally.
'As my strength increases, I just have to keep on killing more dungeon creatures. Who knows, sooner or later I will be able to get another Celestial Stone and summon a new Calamity.'
The thought alone made Arthur increase his efficiency in killing the mermen.
Within a few minutes, he had killed more than five mermen.
As though they were sensing the commotion, the mermen too were piling up, swiftly numbering up to fifty.
Soon, Arthur and Titan had completely dealt with the dungeon.
The system lit up with a line of words which materialized in front of him.
[Dungeon cleared. Please check the loot and retrieve the dungeon clear rewards.]
