"I can't believe the teacher was sick today," said Kimuki.
"I know, right? It's been a while since we had a free classroom," said Gintama.
"So, what should we do?" said Minatsu.
Taneki looked toward the girls. "The girls over there... they're playing some kind of game. Should we join for fun?"
"I'm down," Gintama said.
Minatsu and Kimuki both agreed as well.
The boys walked up to the girls.
"What are y'all playing?" Gintama asked.
A popular, nice girl named Khohaku replied, "We're playing truth or dare. Come, come join us the more, the better."
The boys and I were close to Khohaku and her friends in class. The boys like her. They still think she's annoying, but they don't mind her. I do.
"Okay, since you guys joined, let's start with you," said Khohaku. "Truth or dare, Gintama?"
"I'll say truth," Gintama replied.
Khohaku thought for a moment. "Mmm… why do you bully others?"
Gintama laughed. "I have never bullied anyone in my life."
Karumi laughed sarcastically. "Yeah, there's no way you would bully anyone."
"Mind your business," Gintama shot back.
"Okay, so now it's your turn. You can ask truth or dare to anyone you want," Khohaku said.
"Okay, let's see… how about back to you, Khohaku? Truth or dare?" Gintama asked.
"Truth," she said.
"You are a jolly person, and you're loud. I'm wondering what kind of guys do you like? What's your ideal type?" Gintama asked.
Khohaku smiled. "Well, if I had to say… I like someone tall, with long hair, strong. I want them to be healthy, so working out is a nice plus as well."
"You basically described Kimuki, by the way," Gintama teased.
"Cut it out, Gintama it's not funny," Kimuki said, embarrassed.
"I guess if you look at it that way, you could say Kimuki is my type," Khohaku said.
"Whatever. Continue," Kimuki replied.
Khohaku turned to him. "It's my turn again. How about you, Kimuki? Truth or dare?"
"Truth," Kimuki said.
"Who is the girl that you're closest to in our class?"
What kind of question is that? Kimuki thought. It's obviously Karumi, but if I say that, it would make me look bad in front of my friends, but she will get mad if i don't say her what's should i do...
"If I had to say, I would say you, Khohaku," Kimuki replied.
"Wow, really? I honestly thought you'd say Karumi," she said.
"Yeah, no way," Taneki said.
"How could you even think of that? Please," Gintama laughed.
"Okay, okay, it's my turn now," said Kimuki. "How about you, Tsikamari? Truth or dare?"
"Truth," said Tsikamari.
"Do you think that guys and girls can be friends without one of them developing some kind of feelings for the other?" Kimuki asked.
"What kind of dumbass question is that? Of course they can be friends," Karumi replied.
Tsikamari said, "Actually, I have experience in that situation. I had a friend, and if you had asked me back then, I would have sworn that I had no feelings for him and he had none for me. But one day, he confessed. With that in mind, I still think it's possible, but rarely."
"Don't get influenced, guys. Of course it's possible," Karumi said.
Kimuki said, "You just heard about her experience. She's speaking through her experience. It might not have happened to you yet, but that doesn't mean it won't."
Karumi said, "If I'm friends with a guy, that means we both agreed to be friends and nothing else."
"So you really think if someone has a boyfriend or girlfriend, they didn't start out as friends?" Kimuki asked.
"I'm not saying that," Karumi replied.
"Then please tell me what you meant. Or wait don't tell me. You think when people start becoming friends, they say to each other, 'Let's be friends and never be in a relationship'?"
"If a guy and a girl agree to be friends, that means there are boundaries," Karumi said.
"What happened to the Tsikamaris and his friend's boundaries? Do explain, please," Kimuki asked.
"That's the guy's fault," Karumi said.
"So if I tell you that in the past a girl who was a friend confessed her love to me, what would you say?" Kimuki asked.
"There's no way someone confessed love to someone like you, so I wouldn't believe you," Karumi said.
"That's a double standard, and you just proved my point. Thank you very much," Kimuki replied.
"Why am I even arguing with a dumbass?" Karumi muttered.
"If you argued like that to a wall, even then your stupid point wouldn't make sense," Kimuki shot back.
"What about if someone is in a relationship and has guy friend, then?" Karumi asked.
Tsikamari said, "To be honest, I was in a relationship when that friend confessed to me."
"You're making yourself feel dumber and dumber, Karumi," Kimuki said.
"What if they are both in a relationship, then what?" Karumi asked.
"You just proved my point. I didn't say it doesn't exist or isn't possible .I said it's rare," Kimuki replied.
Karumi froze and went quiet she sat down and didn't say anything.
"Let's continue the game, please," Kimuki said.
"Okay," Tsikamari said quietly.
A little time passed. Both Kimuki and Karumi didn't say a word, until someone asked Kimuki a question.
"So, Kimuki, how would you using one word describe me, Tsikamaru, Tanaka, Khohaku, and Karumi?" Aburaya asked.
Kimuki said, "I would say mmm you're outgoing Aburaya. Tsikamaru is confident. Khohaku is nice. Tanaka is quiet. And Karumi is… annoying."
Suddenly, the bell rang. Karumi stood up and left the classroom.
For the rest of the day, when they were seated next to each other, neither said a word.
When Kimuki got home, he suddenly received a text. Before he could look at it, the messages were deleted. He picked up the phone again and saw who sent it it was Karumi.
Kimuki texted her, "Did you curse me out or something?"
Karumi replied, "No, it's nothing. Forget it."
"Tell me what text you deleted."
"Okay, I'll just say it," she replied.
"I can't believe that you said I was annoying, and you said Khohaku was nice, and you're closest to her. What is wrong with you? How double-faced can you be? You're so nice to me when we are alone, and when you're with your friends or classmates, you just act like you hate me."
"You're the one who started arguing with me and called me a dumbass. Don't act like you didn't act badly toward me," Kimuki texted back.
"You're gonna say that I'm bad at you because I argued about a topic I didn't agree with and called you a dumbass? Please recall how many things you have said to me in front of everyone, and now you're acting like a victim," Karumi replied.
"I told you I'm sorry about that, truly. What more do you want me to do?"
"Why are you saying sorry? Why do you care how I feel about you?" she asked.
"Because I don't want our friendship to get destroyed," he replied.
"The one thing that held our friendship together is me. Anyone other than me would just get rid of you and never talk to you again. And instead of saying thank you or something, you're blaming me about something so minor, when you literally said so many mean things to me," Karumi replied.
"I-I'm sorry, truly," Kimuki texted back.
He waited for a reply, but Karumi never responded.
