Chapter 11 - The Shopping And The Shoes

The next day, Caelith woke up early in the morning and saw two kids practicing in the garden. One with a spear and the other with a sword. Caelith noticed them but started moving towards the Emperor's office. Of course, it was Caelith's office now.

He was doing some work in the office when someone knocked on the door. "Knock! Knock!"

Caelith said, "Come in."

A kid came in. It was Zephyr. Zephyr said, "I'm sorry to disturb you, but I wanted to talk about something. Can we?"

Caelith was busy but still agreed. "Okay, take a seat."

Zephyr sat down and said, "Brother Caelith, as you know I use mana to activate my eyes and use telekinesis, but I haven't mastered it to its full extent. I've tried to master it during these years, but I couldn't."

Caelith replied, "Well, your power is amazing, but if you hurry too much, it'll cause damage for sure. A slow method is required so that it won't cause any harm in the future. So, what do you want me to do?"

Zephyr hesitated a bit but still asked, "Brother, can you teach me magic and mana methods?"

Caelith laughed and said, "Well, well, I can help you for sure, but why do you want me to help?"

Zephyr said, "Brother, it's because you're the only mage who is specialized in every type of magic, and you just confirmed that you can help me."

Caelith laughed and said, "You're really smart, nice. Okay, then I'll teach you, but not now. The Emperor asked me to be a teacher in the academy and take a special class for those who are exceptionally talented. You can attend that class since I've seen your talent. And the best part is every junior is joining the academy next year, so it'll be the perfect time for you to grow with them."

Zephyr understood and said, "Okay, Brother, I'll meet you next year at the academy." With that, Zephyr left.

Then Sylra came to Caelith's room and asked curiously, "Brother, is it true that I'm going to attend the academy next year?"

Caelith replied, "As much as I'm going to be a teacher there."

Sylra became surprised and said, "Brother, you're going to be a teacher? Really? Then I'll be your first student!"

Caelith laughed and said, "Aren't you already my student? Didn't I teach you many things?"

Sylra giggled and said, "Hehe... that's true. Can't deny that part. Well, Brother, I look forward to next year."

Sylra left the room, and Caelith started working on a document again. He was creating a few new spells while reading the history of Arcanis. He gained new enlightenment through the book.

After he finished creating spells, he went to the library to do his mana training. He was just a step away from the 7th Circle. He started refining his mana.

While everyone was enjoying themselves for a few days, Caelith finally ascended to a 7th Circle Mage. The Emperor felt a wave of mana submerging the library. They ran towards the library and saw Caelith's ascension. They congratulated him.

A few days later, everyone returned to their places, and only Sylra and Caelith remained in the castle.

Caelith was busy learning advanced magic formulas while Sylra spent all her time mastering her arts.

A few days passed. Caelith got out of his training. Sylra was sitting in the garden alone. Caelith went there. Sylra got up and smiled.

Caelith asked, "Well, the academy is starting in two months. Wanna go for shopping?"

Sylra became happy and said excitedly, "Why not, let's go!"

Caelith chuckled, and both went to the main market. They roamed through the streets and bought many things.

Caelith said, "Well, I don't need a uniform since I'll be a teacher, but you need one. And books too."

Sylra asked, "What will you be wearing, Brother?"

Caelith replied, "The robe Father gave me on my birthday. Its size can change, and it's really comfortable."

Sylra didn't say anything, just smiled. They then went to a uniform shop and bought a uniform for Sylra.

While roaming, Sylra saw a pair of shoes that were perfect for Caelith with his robe.

Sylra said, "Brother, you should buy those shoes. They will look good on you, let's go!"

Caelith noticed the shoes; they were black in color and had a golden dragon design on them. Caelith entered the store and asked the shopkeeper, "Sir, can I buy those shoes?"

The shopkeeper looked at the shoes and then replied, "We are really sorry, Sir, those aren't for sale. These shoes were passed down by our ancestors and can only be taken by the chosen one. You can try if the shoes choose you; if not, then we can't help you."

Caelith became startled. These shoes have such an amazing history. He became curious and asked, "How will the shoes choose me? What's the trial?"

The shopkeeper said politely, "Sir, you can try them. If they fit you, then they are yours."

Caelith became confused and asked, "I didn't understand. Can you explain a bit more?"

The shopkeeper said, "Yes, Sir. According to our shop's history, many came and tried these shoes, but they fitted no one. These shoes change size on their own, like they are waiting for someone, and whoever tries to force them, the shoes cast a magic spell and disable their legs."

Caelith was startled by this description. Meanwhile, someone in the shop said, "Hmph... don't spout nonsense, how can shoes disable someone?"

The shopkeeper said, "But good Sir, I'm merely telling the truth."

The person again said, "There's no magic like that. I'm the Duke Gorgan's son and know magic very well. Let me try them on."

The shopkeeper said, "Yes, of course, Sir, but this gentleman here came first and will get the first chance to try them on."

The person became enraged and said, "Hey, didn't you listen to what I said? I am the son of a DUKE." He then looked towards Caelith and said, "Hey boy, I'm trying them first."

Sylra became angry and said, "Just get out of the store! My brother will try first if you don't want to follow the rules."

The person's eyes shifted to Sylra and he said, "Look, girl, I don't care. I'll try them and take them. Don't anger me, I'm a forgiving person."

Caelith said, "Oh, then what could you even do? I'm trying them, just do whatever you want."

The person became more angry and cast a fireball and launched it towards Caelith. While the shopkeeper became scared, Sylra and Caelith were both calm.

Caelith used an anti-magic spell and deactivated the fireball. And then Caelith used wind to throw the person out of the shop.

The person spat a bit of blood from his mouth and said, "Just wait here, I'll bring my father and punish you!"

Caelith said calmly, "Oh, still haven't learned your lesson? Okay, bring your father, I'll be waiting here."

The person ran, and Caelith took those shoes and tried them. To everyone's surprise, the shoes fitted Caelith very well and felt like they were made for him. The shopkeeper was surprised and said, "Sir, may I know your name? We have fulfilled the request of our ancestors. I would like to register it in our book."

Caelith simply replied, "My name is Caelith... Caelith Ardynveil."

The shopkeeper became more surprised and got on his knees and said, "Your Majesty, we're really sorry for the lack of reception, please forgive us!"

Caelith was startled by the sudden change in behavior and said, "Hey, get up, what are you doing? You haven't done anything wrong."

The shopkeeper got up with surprised expressions and said, "Your Majesty, you're different from what the Duke described."

Caelith was surprised and asked, "And how did the Duke describe me?"

The shopkeeper said while hesitating, "Your Majesty... the Duke described you as a tyrant and an unworthy ruler."

Sylra shouted, "What nonsense is that? My brother is no tyrant and is the worthiest heir to the throne!"

The shopkeeper became terrified and said, "I'm really sorry, Princess, but that's what we were being told."

Caelith asked, "Was that Duke Gorgan?"

"Yes, Your Majesty, it was definitely Duke Gorgan," the shopkeeper replied.

Caelith then said, "Okay, I understand. Well, what about the shoes? How much?"

The shopkeeper said, "Your Majesty, the shoes aren't ours. Someone left them to our ancestors and told them to wait for the person whom the shoes fit. That person didn't describe any amount, so that's fine, you can take them."

Caelith said, "But you have cared for them throughout the generations. You must take a sum. Is 500 gold coins alright?" With that, he gave the shopkeeper a pouch.

The shopkeeper said, "Your Majesty, it's too much, we cannot accept that."

Caelith said, "You should accept them. This is for your hard work for taking care of the shoes throughout the years."

Boom! While Caelith was talking, a blast occurred.

A man flying said, "Who hurt my son? I'll roast you and feed you to the wild animals!"

Caelith stepped out from the shop and said, "It was me!"
