Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Horrible Withering Heart

On the other side, the wind by the lake grew colder.

Two men in black sent by the SPW Foundation had arrived, dressed in black trench coats, standing in the shade of trees not far from the main group.

They held binoculars, their gaze sweeping over every area from the lake to the woods.

"Mr. Jotaro, the surveillance data is expected to be organized by 6 AM tomorrow," a voice came from the phone.

Jotaro nodded, "Good, but don't just check the surveillance by the lake; check the surrounding surveillance as well."

Jotaro hung up the phone and walked over to one of the men in black, instructing, "Focus on vehicles that passed through here between 5 PM and 7 PM, especially Nissan cars."

"Mr. Jotaro, can surveillance really find him?" Koichi leaned over, his face full of worry.

Stands have such strange abilities; is surveillance really useful?

"Not necessarily, Koichi. You must understand that there is nothing absolute in this world.

Everything we do has a chance of success; the purpose is merely to increase that chance."

Jotaro's gaze fell on the intersection in the distance, his eyes calm yet filled with wisdom.

"But no matter how cautious the opponent is, he can't completely avoid all surveillance.

As long as he passed through here yesterday, he will definitely leave a side profile."

He paused, then added, "Josuke, you and Okuyasu are responsible for tomorrow morning's stakeout.

As for school, don't go for the next few days; I'll contact the school.

Koichi and I will stake out in the afternoon; don't lose track of anyone."

Josuke nodded, especially when he heard he didn't have to go to school, a hint of joy flashed in his eyes.

He and Okuyasu exchanged glances, both understanding each other's meaning.

Jotaro's words, after their translation, meant: Tomorrow, afternoon, holiday, play as you please, no school.

Carefully placing the strand of hair into a transparent bag, Higashikata Josuke shook the small bag again.

"I'll keep this hair for now; what if it comes in handy later?"

He planned to store this item with Otoishi Akira's guitar fragments, and once he found that "trace-less killing" Stand User, he would shove all these things into his body!

He would severely punish that guy who insulted other people's lives!

And although Koichi was also very nervous and scared, he showed a little happiness when he heard this.

"But Mr. Jotaro, my mother..."

"Don't worry, I'll tell her you're participating in a corporate work event; I'll convince her."

Jotaro waved his hand dismissively.

Although women's problems were always troublesome for him, the SPW Foundation people would handle it.

Okuyasu patted Koichi's shoulder, grinning, "Don't worry, Koichi, with Josuke and me here, even if that Stand User comes, we can beat him up!"

The blue phantom of The Hand flickered behind him, his right hand waved, and a cold gleam swept through the air, which slightly calmed Koichi's mood.

At the same time, he also looked forward to tomorrow's holiday, "Then tomorrow morning I..."

Koichi's Echoes Act 2 suddenly vibrated with a "buzz," its bright green wings flapping faster, clearly very excited.

"Everything according to plan.

Wait for the surveillance results and the old man's spirit photography.

You all go home for today."

"Okay, Mr. Jotaro!"

"Then I'll be going."

"Goodbye."

Jotaro, however, continued to look up at the small road, the fingertips of Star Platinum gently suspended in mid-air, and Jotaro's eyes grew deeper and deeper.

"What kind of person would do this?

Could it be another remnant of Dio's?"

What they didn't know was that a storm of bloodshed had already erupted in the town.

Sheer Heart Attack, after leaving Kira Yoshikage's sight, immediately started running wild.

It would prioritize attacking the object with the highest temperature around it, and after blowing that object to smithereens, it would check if it was the target; if not, it would continue to blow things up.

And after leaving that secluded street, out of Kira Yoshikage's sight, what would be the hottest and most numerous objects on the evening street during rush hour?

The answer was obvious...

On the sidewalk of the western commercial street, office workers in suits crowded together, briefcases bumping against briefcases.

Some held unextinguished cigarettes, some clutched freshly bought bento boxes, and even the air was filled with a mixture of soy sauce and gasoline smells.

The bus stop in the distance was even more crowded.

Elderly people leaned on railings, students carried their schoolbags, all waiting for their bus home.

However, at this moment, a young man on a bicycle was pedaling desperately, his face filled with madness, his legs pumping so fast that the bicycle was almost giving out, making creaking sounds.

In his state of frantic exhaustion, his head was also shaking wildly, saliva splattering everywhere, his eyes wide, and he was drenched in sweat.

But even so, he dared not stop, instead continuing to pedal desperately.

He charged recklessly into the street, and under the disgusted or wary gazes of the people, this madman-like fellow stumbled, his bicycle overturned, and he was thrown off.

But even though he fell to the ground in excruciating pain, he dared not rest.

Instead, he struggled desperately to get up, dragging a leg that seemed broken as he ran forward.

"Hey, hey, hey, run, run, everyone run quickly!

If you don't run, you'll explode!

Help, someone help me?!"

The man screamed in despair as he ran, which made the people nearby even more wary, and they all retreated further.

"This guy's a lunatic, isn't he?

How did he get out?

Don't the police do anything?"

"Damn it, get away, there's a psycho here!"

"Don't come near me, don't come near me."

Looking at the wary crowd, the distraught man wanted to say something, but in the end, he just opened his mouth and yelled, "Run!"

Then, ignoring the strange looks of the crowd, he ran forward, constantly glancing behind him.

There was nothing behind him, yet he seemed to be chased by some monster.

No one noticed that two tire tracks suddenly appeared on the ground; it was Sheer Heart Attack.

As a Stand, it cannot be observed by ordinary people; in their eyes, it is invisible, and only its tire tracks can be seen.

It turned slightly on the ground, sniffed, and then, as if smelling something delicious, suddenly jumped up and directly slammed into the bicycle ahead.

Due to its desperate forward movement, the bicycle's tires were smoking hot, and the gears were terrifyingly scorching, directly attracting Sheer Heart Attack.

Its skull-like shell gleamed coldly, and its six small wheels rolled over the tile cracks, colliding with the bicycle, and in an instant, there was an explosion.

"Boom—"

An explosion suddenly erupted in the crowd, and the bicycle was instantly blown to smithereens, leaving only ashes.

The terrifying force and shockwave generated by the explosion directly impacted the people.

Fortunately, due to their fear of the madman, the crowd was relatively far away, and the street was relatively wide, so only a few people were blown to the ground on the spot.

The remaining crowd had bewildered expressions.

An office worker nearby, holding a coffee, murmured, "The bicycle... exploded?

Am I dreaming?"

And the seemingly mad young man, seeing this scene, ran even more desperately forward, but he was already exhausted.

After only a few steps, he stumbled and fell to the ground, only able to look behind him in horror.

He knew that the scene he had just witnessed was about to happen again.

The office worker was about to take a sip of his hot coffee, but the next moment, the coffee cup suddenly shattered as if hit by something.

The office worker's hand was in excruciating pain; when he looked, his hand was gone.

An explosion erupted from the coffee cup, blowing off his hand, and after he realized what happened, a searing pain surged through his heart.

He immediately fell to his knees, too pained to even scream, clutching his blown-off hand, but the next moment, he too exploded, his entire body reduced to a pile of ash.

This time, due to the dense crowd, the shockwave even caused several surrounding people to bleed profusely and fall to the ground, groaning in pain.

The surrounding people also stopped, staring blankly at the empty spot where he had been.

But before they could speak further, the several people who had been blown down were also all detonated, just like a terrorist suicide bombing attack.

People witnessed a spectacular fireworks show; they saw clearly that those people seemed to shatter, cracking into streaks of light, and light emerged from the cracks, followed by a complete cracking and explosion.

"What is that?!

Run!"

The crowd finally erupted; they understood why that man had been so terrified.

He wasn't crazy; he was truly being chased by some invisible ghost!

Some retreated, some pulled out their phones to take pictures, forgetting that they too could be blown up at any moment.

Sheer Heart Attack turned, sensed something, then let out an angry roar, "No, not the target, look here!"

Of course, the crowd did not hear its voice, only screaming and fleeing.

Sheer Heart Attack directly chased after them; it sensed high temperatures!

It jumped up, climbed along the wall, and with two bangs, directly blew up two incandescent lights.

Seeing the sudden explosions on the lights, the crowd below grew even more terrified, and chaos erupted.

Stampedes, roars, and fights followed one after another, and Sheer Heart Attack roared again, "No, the previous explosions didn't hit humans! Look here!"

Then followed a series of explosions.

Even if it only hit people with normal body temperatures, Sheer Heart Attack's explosive power was enough to instantly reduce a person to ashes, and such a series of explosions was like throwing grenades into a crowd.

The scene immediately became a living hell.

At this moment, Kira Yoshihiro was perched on the back of a bird, its wings trembling.

He watched Sheer Heart Attack darting wildly through the crowd, having just blown up a person, it then targeted the indicator light of the distant bus stop.

"Yoshikage! It's going to blow up the bus stop! There are so many people there! Isn't this getting out of hand?"

He immediately dialed Kira Yoshikage's phone, his voice extremely low, yet unable to hide his panic, "If you don't come soon, something big is going to happen!"
