Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Murder in the Rain

The day before yesterday, it was Kira Yoshihiro, using his Atom Heart Father, who manipulated Kosaku Kawajiri, who was disguised as Kira Yoshikage, to successfully drive him to the location where he was finally apprehended.

He successfully became a scapegoat for Kira Yoshikage, exchanging his own life for a peaceful life for Kira Yoshikage—well, it was originally his life.

Kira Yoshikage was very grateful to him, just as Americans are grateful to Native Americans. He even wondered if he should express gratitude and commemorate his rebirth and Kosaku Kawajiri's sacrifice on this day every year.

Looking at the guard posts on the road, which had been removed and were no longer strictly checking, Kira Yoshikage's smile grew wider, more radiant, and happier.

"Hmm, it seems the arrest of the bomber indeed had a great impact on the town. It looks like the town has returned to peace."

Listening to Kira Yoshikage's joyful words, Kira Yoshihiro shook his head, a hint of worry still in his eyes. "No, I saw the surveillance footage from that child yesterday. He's not a normal child; he's monitoring this entire house."

"Yoshikage, you must be careful."

Thinking of that child watching the monitors to spy on his parents, Kira Yoshihiro felt it was unbelievable, even a little creepy.

'Is this really a child?'

"It doesn't matter, it's just a small matter. I'll get rid of him later. In comparison, how are Jotaro and the others now?"

Kira Yoshikage didn't care about Hayato, the child, at all. His tone was relaxed, and he was still looking at the flowers and plants by the roadside, enjoying the beautiful scenery.

In the original story, Hayato was able to turn the tables due to various factors like Jotaro and Stray Cat. Now that Bites the Dust Rhapsody was on him, all he needed to do was drive Jotaro and his group away.

"I'm not quite sure about that. I'll go to the Hospital and check again."

Kira Yoshihiro frowned, rubbing his chin in thought. Come to think of it, he really hadn't seen that group leave the Hospital. Could they still be staying in Morioh?

No, he had to check. He couldn't let these guys affect his child's happiness!

Without further ado, Kira Yoshihiro directly grabbed the arrow and flew out, intending to see what those Stand Users were up to, while Kira Yoshikage watched him leave.

As he flew, the photo suddenly paused. "Wait a minute..."

He touched his head, a look of sudden realization appearing on his face. "Come to think of it, weren't these people looking for this?"

He looked at the arrow in his hand and fell into contemplation. He seemed to understand why the other party hadn't left; they had indeed overlooked a very important matter... After arriving at the company.

Kosaku Kawajiri's return attracted some minor attention. Colleagues nodded to him, their voices carrying routine greetings, "Mr. Kawajiri, are you feeling better?"

"I heard you encountered a bombing. What an unexpected calamity."

Kira Yoshikage perfectly played Kosaku Kawajiri, responding to each, his face showing a moderate level of post-disaster relief and fatigue.

His tone also captured the original owner's accent. "Ah, yes, thanks to you, much better... Yes, it was terrifying..."

However, on his face, there was only fatigue and relief, not a trace of fear, which made his colleagues feel awkward but couldn't pinpoint what was wrong. They all dispersed after a short while.

He walked to his desk, where some documents were piled up. He sat down, opened his computer, and his gaze quickly scanned the work emails and to-do items on the screen.

These trivial tasks, which might take half a day for an ordinary office worker to complete, were handled cleanly and systematically by Kira Yoshikage in less than an hour, thanks to his extraordinary efficiency.

His efficiency was somewhat abnormal.

A colleague at the next desk occasionally cast a surprised glance, seemingly finding today's Kawajiri's efficiency unbelievably high.

Kira Yoshikage immediately realized this, and a hint of understanding welled up in his heart. 'Right, Kosaku Kawajiri and their work efficiency isn't as high as mine, and they definitely slack off daily, making their efficiency even lower.'

He deliberately slowed down his subsequent actions, even pretending to ponder over a document for a long time, occasionally rubbing his temples, showing the appearance of "recovering from injury, slightly strained."

What he needed was to blend in, not to stand out, just like Kosaku Kawajiri.

At the same time, his brain was still working at high speed.

He recalled the annoying face of Kosaku Kawajiri's boss, a middle-aged man with a sharp tongue who was very irritating.

A perfect... target.

Kira Yoshikage's fingertips lightly tapped on the keyboard, a cold calculation flashing deep in his eyes.

Advancement was necessary, not just for money, but also to reduce trouble, solidify this new identity, and allow his enormous wealth to be used legitimately.

Perhaps... he could plan a small "accident"? One sufficient to cause that boss to be negligent or even leave. For Killer Queen, this was not difficult.

At this critical juncture, killing might not be ideal, as it would easily attract attention, but making someone leave was still very easy.

Outside the window, raindrops began to patter on the glass.

Kira Yoshikage glanced out the window, a subtle curve forming at the corner of his mouth, unnoticed by anyone. He had brought an umbrella. Ah, yes, he had brought an umbrella.

Beneath the calm life of an office worker, the hunting instinct never ceased. He had already planned how to carry out this hunt.

And the other "little trouble" at home also needed to be put on the processing schedule as soon as possible. He hoped Hayato would be obedient, otherwise, another traffic accident would have to be added.

If that happened, Mrs. Shinobu would be very sad.

Thinking this, he looked up at the fat man who was shouting orders at the employees. That fat man was his boss, Section Chief Sato.

This was the first time he had seen this fat man, but he had already experienced his annoying demeanor.

The day before yesterday, he had just been disguised and sent to the Hospital, and this bastard called him to ask why he hadn't come to work. After he stated that he had been attacked by terrorists and was injured in the Hospital.

He even insisted that he find official personnel to prove it... After having the security guard next to him confirm, he still kept rushing him, telling him to quickly find a way to be discharged and come to work. Damn it, he really didn't treat people as human beings.

If it weren't for his constant calls, Kira Yoshikage had originally planned to deal with Mrs. Shinobu first, and then come to deal with him.

This guy treated people like mere beasts... Even if it wasn't for advancement, he had to find a way to kill this damned boss.

Seeing Kira Yoshikage looking at him, he even turned his head and scolded, "What are you looking at? Don't think you can slack off just because you're injured! Where's your momentum from this morning? Get back to work!"

"...Okay."

Kira Yoshikage turned back, smiling, and continued working, while simultaneously having already sentenced this guy to death.

The lunch break bell rang, and the office building was immediately filled with rustling footsteps and conversations. Colleagues were all going downstairs to eat.

Kira Yoshikage unhurriedly tidied his desk and picked up the long-handled umbrella.

The rain was falling heavily, and the world was a gloomy gray. Colleagues crowded at the entrance, complaining about the weather, hesitating whether to rush to the cafeteria for the unappetizing company meal or buy something delicious from outside.

Just then, that unpleasant boss, Section Chief Sato, also waddled out, a toothpick in his mouth, preparing to brave the rain to his usual small restaurant.

After all, the company cafeteria food was indeed unappetizing, and he couldn't eat it either. On this point, he was relatively understanding and wouldn't encroach on the employees' mealtime.

"Tsk, this wretched weather." Section Chief Sato grumbled, glancing at the dense curtain of rain outside the door, looking somewhat annoyed.

Kira Yoshikage's gaze calmly swept over the outside of the door. Just right, the timing was just right.

The company entrance faced a short, sloping driveway that connected to the main road. Because of the rain, car speeds wouldn't be too fast, but visibility would be somewhat affected.

He followed a few colleagues out the main door, as if he too was going to eat, and in his hand was a still somewhat damp umbrella.

The second before he stepped out from under the eaves and into the rain, he seemed to want to shake off the few raindrops clinging to the umbrella surface. He gave his wrist a gentle flick, shaking his umbrella.

The long-handled umbrella arced subtly in the air, and a few precisely controlled water droplets, which hadn't fully shaken off, flew out.

Using the force of that flick, the water droplets silently splashed out, and with the help of Killer Queen, landed on the smooth tile floor in front of the door, precisely where Section Chief Sato was about to step.

The movement was fluid and natural; no one noticed this small detail. To onlookers, he merely habitually shook his umbrella before going out, like everyone else.

Section Chief Sato, completely unaware, stepped on those few water droplets, and then those few water droplets underwent a small explosion. However, the explosion was very weak, and its silent nature made it impossible for anyone to detect.

"Ouch!"

His foot slipped, pushed by the force of the explosion. His corpulent body instantly lost balance, he let out a startled cry, flailed his arms and legs, and tumbled forward, rolling over.

And the direction he fell was precisely the junction of the company driveway and the outside road.

Almost simultaneously, a delivery truck, skidding slightly due to the rain and carefully entering the company area, drove over. The driver was focused on the crowd at the company entrance ahead.

He tried to pass slowly, completely unprepared for someone to suddenly fall out from the side, and even less so for the person who was struggling to make a sound or get away, to be directly gagged by Killer Queen and pressed in front of the wheel.

It wasn't until the truck was almost on his face that the force on his body disappeared, and he barely managed to scramble up.

"Bang!!"

A dull thud, accompanied by a sharp, ear-splitting screech of brakes and the startled screams of colleagues around.

Section Chief Sato was thrown through the air, crashing heavily onto the slippery road several meters away, curling into a ball, instantly silent.

Blood quickly seeped from beneath him, spreading into a large, glaring red stain, diluted by the rainwater.

The truck driver, his face ashen, jumped out of the vehicle, looking at the scene before him, utterly at a loss.

The crowd at the entrance immediately erupted. Some screamed, some covered their mouths, some frantically pulled out their phones to call the police and an ambulance.

Kira Yoshikage stood at the edge of the crowd, his face appropriately showing the same shock, fear, and bewilderment as everyone else.

He even took a slight step back, as if startled by the sudden tragedy, but he had to exert great effort to suppress a faint smile on his face.

No one would connect this "accident" to him. It was merely an unfortunate coincidence: slippery roads in the rain, the victim accidentally slipped, and the driver's vision was obstructed, preventing him from reacting in time.

A perfect, reasonable "accident."

Kira Yoshikage looked at the bloody scene, no ripples in the depths of his eyes, only a cold satisfaction that his plan had been achieved. The obstacle was cleared.

Next, with his extraordinary work abilities, advancement was only a matter of time.

He even "kindly" reminded a terrified colleague next to him, "Quick... quickly call an ambulance!"

Then, as if unable to bear the gruesome scene, he turned, opened his umbrella, and after spitting twice.

He, along with several other pale-faced companions, slowly walked towards a nearby convenience store, as if merely going to buy lunch, though his steps were slightly heavy, perfectly playing the role of a startled ordinary employee.

The rain continued to fall, washing away bloodstains and all traces.
