The reason Tver chose to leave was, in fact, to give them time to react.
Although United Nations ambassadors held considerable authority and could be called representatives of their nations' will on that stage, they were still only representatives in the end.
After receiving Tver's new speech, their countries would still need their leaders and think tanks to discuss it from every angle. They might even have to look through their agents' investigation files on wizards and hear the opinions of ordinary employees at the Joint Operations Office.
In short, in a world dominated by democratic countries, the handling of government affairs was never going to be fast.
On top of that, this matter involved strengthening the responsibilities of wizards, so it was completely within Tver's expectations that they would think it over with extreme caution.
Therefore, his departure was entirely based on objective considerations.
As for the extra effects, taking the opportunity to apply pressure, making the magic world's position clear, and establishing the authority of wizards, those were just pleasant surprises.
After returning to Britain, Tver dealt with the backlog of work at the Joint Operations Office, reviewed the intelligence sent by Marvolio, and only then headed to Hogsmeade.
Joanne had already decided to stay there for the time being, at least until she finished writing the first Harry Potter book.
To show her dedication, she had even sent Catherine to school and hired people specifically to look after her, namely Bulstrode and a nanny.
"This is what you call focus?"
Tver looked strangely at Joanne, who was standing at the door to welcome him. Her face had visibly rounded out.
The Joanne from before had been a single Mum who could barely afford to eat.
But after Tver hired her and began paying her wages, her treatment in terms of food had been lifted straight from the bottom of British society to the very top.
After nearly a year of that, never mind her temperament, at least her figure was no longer as thin and bony as before.
But at most, she had been a somewhat slender lady.
And now, it had been less than half a month since Tver had last seen her, yet the Joanne before him already had the classic signs of weight gain, a double chin and a little belly.
"I underestimated it. The food in the magic world is even better than I imagined." Joanne wiped at the corner of her mouth, though the greasy crumbs there were not something she could clean away with her hand.
Seeing Tver's speechless look, she hurriedly said, "I've already started running recently. I absolutely won't let myself turn fat!"
Tver avoided her hand in distaste when she tried to grab him, then strode into the house he had rented in Hogsmeade.
It was a common wood-and-thatch house in Hogsmeade. With magic reinforcing it, there was no need to worry about its sturdiness or safety.
Although it had all the basic furniture, and was even quite refined, it lacked many modern products. It did not even have electricity. For an ordinary person like Joanne, who could not use magic, the living environment could only be described as old-fashioned.
So in terms of comfort, it was absolutely no match for Joanne's flat in London.
Looking at it that way, Joanne's decision to live here for a while really did count as a difficult one.
"Whether you get fat or not has nothing to do with me. Besides, some potions can help you lose weight and keep you healthy. The problem is…"
Deeply shocked, he pointed at the half-finished grilled steak on the living room table, and at the empty Chocolate Frog boxes scattered all over the floor.
"We agreed that I'd see the manuscript for the first book before the end of the year. If you're putting all your energy into… tasting food, will you still have time to write?"
However, there was a little cake on the table that was clearly as dark as chocolate, yet gave off the scent of lemon. That strange combination deeply aroused Tver's investigative interest.
"You don't need to worry about that." The plumper Joanne had become much bolder. Not only had she lost her previous stiffness in front of her boss, she even waved her hand grandly and slapped it down in front of Tver.
On the dining table.
After rummaging around for a while, she pulled a stack of manuscript pages with chocolate crumbs stuck to the cover out from among various packaging boxes.
"Look!" Joanne excitedly handed the manuscript over. "The outline you gave me wasn't much to begin with. I finished the first draft ages ago!"
Although she had only barely finished it two days ago, that did not stop her from shamelessly wearing a proud, credit-seeking expression now.
"Wasn't much?"
Tver curiously took the manuscript, which was not especially thick. After flipping through it for a while, he finally realized something.
The story in his memory was the film version. Forget comparing it to the original novel, even the film script itself would not have been all that thick.
Although it still contained the main story of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the magical atmosphere in the book was lacking in many ways.
Or rather, a large part of why the Harry Potter story had become popular all over the world was that it depicted an extremely realistic wizarding world.
The original novel used words and countless details to fill out and build its world, while the film version relied on visual details, sets, and props to construct it.
If the story were written based on the film version, then even if the main content remained unchanged, its ability to make readers feel immersed would be much weaker.
That was also why books were commonly adapted into films, but very few films could be adapted into books, published, and then become popular.
"This is my problem. I still provided too little information. Asking you to fill in the details and create a realistic Hogwarts was too much."
Tver placed Joanne's half-month of hard work back down. After thinking for a moment, he felt he still needed to deepen Joanne's understanding of the story's details.
"Wait here. I'll go invite a few guests over."
"?"
Joanne's round face froze. Even the shine of oil on her lips seemed to reflect rows of question marks.
"Then what about my manuscript?"
"You wrote it well," Tver said perfunctorily without looking back as he reached the door, "but I'll have to trouble you to rewrite it."
"???"
Fortunately, Tver was not gone for long. After about the time it took to eat two Chocolate Frogs and half a steak, he returned with three students who were beginning to shed their youthful awkwardness.
"This is Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger." Tver pulled the bewildered trio inside.
Looking at the bright eyes of the plump woman in front of them, the three of them, for some reason, felt as though they were about to be stripped bare.
"Professor," Hermione said hesitantly, "we have class this afternoon…"
"I checked your schedules. It's Sirius's Defence Against the Dark Arts. Skip it."
Tver said this without the slightest hesitation, pressing them into the seats opposite Joanne. Then, like a nanny, he helped clear away the rubbish, took out the new snacks Joanne had hidden away and set them on the table, and started eating them on his own.
"Say something." Tver sat in the middle, eating a little cake as he looked at the four silent people as if this were only natural.
"Say… say what?" Harry asked blankly.
They had still been eating lunch when the Professor had rushed in excitedly, as though he were coming to arrest them, grabbed all three of them, and brought them here by Apparition.
They still had not recovered from the fact that the Professor could use Apparition inside the school.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you." Tver suddenly realized.
"This is Joanne. I think the stories of your past few years are, well, very exciting, so I plan to have someone help record them."
Harry, Ron, and Hermione immediately breathed a sigh of relief. They had thought something urgent had happened that needed them.
Wait. Their stories?!
