Chapter 13 - Beast Showdown! Shihon vs Luna Gang!

So much for a 'slice-of-life' web novel.

The metallic claw of the Magical Beast crab shot out of its joints and magnified, slamming into Shihon and pulverizing her into a nearby wall before shooting back into place with no pain.

"Haha! Nice one, Kleokrush! This Magical Beast we're facing is ass!" sneered a member of the Luna Gang before turning to his companions. "Its Master might arrive soon. We'll beat up his beast and take his stuff too!"

"Ha! Not a bad idea!"

"I like how you think!"

"This should be fun!" were the multiple confident answers.

They cautiously waited for the dust to settle, revealing the status of their opponent.

Then, a blur flashed past that dust cloud.

"-hk, Xalamader!!" cried another member, calling out to his Magical Beast who spat out a column of fire in the direction of that blur.

The battered body of the wolf-like entity sidestepped it, foaming at the mouth and powering forward, closing the distance within two seconds and leaving the group screaming like little girls.

Their Magical Beasts, unlike their pussy-ass masters, stood firm and counterattacked.

Hellpheren, the light grey horse able to summon swords telepathically, aimed at the target and let them fly, but vines from Shihon shot out and immobilized them in midair before the distance between the two beasts amounted to zero with her insane speed.

Before Hellpheren or any other Magical Beast could react, Shihon swatted the horse into the abandoned house as if it was a fly.

Hellpheren's neigh of utter despair as it tumbled, rolled, spun and rocked on the ground while being rocketed into the concrete wall Shihon's left was silenced on impact.

Jesus fucking Christ. I'm so sorry for laughing, but is bro dead?

Please pray for the others.

The other two Magical Beasts as well as the Luna Gang slowly cocked their heads to the side, looking at the damage done with one attack.

"HELLPHEREN!!"

"XALAMANDER, LET'S RUN!!!

"KLEOKRUSH, ATTACK!!"

The group went into a hellish pandemonium.

Some tried to scatter, while the robber who owned Kleokrush ordered the beast to keep fighting.

The crab shot its metallic claw out of its joints, and the claw grew in size just as it was about to collide with Shihon's head.

"Nice shot-"

Shihon spun and kicked it straight into the space between the legs of Kleokrush's Master, inches away from his testicles.

"E-E….E…..Eh…" he stammered, unable to process what just happened.

Then, his fear receptors kicked in, and…

A yellow liquid trickled down his legs from his pants as he trembled uncontrollably.

He subconsciously released his grip on the pouch that he had stolen and dropped to his knees, and Kleokrush closed its eyes, fading into nothingness as it gave up and recalled itself into his Master's summoning ring.

Xalamander was now beside Shihon, and as the latter glared at it through the corner of her eyes, the former tried its best to avoid eye contact.

Shihon immediately howled a gust of wind at it, putting out its red, hot, fiery color and leaving the beast with a dark blue skin…

…Before growing a tail out of her body in the form of a flower stalk and gunning it down continuously with knife-like petals that shot out from the tail's end.

Everyone except for the robber fled, and all of the Magical Beasts (can we get a life update on Hellpheren please?) had been recalled.

This was not a battle. This was an extermination.

And all I have to say is…

…Shihon, did you really just do all this over the mildest type of robbery known to mankind?

I fear for what happens if she comes to know about your work, Liohime.

Finally, a panting, worn out duo emerged onto the abandoned construction site, notably (speak of the devil), Liohime as well as the middle-aged woman with glasses who had been robbed.

Before Shihon could make a move that could potentially end the man's life–

"Shihon...stand….down."

–Liohime Kitagami's voice had reached her, and as Shihon turned to face him, the robber made a quick getaway.

Liohime did not give chase, and Shihon kept her eyes on him. The former sighed with exasperation before hobbling towards the pouch and picking it up.

"We need to have a talk about what happened today," he scolded her with a disappointed look, "cause you've been pretty bad, leaving your Master like that and continuing to move forward even when I tried to tell you to stand down."

Her eyes widened, and as she was still in her beast form, her sulking was a whine and snarl.

"Hey, don't give me that look. Anyway, the important thing is that you're safe."

He handed the pouch over to the woman with a smile and a sweaty face.

"Here you go, ma'am."

"Thank you…both of you."

Sirens then wailed as three police cars stopped at the entrance of the compound, causing Liohime to flinch and take a step back on instinct.

Shit…what now?

Police officers rushed to the scene, with the tallest one calling out:

"We got a call about a commotion with a Magical Beast running riot…"

Liohime's gears quickly shifted, and he responded with tact.

"Ah, yes, please forgive me, officers. There was a robbery that just took place. Unfortunately, I was unable to take control of my Magical Beast who ran after him without my order."

He furrowed his brows and narrowed his eyes at Shihon whilst saying that, causing her to shudder, while the officers tensed up.

"A robbery, you say?"

"Yes," the female victim replied hastily, "They mostly scattered to the southside of this complex. You can probably still catch them if you hurry."

"Sure," an oversized officer who kept a donut in his right hand snapped, "but make sure to keep your Magical Beast under control, man. We don't want major accidents happening because of your lack of discipline."

Liohime gulped and scratched his head. Yikes. Harsh.

"Go easy on the kid, guys," an ominous voice called out.

The direction from where this voice came as well as the familiarity of that said voice chilled Liohime to the bone.

His breath stopped, the hairs on his skin raised, and his heart raced.

He, as well as everyone else, turned to face the tall, bulk, towering figure emerging from the shadows of a crane just a few feet from Liohime.

For a split second, everyone got on edge, but then they relaxed on seeing him. Everyone except Liohime.

"Oh, it's just you, sergeant," muttered one of the officers, chuckling.

The man, wearing a black boho hat that covered the top half of his facial features, removed it with his right hand, displaying wrinkles and a solemn expression as well as large scars on both his forehead and under his left eye.

"Still calling me sergeant even after I retired is something," he said in a low tone.

His pupils were completely black, devoid of any light, completing his menacing look.

And for Liohime, it was even more menacing.

After all, he was the man who he had pledged full loyalty to.

He was the man who had eyes everywhere.

He was the man who he knew had a double side.

He was the man who ordered him around, causing chaos in Polar Town.

Yes this man, the retired sergeant of the Polar Town Police Department, was–

…Chief.

--The now dreaded chief of the Shinigami Soldiers whose identity is unknown to almost all…

…The Devil of Delight, Matsuo Yamamoto.
