He didn't think to withdraw them after he slipped away, he must have been really desperate to escape. He should know about Pilfer, we discussed it with him present when we were brainstorming how to defeat the Angels during the trial.
I guess he just panicked and couldn't think straight when he didn't regenerate. But the effect of Pilfer will wear off in a minute or so, and his Undead Immortality Skill will return to him. Once he realizes what happened, this won't work on him again.
He might even return right away...but I think that's unlikely. He'll probably want to bolster his forces again, what with the entirety of his undead creatures having been wiped out in this battle.
But...right now, something else is at the forefront of my mind...
