"What the hell is this thing?!" Lyla's hands, holding the gun, trembled uncontrollably. Although the light in the room was dim, the Enchantress's glowing green eyes were still clearly visible.
"This creature is the thing attached to your doctor. Perhaps she was once human. If I'm not mistaken, she likely used West African Voodoo techniques to make herself neither human nor ghost. For the past few centuries, she has called herself the Enchantress."
With too many people in the room, it wasn't convenient to transform using the Lantern Ring. Thea took out the divine longbow and nocked a Lightning Arrow, preparing for the opponent's potential attack.
Lyla gestured to the guards behind her, signaling them to leave first. The room was too small. These guys had rushed in looking loyal, but every one of them was burly and strong, blocking the doorway tightly. Lyla didn't need their loyalty right now; she just wanted to get out quickly!
She whispered to Thea, "Can you handle that shadow thing?"
"More or less... You should get out of here first." Thea had observed for a while and already discovered the opponent's physical issues. In terms of pure magic power, she was definitely stronger than Thea, but her body had stiffened. No one knew how much of that power she could actually bring to bear. If the opponent were truly invincible, would she need to curl up in the corner and guard cautiously?
Did Lyla really need her to say that? She had wanted to get out ages ago! But with the door blocked by several idiots, she couldn't leave. After gesturing for half the day, she remembered that it was pitch black right now; these people couldn't see at all. She was afraid to speak lest she expose her position and provoke that ghostly thing to attack her. She was so annoyed inside.
Seeing that Lyla didn't leave but instead held her pistol in a defensive stance, Thea—whose entire mind was focused on the Enchantress and didn't know the truth behind her back—was quite moved. This big sister looks cold, but her heart is actually warm!
"Can you understand me?" Stalemate wasn't a solution, so Thea had to break the silence.
Unfortunately, after switching through several languages, the opponent remained indifferent, merely curling up in the corner and staring silently at them.
"Are your vocal organs gone? Or do you just not understand? Can you return to that body to communicate with us?" Thea suggested, pointing to June Moone, who was no longer struggling and was sleeping soundly on the bed.
But the opponent still ignored her. Instead, as Thea spoke more, the opponent's gaze stared at Thea viciously, like a wolf.
Both were magic users, so the opponent's thoughts weren't hard to guess.
"What, you've taken a liking to my body? Want to drain my magic power to restore your vitality? Foolish!" Thea had already killed one and a half gods; was she afraid of a witch whose body was half-stiff? Sensing the opponent's malice becoming increasingly obvious, she knew negotiations had failed. Raising the divine bow, she swiftly fired Boss Zeus's Lightning Arrow.
Originally, the Arrow of Woman's Revenge would have been the best choice to deal with her, but it was unknown if this woman had never done bad things or never had a boyfriend. The Revenge Arrow had no reaction to her, so Thea could only switch to the Lightning Arrow for the first strike.
Regular Lightning Arrows didn't have the property of crossing time and space, but as an artifact arrow crafted personally by Zeus for Artemis, its power far exceeded ordinary magic. It was currently Thea's strongest single-target attack.
This arrow seemed slow but was actually extremely fast. Large amounts of electric arcs were constantly produced along the arrow's flight path. When it hit the caught-off-guard Enchantress, it even generated a string of massive ball lightning. The light of the lightning temporarily dispelled the dark magic in the room, and the group finally saw the Enchantress's face clearly while squinting their eyes.
"Hiss—" The sound of sucking in cold air echoed in the room. The fat woman had magically hidden herself in the middle of a pile of guards, her heart trembling as she looked at the witch's eyes of the dead! This is a monster! No matter what anyone says, I'm not working at this hospital anymore!
Thea didn't have time to pay attention to their thoughts. She only knew that her arrow hadn't killed the opponent; instead, the opponent's zombie-like body had resisted most of the damage.
She didn't stop. Constantly drawing the bow and nocking arrows, Fire Arrows and Light Arrows rained down onto the opponent's head.
Frustrating! Thea was a little displeased. She also specialized in Dark Magic and Mind Control magic; their skills overlapped to some extent. If there were no outsiders, it wouldn't matter, but there were quite a few onlookers now. If she also fought hard surrounded by black mist, it would damage her hero image too much.
For now, the only proper course was to rely on the divine longbow's magic arrows to rapidly consume the opponent's magic power.
As Thea fired a storm of arrows, the ordinary people in the room recovered some of their vision. What else was there to say? They ran for their lives! A few with poor nerves threw away their guns, running and shouting, "There's a monster! Run..."
The entire underground facility was in chaos, and panic quickly spread to the buildings above.
"I'll go upstairs to stabilize the situation! Reinforcements will be here soon." Lyla finally found a decent excuse. After telling Thea, she ran out.
Thea nodded. She hadn't expected Lyla's small pistol to deal much damage anyway. With her gone from the scene, many of Thea's own methods were now convenient to use.
"Doppelganger!" Seeing Lyla disappear at the elevator leading to the upper level, Thea finally played a trump card.
The doppelganger shared her mind and began to cooperate with her spellcasting, casting various debuffs on the opponent and buffs on Thea.
Putting on the Yellow Lantern Ring and materializing chains to bind the Enchantress, the longbow in Thea's hand didn't stop at all—one arrow after another.
By the time she had used the Enchantress as target practice and fired the eleventh arrow, the opponent's body began to expand rapidly. Drumming up a large amount of magic power, she broke open the materialized chains. She could no longer simply endure it; although her body was tough, and a hundred points of fire damage only dealt thirty points to her at most, she couldn't handle the sheer quantity.
Especially seeing Thea's doppelganger being so agile—this was going to be a two-on-one! You are too shameless! Even her sluggish mind grew irritated. Suppressing the greed in her heart, she began to counterattack.
The Enchantress possessed an extremely rare displacement ability. She instantly appeared behind Thea, clawing towards her heart.
"Is that all!" Thea's fighting ability was considered top-tier in the current world. Plus, she had been guarding against her attack. Facing the black claws, she drew the Godslayer Sword, infused the blade with fire-attribute magic to block the claws, and slashed back at her neck.
Whoosh—
The longsword hit nothing but air. A violent tremor rippled through the air, and the opponent appeared on Thea's other side, sharp claws grabbing at her face. Thea could only retreat two steps to reopen the distance.
Very strange ability! The opponent's melee combat ability was simply not worth mentioning, but this spatial displacement made Thea suffer greatly. Constantly using her agile skills to dodge, it was inevitable that there would be negligence over a long period.
When the opponent displaced for the fourth time, Thea finally discovered the principle of this move. She could appear in any corner where her magic power existed. In other words, as long as the scattered magic power in the air was dispelled, her displacement would naturally be broken.
