The generals exchanged bewildered glances. Finally, the oldest among them responded. "I'm sorry, Mr. President. We've tried everything—even deep hypnosis. From our analysis, it appears Luthor created an invincible monster. The situation is dire. We need your decision on how to proceed."
The President's pointing finger trembled. He was so furious he could barely speak. These bastards had been playing their secret games all along, and now that things had spiraled out of control, they were throwing him under the bus.
For crying out loud, he should've been out enjoying himself by now. Instead, here he was at this ungodly hour, stuck dealing with these incompetents!
"You all saw what the nuke did. What other options do we have? Give me something I can actually authorize!" The President had no real authority over these people and no way to punish them. He could only vent his frustration verbally before cleaning up their mess himself. Suppressing the urge to grab an assault rifle and shoot these generals, he turned to his advisors.
Everyone fell silent. What could they do against such a terrifying monster? They all kept their heads down.
"We've been reduced to relying on three women to save us. Gentlemen, where are our male superheroes?" The President pointed at the TV screen in frustration.
"Where's Superman? And what about Batman? Where are these people? Commander Waller—" The President turned to Amanda, then noticed her displeased expression and immediately realized his mistake. "Sorry, I didn't mean to be sexist. I just... I don't even know what I'm saying anymore!"
Fortunately, Amanda had strong patriotic fervor and automatically ignored the sexism issue, reporting in her characteristic robotic manner: "Superman was severely injured by Luthor earlier. As for Batman, he's just an ordinary human. His contribution to a battle of this magnitude would be limited."
Luthor. Always Luthor. The President wanted to devour him. He slammed the desk. "Bring Luthor to me!"
Seeing the President about to lose it completely, his voice echoing through the White House—"Bring him... bring him..."—no one dared provoke him further. Before long, Luthor was brought in.
Mr. Luthor showed no awareness of being a prisoner. He even offered architectural commentary on the White House's layout, infuriating the President enough to consider execution.
"Weakness?" Luthor looked at the President like he was hopelessly ignorant. He pointed at the images of Thea and the others on screen. "These people have weaknesses—their families, their emotions. But the Doomsday I created is perfect. It has no emotions, no concept of good or evil, and therefore no weaknesses."
Unfortunately, most of the politicians in the room specialized in law and social sciences. They completely failed to grasp Luthor's theological and critical perspective.
The only thing they understood was that Thea and her allies had weaknesses, while the monster threatening to destroy Earth did not.
This news couldn't be worse. The President had no choice but to reconnect with Thea.
Thea poured out her grievances, her acting skills in overdrive. She described Doomsday's growing strength and apparent invulnerability. In short: the enemy was too powerful—you'd better start praying.
Luthor, who didn't know the meaning of fear, beamed with pride as she praised Doomsday, as if his own child had been complimented. This only deepened everyone's despair.
Following Thea's advice, they actually began praying. They prayed the Earth would rotate faster, so when Doomsday jumped down again, it would land in some other country!
At that moment, Thea had no idea about their wishful thinking. She and Diana and Supergirl had just encountered the Batplane.
They found a weakened Superman. Thea pulled out her power ring to help recharge him, while Supergirl produced a solar absorption device Thea had given her, channeling pure solar energy into Superman's body.
Between their efforts and Superman's natural healing, he gradually regained some vitality and flew out of the Batplane.
This relieved Thea somewhat. After all, a Superman arriving to battle in a Batplane would be way too disturbing.
To accommodate Batman, they landed and began strategizing.
"The enemy's still alive?" Superman finally had time to look up. In the original timeline, he'd only been hit by one nuke. Now, after over a dozen consecutive explosions, even with Doomsday's cellular reproduction rate, it took considerable time for bodily repair.
"Yes, and it's getting stronger. Initially, I could fight it to a draw. Now it takes all three of us together to barely suppress it. Its cellular reproduction is extremely fast. The cells—"
Thea gave them the condensed version of her "battle" analysis.
Midway through, they reconnected with the White House. Luthor held nothing back, detailing his entire experimental process. For him, showcasing his genius was paramount.
"Kryptonite!" Batman and Superman simultaneously realized Doomsday's weakness after hearing Luthor's account.
Just as they were discussing strategy, a meteor-like object plummeted toward the ground. Everyone's prayers had been completely wasted—its target was still Metropolis.
"Doomsday's back! Get the kryptonite. We'll hold it off." Thea finished speaking and took off with the other two women.
Superman wanted to help, but his body was severely depleted. He'd only regained mobility. He told Batman: "You get the kryptonite. I'm going to the sun to recover." He flew toward the sun.
Meanwhile, the three women engaged Doomsday again. This was the creature's umpteenth upgrade.
After repeated nuclear attacks, its energy level now exceeded the original timeline's peak.
It showed signs of energy destabilization, with massive orange-red arcs constantly flickering around its body.
Thea's conjured chains snapped instantly. Heat vision drove Diana back. In their clash, Doomsday sent Supergirl flying.
Its energy level now surpassed all three, with a hint of dominance.
Their attacks on Doomsday had shifted from suppression to containment. The increasingly frenzied creature began wreaking havoc on the city.
The military wasn't idle. Dozens of fighter jets launched brave attacks. Unfortunately, while their missiles might have had some effect early on, against this upgraded Doomsday, they couldn't inflict even minor damage.
The fighters were destroyed like toys by Doomsday.
The only good news was that through pulling and dragging, they'd moved the battlefield to the outskirts, avoiding the massive city destruction seen in the movie.
Diana used her Guardian Bracelets' power, holding her shield with both hands to block the heat vision. She bought Thea a moment of time.
Raising the Sword of Victory and Oaths high, Thea didn't plan to use her kryptonite weapons. She prepared to test the creature's defenses with the holy sword's full-power strike.
