Morning arrived and Leximus woke up and stared at the ceiling and realised it was not made of rotting wood rather it was refined cement.After sitting there for a while staring staring blankly,he at sat up and threw aside the heavy ,clean,white blanket on the clean,white cloth covered thick mattress on the sturdy wooden bed then placed his hand over his face,'So,it wasn't a dream after all.'He thought as his mind raced through the events of the previous day.'That also means what I saw yesterday was real.' He then just stood up and opened the curtains to reveal a town covered by the pure white light from the sun and now that he was observing the town from a raised ground and in the presence of sunlight it seemed more majestic,the large,black chimneys rising from the ground,the whitewashed walls of the perfectly structured and constructed houses really brought a refreshing feeling from what he had used to see back in the slums where sometimes it felt like the sun never rose,but instead of enjoying the view,he just took a good look at the truly elegant sight he just clenched his teeth,turned around and walked away from the window,'This is what these people get to live with while us at the slums just suffer with barely breathable air,houses that nearly fall on us and poorly maintained waste-spitting factories while these people just get the good life just because they happened to have a few more coins in their pockets than we do,that's simply unfair.'He told himself as he entered the bathroom he paused for a moment and stared at the well-made,well-furnished bathroom.It wasn't anything like the one back at his home ,the metal pipes on the wall were not dirty and full of rust,the mirror on the gray walls was perfect and it was twice the large.He stood there for a good amount of time before closing the door behind him.He removed his shirt and went in front of the mirror and as he took a good look of himself on the mirror only to notice his upper half to the neck had some Caucasian spots,goosebumps,he then chuckled as he instantly remembered the excuse he gave the day before,"Too cold so I decided not to."He told his image in the mirror with a faint chuckle and a painful,fake,wide smile playing on his lips,"That was a stupid excuse."He added as he walked away from the mirror towards the water tap,he opened it and let the water run in the silver-coloured bucket that was below it.He stood there observing the water fall into the bucket as he got lost in thought again,'If I do join his organisation will I be able to obtain that power kind of power?Yet again it may be that this power is something one is born with so it may be I cannot get this power,that is also a possibility,'he then began pacing around the room his eyeballs rolling in their sockets observing random areas in the room,'If that power truly is birthright then it will be difficult for me to reach my goal but if it can be acquired then that will be more beneficial,the other problem is what he told me something about dealing with Avatars who break the law that most if not all the time I will be dealing with things are not in any of my interests,'He sighed as he sub-consciously walked back to the water tap slowly with his right hand over his belly holding his left hand which was over his chin,'So what should I do,the best thing to do is accept which will gift me with the power needed to exact my revenge with the downside being that I will have a lot of distractions which do not involve my goals and that is discarding the possibility it is a birthright and if I do not accept then I lose the chance to acquire the power needed and getting to my goal a lot more harder,the best choice is to join and if I get what I need and they do not help me I can always fake my death but that...will...be...very...hard?'He paused a bit after noticing that he had stepped on something cold and as he moved his head to view he noticed a clear liquid was flowing with its origins in front of it that's when he noticed it was his bathing water,"Damn it!I forgot!"He exclaimed as he rushed and closed the tap,moved the bucket then bathed.The moment the water came in contact with his body again he indeed confirmed that the water was extremely cold and this was indeed the reason why he did not bath yesterday,he could have skipped today but the problem is that since the slums had sewage accumulation in the streets and the also any kind of garbage including human waste and if you combine all the different oduors you get the kind of air that dominated the slums and the problem was that this smell etched onto the body thus making one to carry that odour with them men,women and children a like and this is why slum residents bath twice a day,Leximus was no exception and since he had not bathe before he truly stank.He finished bathing,grabbed the towel next to the mirror,wrapped it around his waist then stood there ready to address the second problem,his clothes,the smell does not stick on human bodies only even clothes so if he wore his clothes,he will definitely attract attention.He picked up his clothes on the floor and took a sniff from them and indeed they reeked,he then held them in his left arm and approached the door and opened it,then paused for a moment then the wide smile returned on his face only this time his mouth was trembling then it stopped and he took a deep breath then regained his calm composure and exited the bathroom only for him to see a brown box settled on the study. table,'This was not there when I woke up right?'He tried to refresh his foggy memory but due to him being in a trance like state in the morning nothing was coming up so he walked to the table and opened the box and how relieved he was he would not have to wear his stinky clothes now that he had found something to wear so he wasted no time and put them on,a white high collared shirt,a black thin tie,a pair of jeans,a black windbreaker and a dim grey overcoat and the black leather dress boots which were under the study table with black socks tucked inside which completed his look.He took all of his previous clothes put them inside the box,together with his boots then left.
He went down the stairs with his sights at the reception table but as soon as he set foot on the last step he was met face to face with the receptionist,"You are just the person I'm looking for follow me."She told him as she walked towards the dining area in.the hotel and led him to a table at the window where another man wearing official grey was sitting his table full of food with mouth watering aroma."Good to see they fit you well."Said Sirius as he stood up and shook hands with Leximus who said nothing but a thank you as he proceeded to chair in front of him the receptionist withheld him by his shoulders aand said,"If you don't mind I will be taking that box of yours."Leximus then looked at him with a puzzled face and asked"Why?"and got an immediate answer,"It carries filthy clothes does it not,I am just going to handle them for you."Hearing this he gave her the box then he sat down opposite of Sirius,"Eat ,I ordered them for you since you did not have a chance to eat yesternight,This all is for you so eat."He gestured at him and he wasted no time in gobbling that meal down his throat,he ate hastily but in a respectful manner after they were finished and the bill was paid and were about to head out Sirius just burst out of the blue and told him,"Don't bother going for the box,I already ordered them to discard with the filthy things so lets just head out."Leximus opened his mouth to question why he got rid of his things without his permission only for him to hold himself back realising one thing, he may question the man now and he takes that as a form of rudeness and revoke helping him since Sirius didn't need Leximus,Leximus needed him so without saying a thing he followed the man with no complaints coming from him.Once they had settled in the carriage and it was driving away and as Leximus looked at Sirius he saw that he had hi dignified demeanor,a nonchalant expression on his face with a dignified slight smile then opened his mouth gracefully saying,"My,your hair is as shaggy as ever anyway as per our agreement,I am going to explain everything to you then you will decide whether or not you will join us."He then paused for a moment to allow the mood to settle then took a deep breath and began,"The Nightcrwalers is an organisation that is within this country of ours with its headquarters situated in the capital of the country.Do you remember me telling you that we hunt down Avatars who break the law?"He asked Leximus who replied with a nod,"Well the law I mean is the one that every Avatar is binded to the Law of Ascendants so the man who killed your family too is an Avatar and he is at the top of wanted list and that is all I can tell you for now."He ended the explanation there leaving Leximus in awe as he asked with a pinch of anger and curiosity in his voice,"What you are going to end it there but was way to shallow for information it does not help its too damn short."Then Sirius looked at him then answered after letting out a small chuckle then answered,"If I were to tell you everything then I will be breaking the law which is to never tell the truth to the normal people,you will now everything once you become an Avatar."Due to this statement Leximus got what he wanted,'So one can acquire this power.'He thought to himself as he got lost into his own thoughts and after a few minutes the carriage came to a halt then alighted in front of a two-story,well refined building in which Leximus was welcomed inside by Sirius and the moment he stepped inside,he was astonished with the beauty of whitewashed walls with golden yellow strips on them and little gardens over at the window and this really Impressed Leximus and as he followed Sirius his eyes were darting from corner to corner admiring everything,suddenly they came to a halt and when he tried to observe why he stopped walking he noticed that Sirius was just staring at a blank wall and this made Leximus very irritated with no reason at all he was about to open his mouth to complain he noticed that a door was suddenly replacing the wall this made Leximus to close his mouth but still with no explanation he felt this feeling of irritation and once they were inside the elevator Sirius sighed and said,"Those rose like flowers are called Podica and if you look at them for more than three minutes you will feel attracted to them and if you remove your gaze you feel irritated but if you are not near them for more than a minute you become frozen in place."He explained as he tapped Leximus' shoulder as he was brought back to his senses he looked around then at Sirius and said,"You could have said something before we entered you know."Sirius just chuckled and told him,"Then what will be the point of learning through experience."Just then the old rusted metallic elevator came to a halt and they exited the elevator into a hallway made of of fresh wood dimly lit with lanterns to bring about this tone mystism and secret.As they walked Leximus just asked out of the blue,"Why are you showing me all of this and yet I haven't accepted to join your organisation?"In which he answered,"To give you no choice but to join us and this is a ones in a life time chance you will get to acquire the power and resources needed to look for your sister and avenge your parents."This made Leximus to pause for a little bit,'What a shrewd man.'He told himself as they reached a large metallic door and Sirius paused and looked at Leximus with a dead serious look on his face then asked,"Now let me ask you do you want to become one of us and join The Nightcrawlers?"Lexius paused then answered,"Yes."He said as he nodded his head and with this Sirius chuckled then asked another question,"Do you remember the power I showed you yesterday?Well do you want yours?"Leximus then answered again with a nod then with this confirmation Sirius knocked on the door three times sending out massive echoes in the hall then the large door followed with slowly opening with slight cold and sinister air was released from within and just then a total of ten boys ran outside all them about the same age as Leximus wearing all black together with a cloak same as the one Sirius woremaking him pause for a while and think what they were running from.He was snapped back to reality when Sirius called him out and told him to enter and the moment he was inside he realised that this room had different tone to it since first of all it was lit by candles at the four corners of the room,there was a two layer circle drawn with weird black substance that shone with different colours then the circles was with question marks drawn in between the layers then a man also wearing all black with yellow hair and green eyes approached them after exiting a room just behind this one which had a lot of jars on shelves,"Well Sirius its ready,we can now begin."Said the man with a stern look on his face as he looked over at Leximus."Well then why don't our little friend step into the circle."Said Sirius as he looked over at Lexiumus before adding,"Don't worry its safe,after all you said you wanted power right?"With this Leximus was stepped into the circle,"Then, what next?"He asked then the yellow haired man told him to sit down and he sat."Calvin you may begin."Sirius told the man.Calvin took a brown paper from his pocket sticked it on the floor then sat down and started to chant,"Blessings stem from the sources above,may you please judge this soul and justify its placement."As he was Leximus felt the same sinister air hit him and then weird symbols appeared on the people before everything went black for Leximus as soon as Calvin finished the chant.
Leximus opened his eyes and saw two people standing in front of him,one male,the other female and they were grinning from ear to ear facing Leximus and he was in a one year old's body observing everything, just then he stretched his hands to them,he didn't do that and then he said,"Papa,Mama."This stunned him he hadn't opened his mouth either.'What is going on?Who are these people?Why am I calling them like they are my parents?' He tried looking closely but could not make out their faces or what they were wearing.Then the scene changed,he was now crying and it was dark and right there in front of him were the two individuals again all brutally murdered,the male had his bowels out,his legs facing the wrong directions and his hands were wrung,the woman had her head looking back,bones were out from here shins and here forearms had no skin just bones and just then he felt a sudden urge of hate,disgust and a new motivation for revenge,he wanted to find out what the individuals did to be offered such a death just then a familiar figure came to him it had light brown eyes and looked down on him and said,"Sorry kid but I can't bring myself to kill you to."Before knocking him out cold,'Damn it!'He cursed internally as everything went dark again.He woke again and this time his body was back to his current one and in front of him was Paul and Sarah,also smiling at him and with that came a wave of happiness and warmth,in an instant the scene changed without any warning and there they were dead in front of him,"No!No!Not again no don't die!"He screamed as he broke down and just then he had slight cough from Paul's body and he froze and looked over at him,his mouth started moving on his own and formed some words then saying,"Avenge us Lex,do it and make us happy."Paul said as he crawled over to where Leximus was,then Sarah began crawling over to where Leximus was repeating what Paul's body said.Leximus fell to his butt then crawled back panicking,"Wait!No!Stop!Stop!"He screamed then without warning they pounced on him and when he fell on the floor it was as if the floor became liquid and he inside back to where he was before,returning to the child body and then the woman's head snapped back in place and dragged herself towards the baby Leximus saying,"Come on Lex just avenge your parents won't you?Do it for your loving parents."She had this soft angelic voice and it sounded as if she was begging and yet Leximus couldn't make out her face.The man also dragged himself as his insides spewed everywhere repeating what the lady had said then pounced onto Leximus and this time he also saw Paul and Sarah on top of the other two and just then Sheila's face popped out in the face left and said,"Won't save me brother?"With blood oozing from her empty eye sockets just as the floor turned into water and he sank inside now drowning in water with different emotions overcoming him:Happiness,anger,hate,disgust,warmth and confusion all hitting him at once,overwhelming him at once almost making him explode.Then he felt something cold coming in contact with him and holding him and tugging him downwards when looking at what it was he saw a black tentacle with a purple outline,just then four white glowing hands came from the surface and grabbed him pulling him to the surface.They were warm,bringing in relief and he just wanted to give himself to them.The moment the hands were pulling him up,the tentacles increased pulling him all at once while he could not do anything but he wanted to give himself to the warmth,he craved for it and as the hands were winning a cold deep voice whispered in his right ear,"Are you sure you want to go to them?Are you sure you don't want revenge?Because I am going to offer you the ability to do so and also to find...Sheila so choose wisely."The voice resided and with this immense hate and spite filled him and he forced his way below,now he himself holding to the tentacles to pull himself deeper and while this was happening,back in the room something was wrong the candle lights were now flickering with different colours:Black,Amber,Green,Blue and Yellow and this was even new to the pair outside.The black liquid used to make the circle was splashed everywhere thanks to the amount of force exerted by Leximus and this force did not subside rather it intensified pushing Sirius and Calvin back,"What is happening to him?"Asked Calvin with a lot of concern."Don't know."Replied Sirius.As Leximus was going deeper and the hands struggling to bring him to the surface,eventually he reached a point where the hands were just dissipated but he still pressed on and the last thing he heard was a high female-like voice saying,"You truly are determined one,aren't you?"Before waking up to find the black liquid scattered,Sirius and Calvin on the floor.What he didn't know the moment he was about to wake up there was one last force that pushed Sirius and Calvin and the candle flame returned to their original colour, the brown paper on the floor had a symbol drawn on it,a broken ring with a gap on top like something was missing.Leximus stood up with a confused look and asked,"What happened here?"But no one answered they just looked confused and Calvin he clenched his teeth and took hold of the sword on his waist ready to cut him down but before he could do that Leximus staggered towards them holding his head and fell right into Calvin.He let out a scream,his head felt like it was going to burst,the candle flames burnt purple with the outer region being black,his shadow stretched out to where he was and formed a circle with the symbol in between the paper on the floor burnt away and his eyeballs turned black and his pupils became purple.Calvin leapt back leaving Leximus kneeling on the floor screaming out in pain,looking at Sirius he was worried,Calvin was angry ready to cut him down then when he looked at Calvin's shadow it showed with purple outlines that he was worried,just then he heard some whispers in head saying,"Good choice,We'll help you,Set out to do what you aim to do."Each having a different voice saying it,raspy,soft,high and low.All of them screaming in his head and as his eyes landed on Sirius' shadow it was blurry but they were showing a weird face and just then he lost consciousness.
