Chapter 9: Adventurer Guild.

The last group member first spread out his arms wide, creating a bit of air that pushed Jake back a bit. Then he let out a resounding roar:
"The name: Nawa." He extended his hand to Jake for a handshake.
Shaking the lizard man's (Nawa) hand, Jake apologized to them. "Sorry. Kinda rude of me to do all of that, when your intention was to help me."
"Worry not; this is nothing compared to the things we have had to deal with all this time," Carnelian said, expressing that Jake's worries about what he did did not affect them at all.
"Anyway, if you want to sell those herbs you have, go to the Adventurer's Guild. I don't know much about it, but stores in this town seem to buy all their supplies of herbs at the guild and not buy them from the adventurers themselves."
Carnelian pointed in the direction of the guild. Seeing where he needed to go, Jake stood up and ran toward it, waving his hand back to them as he went.
Watching Jake run toward the guild, the group could not help but think of him as interesting. To think someone they had never even interacted with could figure out Carnelian and Hans's secret that easily.
"So do we need to leave this place now?" Nawa muttered, asking for their opinion.
"There's no need to do so. I peeked within him and he's not the type of person to ruin someone else's situation for his own," Carnelian said.
"I see. Still, we need to be careful when interacting with people. If anyone figured out we gods are living a mortal life, there's a high chance evil ones would hunt us down," everyone agreed with the words of Hans.
Gods, in this world, there are thousands of them. For everything you can think of, there will be a God for that thing.
It is said that if all the existing Gods gather together, their number is enough to be a population of a city.
These five are gods themselves, yet not strong enough and have enough Faith to be considered an actual God, but they are deities themselves.
Unlike the main worshipped Gods, like the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, the Goddess of Love and Pregnancy, the God of Life, the God of Death, and the God of Elements, who are known as Primal Gods.
They are what you call Ascended Gods, once mortals who achieved godhood by trial and effort within their era and gained enough believers to become one.
The group has known each other even before they became gods, so every 300 years they will let go of their Divinity and enjoy adventuring with mortals for 10 years at best before going back as gods.
They do this for two reasons. One is to enjoy interacting with people again after a long time.
Even if they are a minor god, the amount of divinity within them can erase an entire kingdom if they decide to enter mortal land in their main body as a god.
To ensure this will not happen, they'll create an avatar that allows them to live as one with the mortals without causing a problem. By keeping their original body in their domain, they can venture out in the world.
Secondly, to gain more believers for themselves and spread their name. By achieving great feats as adventurers, they can then spread their name to the people and hope one of those people becomes a believer in them.
They have been gods for over three thousand years already, and not once has someone figured out Hans and Carnelian's secret this fast before.
{~ Hans: The God of the Red Dragon.~}
{~ Carnelian: The Goddess of Water Spirit.~}
{~ Oak: The Ancient Tree.~}
{~ Peak: The Immortal Phoenix.~}
{~ Nawa: King of the Serpent.~}
These are their titles as gods. Leaving this aside, the group decided to leave the town to do their quest, which they got from the adventurer guild.
Leaving for the north gate of the town, Nawa suddenly remembered something he had done. "Did I mess that up?"
Hearing his words, the group asked what he had done to say such things. Knowing if he kept this a secret he might lose their trust in him, he answered:
"I kinda gave that guy my blessing… when I shook hands with him." The group fell silent for a moment before Carnelian said:
"That's probably alright. Sure, he figured out the secrets of the two of us here, but I don't think he realized we are gods."

Looking up, Jake found a three-floor building from afar. "That should be the guild, right?" he asked.
Thinking back about that group, he commented on their names. "Still, what's wrong with this world's naming sense?"
When he heard the other four names, Jake held himself not to gag and laugh at them.
He knew that not everyone is good at naming their own children, but to think that making up a name for your own was that hard.
Carnelian. When he heard her name, he remembered it as a type of gem he once read about on Earth. Then when the other three did theirs, their names were about their existing traits of their species/race.
"The Harpie just decided to change the B from the word beak, and changed it with a P and called it a day." He sighed, thinking how lazy it was.
Once the elf was in his mind he quickly realized how lazier that guy's name was. "Like really, Oak? That's the best name you could think of? You name yourself after a tree."
Looking at his hand, it was a bit rough after that handshake with Nawa.
"Nawa…" He remembered a story about his country's legends and myths. "Doesn't his name sound near Bakunawa? Though the species is a bit off, his name is still near it."
Stopping his thoughts, he was right in front of the guild door. Without hesitation, he entered. Once he was inside, he smelled many things in the air, such as alcohol, animal blood, sweaty people, and many more.
Although the adventurers had this uniqueness with their attire, the first thing he noticed within the guild was Amber working in the background.
Seeing her, Jake admired her work ethic and her doing her best. Seeing she was working to her utmost, he moved towards the receptionist table and waited in the line that was already formed.
"Are you gonna sell that?" A voice called out to Jake from behind. Turning around, he found another elf calling out to him. Seeing how his deduction was right on the money, Jake nodded.
"Then go to the kitchen area over there." The elf pointed at the open door in the corner right.
"The people working there will pay you a much higher price than the guild itself. Especially since the things you have are all fresh and of good quality."
Jake hesitated to take the advice from the elf; if he was telling nonsense, Jake would need to line up again.
He had already spent a good amount of time waiting for his turn. If somehow this elf was telling a lie, he would have to go back to the end of the line again.
Before he could even say no to the offered advice from the elf, a worker behind the door appeared.
"That's some good quality herbs you have there, kid. Why don't you sell that to me, and let's talk about the price back in the kitchen?" a brown wolf person said to Jake as he glared at the herbs tied to the vine rope.
