Chapter 57 - Your Kaiju Are Too Small:-Chapter 57: One Wave After Another

Seeing it was Albert—

Natsuki slowly retracted the light wheels in his hands. His sharp aura vanished instantly as he plopped down on the bed.

Those hellish eight hours had truly tortured him enough.

However, this ultra-high-pressure training brought rapid improvement in strength. The gains were substantial.

"Sit wherever." Natsuki rubbed his cheeks, letting his tense nerves relax slightly, speaking to Albert.

Albert looked at the chaotic room, his eye twitching involuntarily.

The floor was covered in cracks, tables and chairs overturned against the wall. Where was there even space to sit?

"I'm fine standing," Albert politely declined.

Then quickly got to the point: "Regarding the next target—leads have surfaced."

"His name is Zachary Leiman. He's gained UN support and is pushing forward an unmanned Jaeger program. All nations have received related information."

"I'll explain the specifics later. The Marshal is waiting for us. You should freshen up first."

Albert adjusted his glasses. After speaking, he stepped outside and closed the door behind him.

He headed to Marshal Stacker's office to wait.

One look told him Natsuki had just woken up. To discuss serious matters, he should wait for the other party to get up and ready. This was his personal quirk—no matter what, everything should have a sense of ceremony.

After he left—

Natsuki sat on the bed, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "These Travelers really can't sit still. One after another causing trouble."

"Or rather... is whatever's behind them forcing them to act?"

He guessed these Travelers' missions all had time limits, which was why they couldn't stay patient—surfacing one after another.

He'd need to confirm this with Albert later.

"But right now... I should review this training session's results first." Natsuki raised his right hand. The bangle on his wrist projected a semi-transparent panel.

After being tormented by Tiga for a full eight hours, the gains were very obvious.

Most directly—the skill list now included [Instant Movement (Basic)]. He could consume energy to instantly move between different positions. The farther the teleportation distance, the higher the consumption.

Additionally, his movement speed during combat after transformation had greatly increased—nearly double compared to before.

However, because his base stats were low, even after improvement he still couldn't compare to Tiga. On the bright side, there was still massive room for growth.

Previously, Natsuki could only watch helplessly as younger generation warriors risked their lives in battle while he didn't even qualify to participate.

But at this rate, next time Natsuki returned to the Land of Light, he'd definitely be able to participate in the future great war.

Even his current strength was more than sufficient for this world.

Earth's environment was special. Within the limited three minutes, the faster he was, the more he could accomplish.

Natsuki sensed his body, finding that even in human form, he could clearly feel his body was lighter than before.

"Next... let's see what's up with this Traveler called Zachary Leiman."

After briefly reviewing the training gains, Natsuki slowly stood up. Using psychic power, he quickly tidied the room's furnishings, then headed out.

Marshal Stacker's office—a steel room with dim yellow lighting matching the base's style.

A television was broadcasting this morning's news. Marshal Stacker stood by the window, gazing at the now somewhat calmer ocean, his expression grave. Albert sat in a chair to the side, staring at the tablet terminal in his hands.

Neither spoke. Only the television's audio could be heard.

"Yesterday, former Pan Pacific Defense Corps Marshal Stacker Pentecost led a private force to the Pacific Ocean and successfully closed the Breach at the Pacific Ocean floor. This news deserves our celebration."

On screen, a suited male host was reporting the news.

"Additionally, to prevent the next alien attack, the United Nations has promoted an unmanned Jaeger strategy, striving to have new-model Jaegers protecting every city in every nation in the shortest time possible."

"Citizens, the apocalypse we've endured is gradually approaching dawn, and your safety will be thoroughly guaranteed. Please believe..."

After a long string of official rhetoric—

"Finally... let's hear from Mr. Zachary Leiman."

The screen cut to Leiman, specifically in charge of this program.

This was a recording.

A middle-aged American man with brown hair neatly combed back sat on a sofa, hands clasped together, smiling at the camera. "Yesterday, Mr. Stacker closed the Breach at the Pacific Ocean floor, preventing aliens from easily sending Kaiju to Earth. What they did was great."

"We all know Jaegers have high attrition rates in combat, and training an excellent pilot also takes a long time. Mr. Stacker nearly exhausted all his Jaegers to complete this feat, so I deeply admire them."

"When heroes return triumphant, we should offer them the highest praise. At the same time... we should also let these weary heroes rest for a while."

"Here, I must also tell everyone a fact."

At this point, the smile on Leiman's face gradually disappeared, replaced by a serious expression.

"Although the wormhole Breach the aliens used to establish connection with Earth has been closed, this doesn't mean the threat from aliens has completely vanished."

"They may open the Breach again and make a comeback."

"So we must prepare in advance."

"Unmanned Jaegers are prepared precisely for this."

"They possess the strength of conventional Jaegers but don't require pilots to personally sit in cockpits and risk their lives fighting Kaiju. Remotely controlling them will be the most trusted military personnel from each nation."

"Fifty unmanned Jaegers will soon complete defensive deployment in major cities across nations. Once any incident occurs, unmanned Jaegers can immediately spring into action, and citizens' safety will receive higher-level protection."

"We... will soon welcome final victory."

Finishing, Leiman raised his wine glass toward the camera in a toast.
