"HISSS ROARR!!"

Godzilla's massive body thundered across the earth. The city nearby shook with every step. Fleeing citizens stumbled and fell from the vibrations alone. At nearly a hundred thousand tons, it didn't need to fight anything , just moving was a natural disaster.

Then something appeared in its path.

A giant, hovering in midair without any visible means of support, radiating colors that had no business existing on this planet. Godzilla's response was immediate: a roar that rattled windows for miles.

As Earth's guardian of natural balance, it didn't need long to reach its conclusion. This being was not of this world.

In Godzilla's eyes, the giant was wrong in every way. It floated in defiance of gravity, in defiance of nature itself, as if the laws holding everything else together simply didn't apply to it. The energy pouring off the giant was the kind that would tempt any Titan , rich, dense, worth consuming. But Godzilla felt no hunger for it. No desire to devour.

What it felt was something closer to irritation.

This thing was blocking its path. And now it was angry.

"There are still many innocent lives within this city."

"Stand down. Leave this fight to me."

The giant floated just ahead, its red and silver body catching the dying light. Bright eyes fixed on Godzilla without flinching. The voice arrived not through the air but directly into Godzilla's mind , low, unhurried, carrying a strange resonance that didn't belong to anything born on Earth.

Godzilla understood every word.

What it couldn't understand was why an alien would care about human lives at all. The being radiated a strangeness it couldn't parse. An existence it had no framework for.

And on top of that , it had a temper.

Apex of the Titans. Guardian of Earth's natural order. It had always been the embodiment of that order, and this alien had just walked up and told it to step aside.

You're going to tell me what to do?

"HISSS ROARR!!" The anger came up fast. This thing's condescending attitude was grating in a way Godzilla hadn't felt in a long time.

Not harming humans? Fine. It had no hostility toward humans to begin with. It was here to shove Rodan back into its volcano. That was the job.

But some unknown entity popping out of nowhere to block its path, trying to take over its duty?

Unacceptable.

It didn't matter if the challenger was alien or Earth-born , when Godzilla's temper was up, it fought first and sorted things out later. Without Mothra to mediate, it had always been this way. One wrong word and it was already swinging.

High above in the twilight sky, another Monarch carrier cut through the clouds.

Dr. Ishiro Serizawa watched the standoff on the screen, a frown forming slowly.

"He wants to... stop Godzilla?"

"Why?" Serizawa had always believed in Godzilla's role. His first instinct was suspicion. Was the giant actually here to hunt Titans? Because right now, it was standing between Godzilla and its target , standing against the planet's natural order.

Why would it do that?

"Could it be..." In the wide cabin, Dr. Vivienne Graham stared at the central holographic display. Rodan was rising from the foot of the volcano, wings spreading through the smoke. A thought formed in her mind, one she almost couldn't believe herself.

"The giant's real purpose..." She watched the figure holding its ground in front of Godzilla, and her eyes went wide. "...is to save the people in that city. From both of them."

An alien giant, crossing the cosmos, fighting Titans to protect humans?

"This..." The look behind Serizawa's glasses shifted. He found it nearly impossible to accept.

But then he looked at the city.

People running. Stumbling over each other. Faces twisted with the kind of fear that came from knowing you were completely powerless. Even up here, sealed inside the carrier, he could almost hear it , the screaming, the chaos, the desperate noise of people who had nowhere to go.

Life was weeping.

And the Giant of Light had placed itself between them and the Titans.

Behind that red and silver form stood thousands of innocent people. The giant was fighting for them. Right now, in this moment, that was exactly what it was doing.

"Something like this could actually..." Serizawa's mind went blank for a moment. He pressed both hands against the holographic table and leaned in, studying every detail of the giant's silhouette.

It wasn't from this world. So what possible reason — what standpoint — could drive it to make this choice?

At a moment when every force involved treated human lives as collateral, that giant was the only one who seemed to care whether those lives continued.

"SCREEEE ROARR!!"

At the volcano's base, Rodan shook its head clear of the impact and rose from the billowing dust. Its wings snapped open. With the smoke-choked volcano behind it, it looked like something that had crawled out of the earth's core , because it had. Lava-like blood pulsed through its veins as it fixed its gaze on the giant across the city and screamed.

Since ancient times, its kind had been worshipped as gods. To be ambushed and knocked back by some unknown entity was a humiliation it could not let stand.

It would remind that creature , and every human watching , exactly what it was.

On the other side, Godzilla made its own position clear with a roar.

Guardian of nature. Not of humanity. It had no goodwill for this alien being, and thanks to a certain Titan that had once arrived from the stars, it carried a general hostility toward anything that came from out there.

The thought in its mind was simple: fight.

The giant read that intention from the roar. Two monsters now. Both hostile.

"I understand."

"Then I will use the same method to return you both to slumber."

The voice was low and calm. The words themselves were perfectly reasonable.

But in this moment, they landed like a threat.

The giant's luminous eyes stayed bright , and then, between one breath and the next, something shifted in them. Resolve. Fighting intent. The look of a warrior who had crossed the cosmos for over ten thousand years and knew exactly what came next.

The hands that had been hanging relaxed at its sides closed into fists.

Before Godzilla could react, the giant was already there , a blur crossing the distance , and drove a punch straight into the great beast's face.

BOOM!!

"HISSS ROARR!!"

Godzilla hadn't expected that speed. It had no time to brace. The punch snapped its head sideways, and its massive body staggered back, one heavy step, then another, then another. The skull protected by layers of thick scales and hide rang with a dull, throbbing pain.

It recovered fast. The pain only fed the fire. Its dorsal fins lit up section by section, a deep blue glow climbing its spine , it was going to vent this fury right now.

But in the half-second it took to turn, the giant was already spinning, and a leg came around and slammed into its body.

No chance to counterattack. It hadn't even steadied itself. The second blow caught it clean, and Godzilla toppled — away from the city , crashing down onto its side.

The impact sent a column of dust and smoke roaring into the sky. The ground shook like the earth itself had flinched.
