"HISSS-ROAR!!"

The Atomic Breath shot straight into the sky and achieved nothing. Every joule of energy vanished into that inexplicable shield, and Godzilla was genuinely surprised.

The beam died. In the twilight sky, the giant still hovered high above, not a scratch on him.

No wings. So how was he flying?

Blue energy still curled from Godzilla's nostrils. Flying types were always a headache.

Swimming? Godzilla was unmatched. But not being able to fly — that was a real problem. Its only ranged attack couldn't punch through the opponent's defense, and the gap in advantages was becoming impossible to ignore.

The experienced old Ultra wasn't giving Godzilla a single opening to close the distance. He just kept exploiting his greatest edge, grinding down Godzilla's patience one pass at a time.

"HISSS-ROAR!!"

Godzilla opened its massive jaws and bellowed at the sky. A warning. A challenge.

Every Titan had its pride. Provocation worked on all of them — sometimes even a weaker Titan would lose its head and throw itself into a fight it couldn't win, all for the sake of dignity.

But this opponent wasn't from Earth.

Facing Godzilla's challenge, the giant simply recalled the shield that had swallowed the Atomic Breath. He didn't release the stored energy back at it. If he fired it off, he'd have to spend even more effort shielding the city again. Not worth it.

[1:46]

The Ultra Bracelet flashed. The giant aimed his palm at the beast below, and the bracelet dissolved into layered rings of green light that crossed the distance between sky and earth in an instant, wrapping around Godzilla.

Godzilla hadn't finished charging its next Atomic Breath. Then the restraint hit, sudden and total. The beam died in its throat. Its entire body locked up, rigid as if every muscle had been encased in solid ice.

"ROAR—"

The Titan's feet left the ground. It began to rise, lifted by those layered green rings, carried steadily away from the city.

On every street in the Mexican city below, people craned their necks and stared. The sight was impossible. Most of them were still shaking from nearly dying minutes ago.

SPLASH!

WHOOOOSH!

The giant used the bracelet to carry Godzilla out over the sea, where the last of the sunset painted the water gold. That enormous body hit the surface and sent a wave surging in every direction.

"That's enough." The giant recalled the bracelet and looked down at the Titan half-submerged in the ocean.

He extended his palm slowly. Brilliant points of light bloomed between his hands and drifted down toward Godzilla.

The Full Moon Rect had purifying power , it could calm a rampaging Kaiju. But against a Titan with this level of intelligence, it couldn't simply be imposed. Godzilla's will would push back against it.

Godzilla had wanted a fight. Before it understood the outcome, using the Full Moon Rect would just burn his own energy for nothing.

But now the outcome was clear. Now it could actually help.

"HISSS-ROAR!!"

Bathed in golden light, Godzilla still felt the pull of the fight. But the facts were in front of it.

If this continued, it wasn't going to win. And it could tell , this alien hadn't even gone all out.

So it let the energy do its work and let the remaining aggression drain away. This creature had no interest in slaughtering Titans. No interest in claiming Earth for itself. There was no point in continuing.

The Full Moon Rect did something else, too , it quietly refilled the energy Godzilla had burned firing the Atomic Breath. That, Godzilla hadn't expected.

It raised its massive head and looked up at the giant one last time. Their eyes met across the distance.

[Antarctica]

For the first time, Godzilla accepted the telepathy the giant offered. It sent back two words.

Then it turned, swung its tail, and slipped beneath the surface. Only its jagged dorsal fin remained visible, cutting through the water as it disappeared.

Even now, Godzilla kept it brief. One location. Nothing more.

Whether that was its next destination, or the next battlefield that mattered , the giant could figure it out.

He nodded slowly after receiving the message.

Then he turned and looked toward a different part of the sky.

...

"Move it!"

"FASTER!"

Inside the Osprey screaming through the air, Jared had both hands locked around the cabin railing, shouting at Old De in the pilot's seat.

The cooling shells were gone. Every last one. Rodan was about to close the gap.

Jared could already feel the heat radiating off it.

Through the clouds, the crimson Titan hammered its wings, locked onto them, closing in.

The cooling shells had slowed Rodan down, sure. But they hadn't done any real damage. If anything, they'd just made it angrier.

Less than five hundred meters now.

"I'm already at max!" Old De was drenched in sweat, engine throttle pinned as far as it would go. He was pretty sure something under the hood was starting to smoke.

"SCREEEE-ROAR!!"

Rodan's shriek hit them like a wall. This time there was no missing it , the sonic force alone threw the helicopter off balance again, and Old De's grip on the controls nearly slipped.

These insects had annoyed it long enough. They were going into its mouth.

Rodan's beak was already open wide. Scalding magma churned inside that massive maw.

It was a fraction of a second from biting the helicopter in half.

Then something caught the edge of its vision.

It snapped its head down.

A giant, red and silver, was already beneath it, flying in a way that made no physical sense, arms locked into a cross, bright eyes radiating something Rodan couldn't read.

"Screech...?"

VOOM!!

"ROAAARRR!!"

The moment of confusion cost it everything. A blinding Specium Ray erupted from the giant's palm edge and slammed into Rodan's torso. The impact didn't just stop it , it redirected it entirely, blasting the Titan upward through the clouds like a missile fired at the sky.

A million degrees of Specium Ray. The contact was instant and the burn marks were immediate. Rodan lived in magma. It had never felt heat it couldn't handle , until now. This was the first time it understood what it meant to be cooked.

The clouds detonated outward from the force. The entire twilight sky became a backdrop for that single pillar of light. The only thing untouched was the helicopter, wrapped in a bubble of telekinesis.

"Good Lord..."

Old De's jaw dropped. He'd heard about this. He hadn't been ready for it. The sky itself was shaking, and he couldn't look away.
